Wanted to let you know that I've had an email, too from Max: ''Jason is ok - he's home'' - what a relief! :-) Joy |

Hello everyone, I have also heard from Max, although she has not said anything about Jason's injuries that she was able to bring him home yesterday morning seems to indicate they are not too bad. They are planning to go away for a couple of days, I should think they are both in need of some R & R. The following week I am going to London to meet Max and we will be doing some researching, have coffee and no doubt lots of chatting. The first time I met up with Max, some time after the first Guildford GC meeting, we chatted for 5 hours!!!! Max arrived home to find they had been burgled. I really think she is due some good luck having had more than her share of trauma over the past couple of years. Jacqui, so pleased to hear you didn't suffer the tornado though I believe you are getting some of the aftermath. To everyone, hope you are all keeping well and enjoying some nice weather. I will catch up when I get back to normal. Feeling much better now and Susan has enjoyed her respite from her treatment. It starts again on Monday but each day is one step nearer the end of it and so far it seems to be working well. God bless you all Love Kathleen |

Hi folks ,having just come home from a trip down south ,i am catching up on the news ,it's great to hear that Jason ,is alive ,and better yet ,home again ,geat news to end a sad week for me. After the trouble mid week i decided to visit family close to oxford, and have a get together ,and seeing as this weeks celibrations were culminating in a service to do with the second world war ,it was appropriate to combine the two .I had the misfortune to lose four uncles ,my dad,and a few civvy relatives during the war,and seeing as i lost a couple of friends in Aden ,and the gulf on top ,i can unashamedly admit i was in tears at one stage during the visit. No matter ,fred is back ,a little subdued but unbowed, and seeing as i missed all the chat i came on this evening ,before i have my tea [baked potatos in their jackets]and retire for an early night. My son wen't down with us ,and drove us back ,he frightened the life out of us ,and we were going at a steady seventy most of the way,but ,the missus and i are back safely. We were so busy down there ,but i snuck off for a few minutes to log on at one of those cafes ,and have a quick chat to a couple of pals[Hi sheila ,and elisa] will speak to you again when i wake up.Have a good evening everyone ,and do take care.Fred.PtfT&A&G&G&S. |

hello everyone, well I haven't caught up with all the housework I planned to do ,the lovelly weather put paid to that.tried to tidy the garden and was sweating so much it was in my eyes and making me look ike I had been gassed. Fred,I was so proud and touched watching some of the services for the end of the war,my family lost a few people but not as many as some,I wasn't born til 1949 but if those people had not done what they did i might not be here. That sort of courage and resolve is needed now with all these horrible things going on. Kathleen/Elizabeth , if you get in touch with Max please give her my love and best wishes. Hope Susan is ok when she resumes the chemo kathleen, Hope your elderly relatives are ok with this weather Elizabeth. June hope you find your dream house soon June, Sylvia you sound just like my gran used to do ,there was always something on the stove and any friends I took round always got a plate of what ever. didn't sleep much last night so hope its better tonight, see you all tomorrow.Take care Brenda. |

It would seem that i was thinking along the same lines as you Brenda,i got up early this morning and hosed the gardens and lawn down to give the grass and new plants to assimulate the food i have put down. All the work in the garden i am now having to do early ,or late ,as it's just too hot during the day,it is either me getting old ,or the temperatures in this country has gone to the dogs,i used to love hot weather and chose the middle east for my postings becauise i relished the heat. Now ,it's a different story, and how,i have come indoors ,the sweat rolling down my brow[and other places i'm not allowed to mention] ne na ne na,[know what i mean?] i have had a cold shower, have sat on here and the sweat is starting again,so i think i will be ringing the hospital and cancelling tonight ,it's going to be far too hot to do any bike work lol. I hope everyone else is enjoying the weather ,and you all had a nice weekend ,it's okay for an oldy like me ,retired and not having to go to work in this heat,so for those of you who have to work indoors without cooling systems ,i send my sympathy, and for those of you working outside ,please don't do a Fred, and land up in hospital ,or have to take to bed with lotions and whatever ,it ain't worth it ,i found out the hard way he he. I'm off for now to send a fw e/mails and brows the net ,catch you all later, have a nice day all.and take care. Fred.PtfT&A&G&G&S. |

Good evening all I am glad to say my niece and her boyfriend who live in London. Are in Italy working for the summer before going back to Uni. Also her mother ,my sister and her husband were caught up in the scare in Birmingham took ages to get away. Another daughter was going to go to the clubs on Broad street when they were stopped. I remember years ago my sister who was not very punctual, as usual was late to a disco which was bombed just before she got there. It was the IRA at that time. We have seen the parades in London on TV here in Perth WA makes me feel proud to see that Britain is not giving in to the low lifes. My dad was in the Royal Marines on the Russian runs. If he was alive he would have marched. Kindest Regards to you all Pam |

Hi all, Well it took me some time to get moving this morning. First had breakfast and read the newspaper, then made some brown bread all before I had a shower! I then did some dusting - not done too often in my house - and tidied up the sitting room generally, watering plants, even throwing a plant away that looked a bit old and droopy. Must look for some new ones soon. Then it was time for lunch. Johan is still altering things in our kitchen, so this is his day for the kitchen. He is putting a longer cable on the microwave and hanging it on the wall, as well as other things. I try to keep out of his way when he is in the kitchen as I get all cross - the kitchen is my domain! I have cooked some chicken for tonight and grated a cucumber for a salad. Hey, all of you who have hot sun, send it here as it is nice here but not really warm. Now to get down to Linda's ironing, then maybe some more card making. Have a nice day. Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, I thought I had added yesterday but I must have imagined it. Fred, I also get up early and hose the garden down, it seems to freshen everywhere up and helps keep the flies away. I know where you are getting hot Fred, lol Brenda, Make the most of this weather and enjoy just sitting, you are always on the go. I have found a couple of houses I like but still haven't sold my own. Pam, Thanks for thinking of us 'Brits'. mad dogs we may be but we dont scare easily. Sylvia v O, Its hard to believe that you are not having this hot weather, you certainly wouldn't be putting the oven on for baking. I'm off now, ebjoy the sunshine. June xx PS, I still haven't got my PC back yet. |

Hi everyone, Its lovely and sunny here again. I got a better night's sleep last night, I think I was so exhausted from losing sleep the night before. I still have some plants to put in I hope to get to them today, yesterday was just too hot to stand there. I had intended doing them last night but got overtaken by other events. Brenda, I am so glad I dont work now, it must be unbearable for you. I really feel sorry for anyone having to work in this heat. When I was working and we had a very hot spell, one day I sent my girls out, two at a time, into the gardens for a breather, just for 10 minutes, it improved work performance and tempers. When you work under artificial lights and with computers all around you. it gets abnormally hot. There hasn't been many postings as yet, I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. June xx |

Hi all, So Sylvia Whalley, you thought you'd add two threads to make up for those not posting at the moment. Well at last we've got the warm sunshine. This morning we went to my daughter for her birthday which was last Saturday and this afternoon to an old ex-neighbour of 82 who is in an old people's residence here. Johan and I were walking round in circles looking for this elderly lady. Somebody had told me it was no 123, but it was 23! I lost Johan and had just found my destination when Johan also turned up, alls well that ends well. She was so pleased to see us, which makes me feel so guilty as I kept promising her I'd go and visit. See you all tomorrow Sylvia xxx |

See you all soon, love Brenda |

Hello and Good Morning Everyone. To the Other Sylvia, I didn't mean to post my message twice. Sorry for that. I expect it is the good weather you are having that is keeping people off the board. It is very cold and wet over here in WA but I am glad to hear you are having some nice warm weather. I can't wait for our Summer to start. It has been a miserable Winter so far. My husband and I have both had 'flu but we are on the mend now, I think. See you all again soon, Sylvia W XX |

Hi Everyone Thought I had better show the flag from further down under. I do envy your lovely sunshine, like Sylvia in Oz we do miss it.I think we all tend to become used to different climates, what is hot for some is just right for others but for me,just the sun going behind the clouds is too cold. We are trying to shake off a bout of flu so sorry if I sound miserable. To add to our woes,a very dear family member has been diagnosed terminally ill so my husband takes of to the USA tomorrow as his cousin wishes to see him. Well, enough of my misery I'll call in later when the mood is happier. Regards, JudyNZ PS Don't children know how to cheer you up ? My 6yr old grandaughter visited yesterday and said she was thirsty, jokingly I asked 'would you like a glass of water'' her reply 'well, water would probably be healthier but I would prefer fruit juice' !! |

Hi everyone, It is a bit overcast here today but still warm. Thankgoodness yesterday wasn't as hot as Monday and Tuesday when it was over 30C. We have been wanting to decorate the bathroom but it has been too hot, now that it is slightly cooler, we may be able to start. I haven't done very much this week, because of the heat, I have been very lazy, just watering the plants in the evening. Sylvia v O, I'm so pleased the warm weather has reached you at last, I thought for one moment that you weren't going to have a summer this year, lol Brenda, These windows in the roof are alright until you get a hot summer, When I was working, they had to put blinds on the roof windows because of the heat and shining on the PC screens. Sylvia W, I hope both you and Norman are over your bout of flu and that the weather improves for you soon. Judy, I think you are so used to sun that you miss it more than we do, we are so used to being without it that we are pleased to get the little we get. I hope you are soon over your flu. Sorry to hear about your husband's cousin, it's a very stressful time. I hope everyone else is OK, dont overdo the sunbathing! June xx |

Good afternoon all,it's come to the stage now where i am getting up at four in the morning ,watering the garden and lawns ,cutting hedges ,having breakfast ,and then doing housework. The idea is to finish all the work before the heat builds up too much, and then going for a cold shower before turning the puter on. I must admit that i feel more comfortable doing it this way ,but i'm worn out by six,and have had quite a few early nights this last three weeks [sorry Maz]. i had startred the hedges at dinner time ,the first time it's been cool enough this week ,and would'nt you know it ,it started to p****** down when i had only half finished the inside.sods law i suppose. Don't you all enjoy your cooking at the moment?,we hav'nt had a hot meal in days ,it's salad with everthing ,i can't even be bothered to do my fish and chips, and certainly couldn't go to my fav' place down on the north shields quay ,i could'nt sit in at all in this heat,i find it only bearable after eight in the evening ,and by that time i don't fancy going anywhere. Liz isn't doing too well ,this heat isn't doing her breathing any good at all ,and even i am affected ,and i only have ccd ,mostly ashma, but i know a lot of the members are a lot worse off than that, well i'm afraid i'm off to sit in the doorway ,the sweat is rolling down my face again and my cool feeling after the shower has worn off ,syal .Fred.PtfT&A&G&G&S. |

Hi all Just touching base with everyone. It certainly seems that you have got some hot weather in England. At the moment in Tassie we have got a cold southerly wind, we are expecting snow on the mountain over the next few days, if it is like the rain that has been forcast and has never got here we will still be waiting when its summertime lol. The government and council are still running around trying to get into place more wind farms to generate more power before we will have shortages with our hydro (water generated) power, as the dams are at a very low level, they havent been this low since the late 60's, when they had to ration the power, and there is a lot more power usage now than back then. Not much else is news over here, I have had my back playing up the last couple of days, the day before yesterday, I was making the bed and when I finished I sat down for a coffee and when I got up my back was aching and it got worse during the day and up to yesterday. I rubbed some Voltaren cream on my back and today it seems a bit better. It hasnt played up for ages, I think I have back problems from years of working early mornings lugging bundles of newspapers around doing deliveries, anyway enough moaning about me, I hope everyone is well and enjoying whatever you are doing. |

Hello everyone, I noticed today that I have a little note on my home page to renew but have until 8th August so not going to do anything about it just yet. Susan started her radiotherapy again on Monday and her chemo will start on Friday. I don't think she is enjoying her trips to London as it has been so hot but she is going in the mornings so can rest for a while when she gets home. The hospital gave her strict instructions to keep away from places where there are lots of people to cut the risk of her picking up any infections. The good news is her hair is beginning to grow again. Recently I tried digging in my garden, the nettles and brambles seem to be going mad out there. We have lived here for 45 years and the garden has been dug many times but it is quite amazing how the big stones, even half bricks etc. still keep coming to the surface. It makes it so hard to dig out roots, I don't really like using weed killers but it seems to be the only way to clear them and the dreaded bindweed is back - it took me years to get rid of it and now the wretched stuff is coming back. I would really like to clear the whole garden, all the shrubs have outgrown their spaces and it's difficult to make them look tidy though they all flower well. I could really do with Alan Titchmarsh and his team but they are not doing that anymore. June, you mentioned about my kitchen recently - well would you believe it STILL isn't finished? The painting is still only half done and there are a couple of other little jobs to finish - Chris keeps saying he will get on with it..........!!!!!! I have now threatened to do it myself so I hope that will get him moving. If I can find where he has hidden the paint that isn't a problem but the carpentry jobs I would have a problem with as I can't move the washing machine. I'm off to bed now - hope you flu sufferers are recovered now and that everyone else is keeping well. Fred hope that you and Liz are not suffering too much with the heat, not too good when you have breathing problems. Sleep well God bless Love Kathleen |
