Just popping in breifly at work, been chaotic at home, I didn't know the internet was an addiction LOL.
We are all OK, some speech development from my grandson, plus he has suddenly started drawing and writing his name, out of the blue. I am floored, he also the other day was determined to wear his green shirt (suddenly he knows all the colours), but it had been left in the back garden in the rain overnight. he asked his mother "are you my mother?" and her reply was "yes I am your mother and you are not wearing that muddy shirt!!" A real conversation, to me a miracle. It's like someone has turned on a light, he has drawn a recognizable person, and the shape of a toolbox, which he identified as such.
Sarah has been discharged from her (IBI )therapy and I fear she will now slide backwards, and lose any potential for her future.
I hope we'll have the computer prob fixed and be back online in a week or so. Appreciate Liz keeping me in touch.
hugs
MAry

not been on here for quite a while but do look in from time to time to see how everyone is getting along - Gail, I am so very sorry about your Dad. When I lost my Dad it was the end of the world and a very long time before I could even speak his name without bursting into tears. Now though, after about twelve years, I can look back and think of all the lovely times we had together, all the happy memories of a wonderful father and husband to my lovely Mum, now also gone. You do get over it eventually and learn to live with it but of course they will always be in your heart.

I am so sorry to learn what has happened to Gill - how can people be so cruel. Let's hope that whoever was so cruel takes time to look in on this thread and see how people are being so helpful and caring towards each other - never has there been an unkind word on this thread and please God there never will be.

It's a wonderful thread which Carole had the good sense to start and now coming up to it's 4,000th posting!! something for everyone who posts on here to be extremely proud of.

And if you are looking in Gill, you will know that we are all thinking of you and wishing you well and looking forward to seeing you back posting soon.

Love to all, Ann XXXX

Deanna Report 30 Jul 2008 16:25

Elaine, I'm so pleased that someone is taking notice of your husband at last.
Now they see that he needs a little help, he is going to be okay.
It will take all the worry you have been carrying around with you... off your shoulders love. X

Carole, I have a fan on in the cubby now and the window open. I can't reach the window to open it, and if I shut it, all I can do is go outside and push it too... then one of my long armed men will lock it for me.
I hope I go to Heaven... because I know that I will never be able to stand the heat in the other place!!! ;-0(
Hope you are well Carole. X

How are you coping Gail?
I know it is hard love. X

Joyce... thinking of you ,and will eventually pm you. X

That may end up being just the appointment you need Irene... lets hope it is. X

Rach, Ann, Kathy, (no kitchen??)
Betty, enjoy your grandson's visit.
Liz, Mary, and everyone I have missed... be well and I do think of you.
Angela... you still doing well these days?

Better move on and spread myself around a bit... not difficult with my figure... kind of does it itself really. ;-0)

Bless you all, and enjoy the sun.

Ronald, how true that little poem is.
Thanks for that.

I had the same experience as you did and shocked myself by my calmness.
7 years later I am still here and doing well.
Just hope that if I need to face another 'biggie' I can be as able as the last time.

Contentment is better than happiness... and easier to attain.
Good luck all of you.

AnninGlos Report 30 Jul 2008 16:33

Deanna,
That made me chuckle!! The thought of you spreading yourself around!

Not quite so close here today, very pleasant really sunny and warm, thought we were in for rain this morning but it didn't happen. spent an hour pottering in the garden dead heading all the pelargoniums and petunias.

Elaine, good that they are looking closely at your OH's appetite. Hopefully they will sort something out. When my Mum was 81 she had a colostomy and had a stoma fitted. It was a big op, especially for somebody her age who had not been in hospital since her teens. after the op she was very depressed for quite while and didn't eat much at all. eventually though she started to pick up and went back to digging her garden, weeding etc, went on holiday. She lived until she was 85 perfectly fit and healthy , she died of an aortic aneurism in the end. I am sure your OH will eventually start eating again. Was he normally a good eater?

Carole, not many people posting at the moment but that is general I think on all the boards. very slow moving, must be the school holidays.
