Hi everyone, Wehave had rain during the night but the sun is struggling to get through this morning. Gaynor has been away overnight at a wedding so I am taking advantage of this and using her PC. I now know how slow mine has got, the lad that was bringing my Norton update etc hasn't turned up so I guess he doesn't want the business. Kathleen, I hope you are improving each day and that Susan is getting better too. I think your family have had more than their fair share of illnesses. Back shortly Right I'm back now. Marly, the GPs sound like my tortoise, she runs up to us hoping for lettuce etc. I hope you enjoy your trip to Southport RegistryOffice, I went one year, it was very interesting. They keep advertising for staff so they must not have plans for India yet, thank goodness. Fred, What no BBQs? Sylvia v O, Sorry I confused your son and grandson. I have my telephone about six months now and am still finding out different things on it. These new fangled things! Brenda, I see you are busy as usual. I am still debating whether to come by coach or train, the coach is a lot cheaper but I have 45 minutes wait in Manchester going and 50 minutes coming back, although it would be nicer travelling with you than on my own. Sue, My weekend is getting on here (on Gaynor's PC) also I have some plants to put out and I hope to watch a bit of tennis too. John, I'm not surprised my message came on twice, what with Genes being slow and my laptop keep freezing, I dont know where I'm up to, I didn't realise how bad things were until I came on here (on Gaynor's PC) The copy and paste is a good idea but whatever is wrong with my laptop has slowed My Documents down as well. Judy, The stout brings memories back, when I was in hospital having my daughter, they gave me a bottle of stout every day, at that time I didn't drink and hated it and the nurses use to queue up to finish off any I left. Jacqui, Sounds like you will be spending all your time cooking for your teenagers. Have you taken any photos of the baby goats yet? Pamela, I hope they have your daughter sorted soon, its not nice having problems with breathing. Well I had better get something done before they return from the wedding. Speak soon. June xx

Hello Everyone,Hope you are all well. I'm sorry I haven't been on here for a while and hope you haven't all forgotten me. I see some of the people from Bill's old thread are not about,or have I just popped on at the wrong time? Norman and I are keeping quite well so I will try not to do any complaining today. It has been a lovely day here today, quite warm and dry, but we are expecting showers tomorrow. Have the floods affected anyone on here? I will try to keep in touch more regularly now. Love to all from Sylvia XX

Hello all, Yes, it's me again - who else? I have been busy baking brown bread and made a delicious banana and walnut loaf. I just had to try a slice and it is really scrummy! Linda came and cleaned my bathroom and toilet and washed the kitchen floor, and who do you think did all the vacuuming? No, of course you wouldn't guess. It was Linda's boyfriend. How about that for young love? Such a lovable boy. Linda has just been away for a week with a girlfriend to the Canary Islands on a trip her girlfriend had won, so Linda hasn't seen her boyfriend for 10 days. Yes, Linda can stay with this boy! Unfortunately last week some Moroccan youths beat him up and he had to have stitches in his ear. Such a nice innocent boy walking along the street with a friend and then this mob of Moroccan youths picked on him. It has been dry up to now and the sun has come through, but not enough to sit out. See you all tomorrow. Sylvia xxx

Hi Everybody Hope you are feeling better Brenda,if you are still feeling rotten don't delay in seeing your Doc.Kidney problems can be very painful and sap your energy. Pamela, hope your daughter's breathing problem has cleared up,you mentioned heart concerns but perhaps it could be caused by pollen etc. which seem to coincide with Summer. Marly your trip to Southport sounded very interesting but I am curious about the ref. to India, what hve I missed ? Must congratulate the GRO,I have had several certs. sent here (NZ) and the longest time was ten days from ordering, my only problem is still trying to decipher that pesky maiden name !! Love to the GP's. June lovely to hear about Tortoise again, guess he/she has finally settled in her new house. I do miss hearing from a lot of our friends and their furry, feathered pals who used to be on Bill's thread but it has been great making new ones here with Brenda's crew. Sylvia in Oz,glad to hear you and Norman are well love to Milo from Ripley & Anna. Sylvia v.O,what a terrible thing to happen to your Linda's boyfriend, unfortunately this appears to be a world wide trend viscious louts everywhere. Still your Linda seems to have got one of the 'good guys' and that must be a blessing. Bye for now & Aroha (much love) JudyNZ P.S. Fred did you watch the Lion's game ?

Hi everyone, Its another lovely sunny day here, Gaynor has now finished putting plants in. (Til next time, lol) Yesterday, somone had left the garage door open, Beckham was grumbling and making such a noise, when I went out to investigate, he was trying to stop tortoise going into the garage. Thank goodness he did stop her because at the moment, there is such a lot of things in there, she could have been lost amongst everything. We had a ride around looking at some houses yesterday, the cheapestwas well over £200,000 and only had 2 bedrooms so I didn't bother asking the price of the 4 bedroom ones. Sylvia W. Oz, How could we forget you? I'm glad to hear both you and Norm are doing ok. Its good having you people from Oz on this thread we have more to talk about. Jacqui, I know how you feel about not being able to find anything, When my daughter and family moved in with me, we thought it was only for a few weeks because these houses have always sold very fast in the past but we have now found that the property market is at a virtual standstill and we cant lay our hands on things we now need. Sylvia v O, Sorry to hear about Linda's boyfriend, its happening all over, what is wrong with these people? Brenda, I hope you are now feeling better, I can only reiterate what others have said, that you must go to the doctors if it doesn't improve. Marly, You would be amazed how fast tortoise can run when she wants too. Its very funny watching this shell moving along. I hope we dont have to go through India to get certificates, its bad enough when someone asks me is London in England, lol. Judy, 10 days is good for receiving a certificate, I have had to wait that long and I only live down the road from Southport. yes some of the writing is rather hard to decipher. John, I hope your weather warms up for you. Fred, How about writing a book of BBQ recipes. Can I have the first copy please? Well I had better go now, people are stirring and being as I am 5th in line for this PC, I had better go. Tomorrow, I am taking my Laptop in for repair, the only thing is, I like Norton security and none of the repair shops around here fit Norton. I wonder why? Speak soon, take care everyone. Love June xx

Hello June and everyone else, I am so glad to hear that I am still remembered. The print is very small on here tonight. I wonder if it is the same for everyone or do I have something wrong with my Computer. The weather wasn't too bad here today, but it is raining now. We went to see my son and his wife this afternoon, more for a ride than anything and to get us out of the house and see someone for a change. I hope you have all had a good weekend. Will see you again soon, love from Sylvia XX

Hi Sylvia,if you hold down the ctri key and rotate the wheel on your mouse it changes the size of the writing ,that out of the way ,it's nice to hear from you anytime, along with all the others.I will be passing on the recepies to v.p ,so if you want them you will have to ask that lady ,seeing as she asked first,[seriously] ,if anyone wants them for real ,just e/mail me and i will give them to you they only cost you a B.B.Q if i'm ever in your area.,the star of yesterdays show was the fresh gammon squares done in a tomato and dill marinade ,it was so good ,i made a pig of myself on that ,and the carrabiean chicken ,done in a special marinade ,and comprising slices of chicken ,pawpaw ,mango ,sweet potato and shallot done on a skewer ,with a sqare of pineapple to finish off ,beutiful. My son did the tortilla wraps again ,and apple sausages to go into finger buns[anyone hungry yet?]. Today i'm just going to do the pair of us a small salad which we will have on the patio if the sun stays out. Must be off now ,dinner calls and my son is due any minute to sort out my mic for me ,so beware folks ,i may be able to bend ears shortly instead of typing everything out ,sooooo much quicker ,and it could be fun listening to peoples accents [watch out the aus members] ,he he catch you all later.Fred.PtfT&A&G&G&S.

Hi all Just a quick few words to say Susan's temperature is finally down and hopefully will be normal and stable, I think she will be allowed to come home when that happens. She has been really ill but is much better now. I have not visited her in hospital as they were concerned that I could pass on my infection and also the risk of my catching something else as my resistance is low at the moment. Be back in a day or two. Meanwhile take care everyone. God bless Love Kathleen

June Report 4 Jul 2005 07:47

Hi everyone, Its dry again here and looks as though the sun will be out soon, we have been fortunate as we get the rain during the night. One or two people are wondering where I am, at the moment I have problems with both my PC and my laptop, there are one or two repair shops around here but none of them will put Norton on. SO today I think I will have to pay PC World a visit. At the moment I am on my daughter's PC while they are still in bed. Yesterday I enjoyed the Mens Singles Final but am sad that Wimbledon is over for another year. Sylvia W A. You did right to go out visiting, it can make you very depressed staying in all the time. I see Fred has explained how to make the print bigger, so I wont repeat it. Fred, I will email you for the recipes, then just watch it will be too wet for BBQs, lol. I had my mike, webcam and everything all working nicely when my both my PC and my laptop packed up on me. Mind if you have a broad Geordie accent, even though I love listening to it, I wont be able to understand you, lol. Kathleen, Its so good to hear from you again. I'm glad both you and Susan are progressing and hope Susan will soon be home. It doesn't seem 5 minutes ago that all we were worrying about was whether your kitchen was going to get finished or not. It sort of puts things into prospective doesn't it? Anyway, you just be careful and take care of yourself. Brenda, I hope you are feeling better now and that it was just a bug. Take care to all I haven't mentioned. June xx

HiJune ,i Wouldn't be in too much of a hurry with norton if i were you ,there are problems with it and a lot of people are leaving it on the disc now[me included] you could do a lot worse than using msn for your main needs like general security and defraggs and go for a free antispyware programme ,and a good virus protection programme ,such as stop sign ,which only costs £10, and is very good. There is also a free version of zone alarm which will stop most of the crap getting into your puter. I see that michael put up a very good idea for sweet corn for a B.B.Q,corn ,on the cob,no butter, but wrapped in a slice of bacon ,then wrapped in foil before broiling slowly on the coals .it sounds great ,and i will try it the next time we have one. It looks as though we are in for a bit of a wet day ,so i may make a pest of myself on here seeing as we don't need any shopping soi won't be taking the car out.We had a bit of a scare yesterday ,i went outside first thing to find a pool of hydralic oil lying on the drive, which meant the gearbox [automatic] so i phoned the garage seeing as it was only in for it's first service last week ,i took a photo of the pool of oil without moving the car,and told the garage that i had done so ,took the car in to find that the drain plug had,nt been tightened properly ,and made the garage put that into the report sheet ,and then told them that if there is damage showing up later on ,that's down to them to repair it free of charge ,and that i would be sending a letter to the Nissan h/q. I don't want to get on my high horse ,but what if it had been the braking system, and i had'nt of spotted it ,the mind boggles, these so called mechanics are on thirty pounds an hour [ruddy garages]. well i must go and see to the dinner ,catch you all when i get back knackered again tonight lol.Fred.PtfT&A&G&G&S.

Hi! June, Fred and anyone else on here and I hope you are all well. Thank you very much Fred for telling me how to make the print bigger. I could hardly see it, it was so small, but it is fine now. I will have a look at your recipes as I am always looking for something different to make. Cooking meals gets so boring after doing it for 56 years. We have just had tea, Shepherds Pie, Pumpkin, peas and cabbage, and Pavlova for dessert. Norman is watching the news on TV so I am OK on here for about an hour. See you again soon, Love from Sylvia XX

Hi all, Well I couldn't get out of my bed this morning. Johan had put a glass of tea by the bed and I hadn't seen it, nor had I heard him. He then had a shower and got the breakfast ready and still no sign of me, so he came and pinched my toes which were hanging out of the end of the bed. Eventually I got out of bed and had breakfast and then made some bread again. I tidied up the sitting room and put some washing in the machine and that was all. Annemie came down for a chat this afternoon. I do feel so lazy, but I suppose we all have days like these now and again. It came over so dark here now and again and buckets of water were falling from the sky. I'm glad we live in a flat, then I cannot get my toes wet! I do feel sorry for those poor holidaymakers who are camping in a tent. They must be feeling very cold. See you all again tomorrow Sylvia xxx

Hello everybody Cold, rain and wind - just what one expects in winter. Brenda I was looking around the 'net the other day and found an on-screen version of sudoku to play and yes I have had a go. One thing about this it is user friendly as once numbers are placed there is a 'how am I doing' button' that will tell if the numbers are in the right place. You can find this at www/websudoku(.)com/ (remember to leave out brackets). I've been also looking at the GR's sister site Connections. John

Evening All Well this evening my husband took the boys crabbing....pouring with rain and pitch black but that's how it has to be!! They didn't get too dirty and managed a good haul of Crabs.....my husband will make a crab and callaloo (like spinach) soup. They had a wonderful time and were accompanied by 2 other local guys so they are really mixing with the locals....not your usual hotel type holiday. Yesterday we went to Concorde Falls and they were leaping of the rocks into the pool and having wonderful fun....including my husband who still thinks he is 18!!!! I had a swim too....ice cold but lovely and refreshing!! So Fred Caribbean Chicken....paw paw and mango....I have these growing in my garden...the mango is small at the moment but is bearing fruit as is the Lime....the manderin and orange have not fruited yet but hopefully will by next year. Also have grapefruit and pomegranite trees but again still young. Did you know that Paw Paw has more vitamins than any other fruit....it is loaded with them!!!! Well that's all for now folks must get to bed!! Jacquie xxx
