Tenerife Sun Report 7 Sep 2008 10:18

Hi
Just popped in to let you know that there is no sun this morning and to ask who sent the rain? Not a lot but enough to make everything outside wet. So I have left Tony mopping the patio and doing some ironing while I escaped into Wendy´s to speak to you. still warm here despite the rain though. Hopefully it will clear the humidity which is very tiring when you have to walk up lots and lots of steps from the town to here. Actually yesterday we stopped on the way up and had lunch at a restaurant overlooking Puerto de la Cruz, Calamare, garlic bread followed by Spaghetti bolognese plus a glass or two of white wine.

Won´t go into individual replies except to say it is good to see a post from caz on here. My Dad used to have one of those walkers and he found it very useful.

Whitenancy Report 7 Sep 2008 13:47

Took mother home yesterday and the cleaning company had not done half they were supposed to do. They reckoned they had been in all week yet the sofa and all the upholstery were still wet, they seem to have thrown out lots of stuff that was probably salvageable now mother hasnt got any cutlery or kitchen utensil not even a tin opener. They havnt cleaned any of the surfaces in the living room and the front windowsill was still full of dead flies! and this was supposed to be a deep clean!!!.
Ended up having to leave mother crying with the disappointment of it all as we had not arranged to stay over night and had to get back for the kids.
Then today mother rings me up with this long list of complaints about what has not been done and/or stuff that is missing and she gets bogged down with the fact that when they took the old cooker out of the garden they didnt take some bit of polystyrene that were on top of it after 20 mins of arguing round in circles i put the phone down so i expect that she is on the phone my sister telling her what a rude and inconsiderate daughter i am.

Hi Elaine, I think Deanna has computer problems, sure that's what I read somewhere.

Claire, it's really disgusting that the company didn't do a good job, I hope your Mum will not pay them the full amount if they didn't clean properly. I can understand her disappointment and it would have been good for you and your sister to see it all done right. Hope she will try to keep on top of things now and you can talk to her again soon.

Kathy, chin up hon, it will work out!! Hope next door's cat isn't being too much of a pain. You can't help but feel sorry for him. Stupid owners/neighbours! Wonder how much they pay the niece to go in.

Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned, and hope you have a good week, I am trying to clear some of my clutter but it is really stressful and I am not coping well. O.h. on earlies so can't have my chats with folk as I usually do, but will try to catch up with everyone when I can.

Yesterday I was working local, and am at same (larger) shop today. Haven't been to the loo since Saturday! Feel a head ache coming on this morning.
Oh to be normal. Back at phychologist tomorrow.
I have been doing so much more lately and with the panic getting less when leaving the house. Something is working but it's so slow.

Love and hugs to you all Carole xxx

Hi to everyone, glorious day here today. I have had such a good laugh today, it has done wonders for how I feel, unfortunately it is at my OH's expense. But it has also been a long long time since I have laughed so much. It really is good medicine.

I would love to share this with you all but would get divorced if put it on the boards.

If anyone really would like to know, PM me and I will share with you that way.

Love and hugs

LOL Gail, I am still laughing two hours later, ouch.

Morning everyone, I am still getting on top of the pain, still have the electric shock type shooting pain down my leg when I move though. I have to ring my doctor this morning to tell her how I am doing, she might decide to put me on a higher dose, I hope not as I feel disjointed from myself now, if you know what I mean.
Carole it sounds good for you, maybe you are getting it under control.

Love and hugs

Hello again, very hot here today but I wont complain. White Nancy, I would write a strong letter of complaint to the cleaning company if you feel they didn´t do the job properly. Especially as the furniture was still wet and cutlery missing.

Morning all, I'm freezing - almost. Sudden drop in temperatures here, after the violent rain last night. Shorts yesterday, today jeans and a pullover. It's now sunny, high 60's.
Been out collecting bargains of fruit, 11 quart baskets of pears and peaches, for the same price as I bought 2 quarts a week ago. Supposed to be canning today, but I am on such a roll with the bills, I don't dare stop,LOL, when have you known me to put papers first.
The house smells like a sewer, 2 wet beds overnight, have a load of laundry on while I am sorting papers.
Now I need a break, a peach crumble tartlet with my coffee.
Later in the week I am to receive a bushel of field tomatoes so I can make chutney. Nice to have connections with the farmers in the area!!.

I've managed to get down to 60mg of the Citalopram daily, a bit afraid to go lower after all the side effects which the chemist warned me about. perhaps I should just stay a bit happier than usual. Certainly nice to feel "more like the old me". instead of the old grey mare I'd become.
one thing has surprised me, seems much of the recent agitation was due to the lack of computer and communication. Remind me to never lose it again LOL.
Happy day , sending sun your way.
love
Mary

not spoken to mother directly but according to my sister they came round on Monday to do the cleaning that they hadnt done. Unfortunately my sister handed over the rest of the cash before we realised that they had only done half a job, so i think that chances of getting any more out of them are very small and since we didnt do an inventory before the company came in it is our word against theirs as to what they took/threw out etc.

On a brighter note the job is going well and they have asked me to work 8.30-4.30 everyday from now on which is good news and since hubby was not in college today i came home to a clean and tidy house a meal ready and about 3 loads of laundry done. he even sorted out the odd socks!!!!!!!!!!

Love and ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))) to all

Good Morning :o))

Last night I went to see The Duchess with two work friends. Two of us loved it, and it was sad at the end. Third person was unmoved but hadn't really enjoyed it, it's not her sort of film. Looking forward to Brideshead revisited now.
Not so long ago I would have found it very difficult to go out like I have been doing. I just look forward now to life getting better. I'm going to see my phychologist today then on to work.

Love to you all you have helped me through the last
few months more than you will ever know xxxx

Gail I hear St Johns wort is very good. But don't expect a miracle. (lol) I put a little something in the post to you this morning. No you don't swallow it.
Its a surprise. Hope the distractions of working on your family tree are helping you. xx

Dutch is it vertigo you have? Sounds very unpleasant for you. Sorry don't know the code for Ireland. xx

Liz have you managed to do any sorting out of your saved stuff? I wish I could come and help support you
and get you feeling safe to throw away some of the stuff you have. Do you think of it as, rubbish, might come in handy some day, precious, or just belongings you want? xx

Clair bless you it's a worry isn't it when our parents
are behaving in a way we can't seem to change. My own theory now is leave them to it. I have my own problems, and will help if asked by them. I'm not taking on everyone else's problems unless I know I can cope. It's hard to see my parents (especially Mum) stressed but the alternative is me stressed. I don't cope well with stress, so have decided to cut out as much as I can. My sister is running round doing things for her daughter and her two kids, and our parents. Smokes like a trooper because she is stressed , and so killing herself. Then mum says she is worried about Linda smoking, but she is giving her lots of jobs to do every time Linda visits. She doesn't realise the stress on Linda. So do what you want, but don't take all responsibility share it with mum xxx My mum is like yours with the narcissism so I know some of how you feel xx

Caz hope you are making some improvement xx

Mary how are you coping with the kids? New computer up and running yet? xx

Gill nice to see you about xx

Wonder how Eileen is getting on xxx to Eileen

love to all xx

Wow, I didn't realise how common it was.
I was recently told by my doctor that I am suffering from Depression and Anxiety and I have been having a real hard time coming to terms with it.Up until then I'm afraid I was one of those people who would have offered the advice of pulling yourself together.
Wont do that again.
