June Report 31 Jul 2005 21:49

Hi everyone, Today turned out to be a nice sunny day and all the washing was dried. This afternoon, we have taken my granddaughter to the airport, she is off again to Copenhagen, she loves it there. She was rather nervous of going this time with all the terrorists activities. Kathleen, I think you and I are suffering from the same bug, I never seem to achieve much each day, I dont know where the times goes. Also my brain is asleep most of the time.lol Brenda, I hope your PC is ok now. Paul did put up a thread last week asking who was still going to Leeds, it made me wonder whether some had been put off with all the terrorist activities. Sylvia, What a shame about Johan's licence, I'm sure there should be something done about that. My son in law has had a similar thing, his insurance company took a full years out instead of a months from his bank account, making him overdrawn and incurring charges, Fortuneately they have admitted they were in the wrong, refunded the money and sorted the bank charges out, but it's just another irritation to deal with. Tomorrow, my gaughter has to go for another MRI scan, she is getting herself all worked up, she really hates them. I am off to bed soon, last night I didn't get a lot of sleep, I kept getting disturbed. So I will speak again tomorrow. June xx

John Report 1 Aug 2005 01:54

Hello everybody August already, soon it will be Christmas. June I got to use my son's digital camera at church yesterday the photos I took were good, well that's what my son said. I get to use it again in a couple of weeks as he wants me to take some shots as he won't be at at church outreach in a shopping mall. There have been too many fatal road crashes involving teenagers over the past few weeks . On Friday four teenagers aged between 14 and 17 were killed another two are in hospital in a critical condition. Sadly one family lost one of their two sons. Boys and fast cars racing on the roads are bad combination, resulting in many dying on the country's roads. I am listening to talkback radio and teenage drivers is the hot topic at the moment. We had a great weekend, our son celebrated his 31st birthday yesterday and the three of us when out for dinner - he got a free one (mind you we have also had free meals on our birthdays). John

Hi John ,and everyone else, I have a digital camera and think its great,I don;t print my pictures any more ,too exspensive on the ink for my printer. I put them on the pc and if I want hard copies I take the memory stick to th eshops that have the machines it is very cheap, compared to buying paper and ink. Agree with you about boys ,cars etc,not a good combination. Of out to deliver birthday cards etc to my brothers ,its his wifes, sons and grandaughters birthdays this week. Brenda

Hi all, It seems to me that there are a lot of us on holiday, or are you all doing something else? I know Fred is busy photographing ships as he sent me some photos by e-mail. Thank you Fred they are lovely. Nice to see you and yours as well. I have had a restful day as my pedicurist came today and did my feet. I have known her a long time so it is more of a social visit and we have a laugh and a natter. She stayed for lunch too. The weather has been brighter here today and we actually saw the sun. So it is now August, another month gone by. Summer almost over. Summer, what summer, where did it go? Still haven't made final plans for holiday as Johan has to get passed by the doctor. I have to push him to make a telephone call. MEN! See you all tomorrow Sylvia xxx

Kathleen Report 2 Aug 2005 13:08

Hello everyone, This will be my last week with GR as my membership is due to expire on 8th, I will not be renewing this time for several reasons. However I do have e-mail addresses for some people and I will keep in touch. I have enjoyed 'chatting' with you all. I shall continue to post on here as long as I am able - at least for a few more days. This site has been great fun in the past and I have made a few very good friends and received help with my research which has been much appreciated. It is a really nice day here now though a bit of a damp start, misty not rain and warming up nicely. Susan is feeling a little better and Indira has been keeping herself busy helping her Mum and going out and about. Recently she took herself off to London and visited with my sister, soon she will be going to Sussex to visit her cousin and the new baby. An adventurous young lady and a very sensible 14 year old, maybe just a little too independent for my peace of mind. I am off to do some work now - my excercise, I walk about 2 miles, wish I had a pedometer to check if I do the 10,000 steps. It feels as if I do at the end of the day. Hope you all have a good day God bless Love Kathleen ps just had to delete a few messages - GR had the usual problem with the 'error' page and I found this message had repeated several times.

Hi everyone, I am back on my PC at long last. My grandson's friend came round yesterday and I am able to be in contact again, although I haven't XP at the moment, I think the CD may be in Denmark, lol He's supposed to be coming again today to have a look at my laptop. So here's hoping. John, Its so easy with digital isn't it, I can see being converted over before long. I know what you mean about youngsters and their driving, I'm surprised there aren't even more of them killed. The problem is, they take innocent parties with them and they dont realise the hurt caused to parents. Sylvia, It looks like you will have to make the phone call for Johan, or you may find it will be next summer that you will be visiting England. As you say, MEN!! Brenda, At the moment, I intend going to Leeds, if its still on, but we have had an offer on the house so I dont know if that will have any bearing on my trip. Kathleen, I will miss you so much, I have enjoyed talking to you and hearing how Susan is coping. How is the kitchen doing, has it been finished yet? I think you have my email addie but I will send it to you in case it has gone astray. Some of my email addies have been lost with my computer problems (all caused by Norton) Well I will now go and look to see if I have any emails. Speak tomorrow. June xx

Hi all, Well, we are a step in the right direction. Johan has an appointment with the doctor for the 17th August. And I thought all the patients were on holiday! If all goes well, then when the doctor has passed him, it should be no problem to renew his driving license. I dare not book a holiday yet though - that would be inviting trouble. Annemie came back from Germany and we caught up today with exchanging our news. I then went out to the shops as the sun was shining. Who knows what it will do tomorrow! I have booked a taxi for Annemie and myself and my scootmobile tomorrow. We are going to the folklorist market in an old fishing village. There is a braderie, demonstrations of various hobbies etc.etc. Lots of fish stalls of course. I don't know whether I'll be on here tomorrow as I'll probaboy be knackered. Anyway, have a nice day everybody. I know I will. Sylvia xxx

Hi All Kathleen, I havent really got to talk to you much since I joined this thread, but I wish you all the best and I hope Susan continues to beat her health problems and that she has a reasonably good quality of life. My renewal is due on the 1st Sept, I have a little Renew word underlined in my welcome back box at the top left of the page, still not sure what I will do yet, but I do love talking and more so reading about everyones adventures and lifestyles in other parts of the world. Sylvia good luck for Johan's driving test I'm sure he will be ok. As John (I think) mentioned on here earlier about the young and accidents of late that have taken teenagers lives. We in Tassie had a patch of accidents involving young drivers and resulting in quite a few deaths in a short period of time. I personally think they should make it compulsory to attend advanced driving courses to learn how to handle a car properly and to have refresh classes every so often. Its just my opinion it will not stop all accidents but it would not do any harm. Fred have you got back from your tall ships adventure? I would love to see some of the photos that you took, Are you going to put them on the photopage or would I be asking too much for you to email some pics to me? Well our weather is reasonably mild for this time of year, we havent had hardly any frosts and only a little bit of rain, but the temps are cool we have been ranging around 3 degrees celsius overnight to about 14 during the day. well must go and do a bit more work, catch you all later.

June Report 3 Aug 2005 06:27

Hi everyone, I'm not sure what sort of day we are in for, its still a bit early o tell but I couldn't sleep. At the moment it is dry although there was heavy rain last evening. Last evening we went for a second look at a house we fancied but I dont think the lady is prepared to negoiate at all. Funnily enough I wasn't upset about that, this time I didn't feel quite as happy about it as I had done previously. So whatever will be, will be. My grandson's friend didn't come yesterday to sort out my laptop, he had to go into Uni to sort out something for next year, hopefully he will be around today. Sylvia, Maybe the doctors are on holiday too. lol Either way I hope Johan gets his licence sorted soon and you can go ahead and plan your holiday. I hope you and Annemie have a good day out, you will have to tell us what you get up to and what you buy. Sue, I hope you renew your membership, I do enjoy talking to you and hearing what's happening in your corner of the world. You say about you having reasonable temperatures, I feel that for at least the last couple of years, our winters have been milder too. It must be this Global warming that they keep telling us about. I would like to think that the young ones could benefit from advanced driving but to me its as though the minute they get behind a steering wheel, 2 horns poke out of their head and away they go bearing down on some poor unsuspecting motorist or pedestrian. Anyway, enough of me on my soapbox. See you all tomorrow. June xx

Hi everybody, Well what a day. Annemie and I went to Spakenburg, a little fishing village about half an hour's drive away from here, lovely weather, well it was when we set out! There must have been a hundred stalls, selling just about everything as well as craft stalls etc. I bought a piece of craft work. It is the size of a card, plastic mesh weaved in and out with narrow ribbon, in the form of a man's shirt with collar and three buttons, very effective. I have bought a piece of the plastic so some day or other will have a go myself. We were looking for a place for a cup of coffee, well there were many places but no seats as it was so crowded. And then it began to rain, and my did it rain. I was absolutely soaked, my shoes were filled with water and even my underwear. It felt as if I had wetted my pants. I was then very cold. By thjs time it was possible to find a sit, outside in the rain! We couldn't even shelter anywhere as people were sheltering by the stalls, you couldn't get in or out of shops etc. so many people. Eventually we managed to find a seat outside as it had stopped raining, and ordered some lunch. We had some wine with it but I really should have had something hot. When I arrived home I had a warm shower and put on all clean dry clothes. In spite of this, we did enjoy ourselves. This evening the man brought my new Braun mixer which I had found on the internet site. It has hardly been used and I have it for half price. I have had a Kenwood for 35 years and found it heavy going and decided I wanted an up to date machine, and looked in the shops to see what I wanted. I noted down numbers and found this one, then looked for a secondhand one on the internet site. There was only one. The man asked if I was home this evening between 7 and 8 and he would deliver the machine. Ok. I now have to read up all the gen, but not now. Tomorrow we are going to friends in Heiloo which is not far from the sea. We will start off with coffee, stay for lunch and most probably dinner too. These are good friends of ours. Another set of friends of ours phoned today, so Johan said, and they also want us to go to them. Oh what it is to be popular! LOL Now see you tomorrow Sylvia xxx

Hi everybody, Where are you all? Couldn't believe it when I found this thread had been put back to page 10. I've had a lovely day with friends in the north of the Netherlands. Arrived for coffee, stayed for lunch and dinner. Feel rather tired now with having to talk so much. Found out today that Nederland is going to do the same as Germany and France and stop issuing new driving licences to persons who have diabetes. I hope Johan gets his driving license before this system is applied. Why do we have to copy other countries? The weather has been dry all day today, but the forecast is bleak for tomorrow when I want to go to the market. Just my luck to get soaked again I suppose. See you all tomorrow. Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone We have a beautiful day here in Auckland, cold first thing but warms up as the day progresses. Our mild winter is to continue like this until October so we could expect the bad weather as summer approaches. The other day I mentioned that our cat, Tiny went to the vet, and had to go back for a urine test yesterday and refused to pass urine. At the time of typing she is still there. Cats. I am bit miffed with myself a few months back I bought a box of films [two 24 rolls and a 30 roll] have almost finished one of the 24 roll but now that there is a digital camera about my camera is becoming obsolete. Speaking about cameras I have just received photos that Craig took, one is a panorama of our Sally band taken in the shopping mall a few weeks ago, three photos merged to make one, brilliant! John

Hi everyone, Thank goodness its stopped raining, last night it was pouring down but the sun is now peeping through so fingers crossed. Yesterday my daughter started a little parttime job, only 2 mornings a week but she thought it would get her used to work again. Unfortuneately, although she loved the company of the other girls, she was in agony last night, so much so, that she was physically sick. At first we thought it was because she was standing a lot but ahe has just remembered that she used her arms a lot at shoulder level which must have irritated the back of her neck. It is so annoying to think that driver is driving around without a care in the world. Sylvia v O, I'm sorry you were left alone on the board, I thought I posted yesterday but there isn't a message there, so I must have dreamed it again. I too get cross when the UK follows other country's rules, the one that really irritates me is 'To conform with EU regulations' the drinking water isn't up to standard, yet we go to Spain, we end up with upset tummies! I hope Johan gets his licence sorted soon so that you can arrange your holiday. Brenda, I hope you didn't get another bad head, PC s do irritate the situation dont they? John, I would still hold on those films, if you are at a special occasion or on holiday, it could be useful to have 2 cameras in use. Both my daughter and myself have digitals and we often find that though we appear to be taking the same photograph, when we put them on the PC, we have each picked up different angles etc. The 3 merged photos sound very interesting. Well I supposed I should now get dressed and tidy up the house for weekend, not that there is a lot to tidy up, with my granddaughter away there is a notable lack of of shoes just kicked off as she comes through the door, lol Have a good weekend everyone. Speak soon, June xx

Well It is nice to see more members on here today. I had a bad night - doesn't happen very often fortunately, and was up at 6.30 am. I am feeling really knackered. I always say I mustn't go away two days in succession, but have just done that this week, and now I'm suffering for it. I went to the market this morning with Annemie and we managed to get back before any rain. I bought myself some new house slippers today, so all ready for the winter! Linda has been to help me in the house today and she goes on holiday Monday so will miss her for two weeks. Yesterday I had an e-mail from my niece and the title of her thread 'I'm still alive'. Yes, it was nice to hear from her. She lives in Sharm el Sheikh and witnessed the bombing there, but she herself is unharmed. See you tomorrow Sylvia xxx

Hi peeps,i am having to write this again as i had just finished doing it last time ,and hit add message, and yes, you've guessed it the lot went awol ,and i got error, cannot find server,AGAIN.this has happened three times this week, and it is soooo annoying.I have sent a message to feed back ,but i'm not holding my breath. Anyway,to start again,i am sorry for not putting in an appearance for a few days ,but i was under parr due to either flu ,or a bug ,which left me a bit yukkie.lol. I have found a new pal ,i was locking up the greenhouse last night to keep the chill off the peppers when i heard a snuffling behind me.On turning round i saw the back end of a little hedgehog trying to get out from under the net i had put over the kale to keep the pidgeons off.The only thing i could do was get down on my hands and knees to try to get it out.so there i was like a monk ,or a muslim doing three hail mary's in the middle of the patio, god alone what the neighbors will have been thinking. I had to flatten the netting ,and work along it to shove the little blighter into the corner where i could get a hold of it. i did manage at the finish ,and i picked it up gently ,and i don't know if somehow it knew i was'nt going to hurt it ,because it lay in my hands quiet ,and still, 'till i put it down on the end of the lawn.. It shuffled off towards the roses ,and i could swear it looked back and threw it's nose in the air as if to say, right ho mate ,and you know what you can do too. I hope it will stay around to keep the slugs and snails away, and if it's still here in the autumn ,i will be looking for some straw for a hiding place for it,and can see myself doing the odd bit of raw beef mince once in a while ,i draw the line at chopping worms again like i did for busby my thrush. I'm off now to put jacket spuds in for the tea,i won't use a mic cause i like my skins crisp,i think it's a cheese day ,along with home grown salad yum.syal .Fred.[hoping for a photo this evening of[ Shuffles] the urban hedgehog.

Hope Gaynor hasn't done to much damage,a girl I worked with had a neck problem after a car accident and she had two ops.but still had pain, she now uses one of those tens machines to help control the pain. Sylvia,so pleased your neice is ok bet you feel better knowing she is ok. John animals are like kids, they will do what they want in situations like that. Fred,I think you have missed your calling ,I have been howling with laughter (in a nice way)at the thought of you and your hedgehog.and could just go a nice buttery cheesey spud.Think that might be tea for tomorrow. Have to sort out some washing now and get the machine going, didn't do any this morning before work, didn't like the look of the weather,!!! Speak to you tomorrow,Take care Brenda

Hi Everyone Here I am back again after a short spell off the boards. John.the Auckland weather is a sore point in this household (even though I was born & brought up there)at the moment. My husbands flight from LA was diverted to Ch.Ch,due to fog in Auckland so he was a very tired bunny when he finally arrived home some 13 hours later than predicted !But for all that he was full of praise for Air NZ. Fred, what a sight to see at least you covered all bases with your description i.e. Allah and the Lord. your little friend sounds cute. We have a cattle stop at our front gate and regularly check for little hedgehogs who occasionally slip through the grating. We also make sure there are bowls of water in the garden during Summer, they are delightful little critters and always entertain the granchildren. Sylvia so glad to hear your niece is safe and well such a relief for you.Our eldest grandaughter is working over in London so I know it can be a worry at these times. June I do hope your daughter doesn't have too many ongoing problems with her neck. An idiot ran into the rear of my car over thirty years ago and I suffered whiplash which still gives me problems from time to time. Before I sign off, was it Sue who said she might not renew with GR. Please stay on board after much thought I renewed last month and although we get a load of rubbish on some threads they are easy to ignore and this thread and the Tips Board are well worth the membership.I have met and had wonderful assistance from many on this site Regards to All JudyNZ
