Well had a relaxing day as I had a member from Genes C for coffee this morning. Was nice talking English again. Mind you, she did most of the talking. I know she won't mind me saying this, but she was such a bubbly sort of person, very talkative, lots of laughs. It is very cold here and I've got the central heating on again. Oh I do hate the cold. So June you have been doing some packing, good for you. If you are like me, you pack some things, then decide to throw some things out and in that way it goes fast. I tried to get a meeting of members here in the Netherlands, but not much response. Maybe a bad time to ask in the holiday season. I'll try again some time. I realise that there are quite a few of us British here. See you tomorrow, Sylvia xxx |

June, I think Simon and family will be back here by Christmas and it will be lovely to have them so near.I hope we will all be together for Christmas this year and am looking forward to it so much. Norman is looking forward to it too, which is a change for him. The weather has been lovely here today, quite like Spring. I hope it is good wherever you are. Hi all,,specially to Sylvia ,who seems to have been keeping the thread going on her own for two days.Well done that lady. I see n..z seems to be having a bit of rough weather along with Aus,and yes Sue, Omeo did cop it ,i was looking at the mountain cameras today ,and it looks pretty bad at the minute. I have a sneaky feeling what with the summer weather ,that dear old blighty may come a cropper this winter as well,we havn't had a bad winter in some time ,and it's about due. I did get some more photos of the new arrival yestreday ,and will get them downloaded when i get a minute,i took one of whitley bay lighthouse as well but it seems to have gone missing .but i do have a couple of nice ones of the castle and priory ,where the mad geordie crew met up on the day of the ships race. i must get down to hequayside tomorrow ,it's time i had my monthly treat from the Waterfront ,a large piece of their haddock ,and some of their lovely chips [oh joy ] .Must be off now ,it's time for my stroll round the block .Fred.PtfA&G&G&S. |

Hi everybody, Not such a bad day weatherwise so I scooted down to the shops and then of course I had a few drops of rain, but nothing really to speak of. Every time when I decide I'll start and clean some windows I change my mind. Today was such a day again. I changed the beds, washed the duvets etc.etc. and cleaned the bathroom and toilet. You see this is where I miss Linda as she is on holiday and usually does the bathroom and toilet for me. Oh Linda, come back! Tomorrow is market day so no windows again. I also have an appointment with the dermatologist again. He is going to look at the new spot I have, which is weeping. Then there is Saturday and Sunday when I will not do any housework. Cooking and washing and ironing, but no housework. I have a text to look at for somebody. It is some translation work which I did for him and now it has been printed and I have to check that the typezetter hasn't made any mistakes. I always seem to get jobs to do. I have to make a wallet for my grandson to hold all his cooks knives, but I haven't even got the material out of the trunk yet. Oh me, oh my, give me strength to carry on! I don't really mind of course, as I have such a varied number of jobs to do. Now, let's leave some space for somebody else. See you tomorrow. Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, This morning looked very dull so I took my umbrella with me to Leeds but thankgoodness I didn't need it. As Brenda says the food was very good at the Chinese Restaurant and so was the company. There was a lot of talking and laughing going on. Afterwards we went round the market, there were some good bargains to be had but I didn't buy anything, I have enough to pack as it is. Sylvia v O, It would be good if you could arrange a Netherlands meet, it makes such difference talking to someone you have met and know what they look like. You always are doing favours for people, thats why you never have any time for yourself, oh the joys of being a grandmother. Sylvia Whalley in Oz, I do so hope Simon and family get back before Christmas too, what a Christmas that will be! Fred, Have you had your eyes tested lately, lol There are 2 Sylvias, Sylvia v O, and Sylvia Whalley and you are ignoring me , sob, sob. Shant come on every day from now on, lol Brenda, My washing has dried very well too. I'm hoping there is a kind fairy around somewhere. We didn't manage a long talk but at least I have you on camera this time. Well I will now read my emails again so see you tomorrow, except Fred of course, lol June xx |

Hi everyone The weather is a bit overcast today, no rain as yet. New Zealand is heading for a general election in September, the first of several leaders debate took place last night, however viewing stats for the night showed that people preferred to watch Coronation Street instead! We watched neither programme and viewed a tape instead. June, I saw a report on TV about film cameras and the inroads digital cameras are making. It said infamous shots would never see the light of day as they could be deleted at the time, so photos of people like Clinton and Monica would never see the light of day. The camera retailers say film could make a comeback. John |

Oh cripes June [smacks hand and stands in the corner]sorry and all that ,but i was sooooo busy setting up the camera and chatting on the yahoo site i forgot to mention the others on the page.Snuffles, the little begger never turned up again ,and to cap it all off ,i had a run in with two hungry thrushes this morning and they left me a little miffed[ see canadian friends thread]. I have had my mini sulk now and have rejoined the fray as it were and it looks like a weekend on the puter ,the weather is'nt allowing much else up here. Liz has opted for a toasted pannini for her tea ,so i have taken a couple out of the freezer ,and i will slice them shortly ,get the illings out ,and do her tea early so that she can go to bed as soon as she is ready. I will be out in the car tomorrow looking for a few more shots of our country side plus a few of our town ,which i might add i am proud of seeing as they were taken a few years ago ,and i have just found out how to digitalise them and transfered to my computer. Off to do the tea for the missus ,but i should be back later,Fred.Thrushed , eeeer i meant thrashed ,by two birds ptfA&G&G&S. |

Hi everybody, Yes June, I thought it would be a nice idea to have a meeting here in the Netherlands, but only two people put their names forward. No interest??????????? With all this talk of nudgers I don't like to nudge my own thread up, but would like to meet some of the others who live here. I managed to get to the market today without getting wet, and back, albeit a few drops! When I came back I tried out some more gadgets on my new kitchen machine. I made plum mousse, grated carrots and beetroots and juiced 5 kilo oranges. I then went to the dermatologist and he thinks the 'new spot' is actually the place where he took no.2 spot away and I've scratched it open (in my sleep?) Anyway he is convinced it will heal ok. I have to return in November if nothing happens in the meantime. I'm going to have a nice hot shower now (I've put the central heating on) and throw all my clothes in the washing machine. We always eat fish on a Friday, or at least should I say usually, and my clothes now smell of fish - ugh! Have a nice evening and see you tomorrow Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Its rather damp underfoot but not raining at the moment. I want to do some more packing today, I think I will start on the airing cupboard, it is quite a big one, consequently, it gets used for storage more than anything else. I need to see how many sets of curtains there are in there because I am not sure yet whether the people selling to us are taking or leaving their curtains. I know we will be changing them to match our furniture but we need some up while we are doing our alterations. John, Although I like digital cameras, I would hate film cameras to vanish completely. I dont like to think of people being out of work for one thing, there is already too much unemployment. I very rarely delete any of my photos, I transfer them all on to me PC and then on to a CD. My daughter often puts the CD on to her PC too. Fred, I have forgotten the matter already, how could I really be cross with you, lol I'm sorry Snuffles didn't come back, hopefully he will drop in again. Brenda, I had a clearout when Gaynor moved in, I had to make some room for her clothes. I found I still had size ten clothes there and I cant see me ever getting back to that size, even if I come off the steroids. Its surprising though, I think I could still get rid of more. Sylvia v O, I would go ahead and meet the other two member of Genes, other people will soon want to join the three of you. Go ahead and nudge the message but leave the n there for all to see, I dont think the complaints are about genuine nudges, they are about the ones that are done for no reason. Good news about the spot, I hope it soon heals. well I'd better see if my granddaughter is up being as she works Saturdays but has Mondays off. Have a good weekend. June xx |

Hi All Have been busy and not been on GR much. My Dad was really seriously ill in hospital and he is so much better now and home. Thought we were going to lose him. Brenda, Surfers Paradise is a 40minute drive from our place. Mornington is a beautiful spot, very scenic. June, Our Christmas get togethers are really zany. We are a mad lot. We have the best time, All the kids and the hubbys and my son and his fiance and the grandkids all stay over so we are all together Xmas morning around the tree. The house ends up just about trashed, but it is what I call a happy mess. My grandson and granddaughter have learnt a bit of papua new guinea, and I know when my son and Kotomi have a child he or she will also be taught Japanese. Our kids will always have a place with us any time they need it, We help them out whenever we can if they need it, and the love we receive in return is priceless. I hope all of you in the UK are having nice weather. I cant wait for our summer to start, I dont like the cold. Best wished to everyone. Lynda (Qld) |

Pleeeease,Sylvia ,can June and i come for dinner? me cause it would make achange from my own cooking, and june cause she is sooo busy doing her packing ,AND,your meals sound so lovely [we promise to wash up for you afterward]. I have been doing the family tree again this evening ,putting a few more names in ,including Lewis ,but there seems to be no end to it at the moment, and more seems to be coming in all the time. I was in touch with someone last week to do with the name Rowe,,and at the time i didn't think there was any connection ,but loe and behold ,i was looking at the list tonight and there were three people of that name ,all in australia, and i have lost the contact name, daft begger that i am. Still no garden ,Liz is now thinking of growing rice next year,as most of the seeds wev'e put in these last few weeks have not come up ,and we think they must have drowned. well ,i think i will have an early night ,seeing as i did so badly last evening ,and i notice our dreams of a win on the lottery have hit the rocks again ,what a bummer, but i bet we ain't the only ones on here tonight who have struck out again lol. Hi All I have been a bit quiet for a couple of days. Too busy sitting by the heater lol. As you have heard that Tassie and Victoria had a cold front that bought snow in some places and very cold temps in other places. The mountain near Launceston that is a popular Ski place finally started there ski season with the coldest temp being -8 at the coldest period during the cold snap. It even snowed in some suburbs of Hobart, where it hadnt snowed for about 20 years in that area. A lot of children loved it as in many areas they stayed home due to the roads having snow on them and even though the snow wasnt deep, they stayed home incase it got worse. Sylvia in Aus, What is it like at the moment in W.A.? I hope you and Norm are ok. June sounds like you are very busy packing. Our landlord has talked about selling the house we are in and buying another one, which we can move into. They asked us if we minded and we had no objections, he is pretty good to us and if and when he buys a house he will keep in mind that we would love to stay around the same area due to work for David and School for the kids. Then I thought gee I will have to sort all this stuff out and think about getting things ready incase he buys a place, So I might give the place a real good spring clean and try and throw some things that are no good or donate the items we are not using. Fred, I didnt get to look on the snowcams but I could imagine it would be plenty of snow around. Also I sent you a message in regards your last posting, I may be able to help you out. Well Hello to everyone else on the thread that I havent mentioned. Ooh just before I go I had better mention that I am going to be around for a while yet as David renewed my membership the other night so I am paid up until September 2006. |

Hello Everyone. Hope you are all OK. Sue, Norman and I are fine at present, thanks. The weather here is not very good at the moment. It's very cold and wet and was very windy last night. I don't suppose it is anywhere near as cold as it is over there though. I hope you are keeping warm.Take care! Love to all from Sylvia in WA XX |

Hi everyone, Its brilliant sunshine today, so hopefully it will stay that way. Yesterday we had lovely sunshine one minute and heavy showers the next. I did manage to clear the airing cupboard though so I now have boxes nicely labelled with the contents in, especially a box of curtains, I dont know what curtains they will be leaving, if any. Lynda (Qld), I hope your father is continuing to make progress, it is much easier when they are home. Your house sounds a happy place to be, families are very important, doesn't matter if they make a mess, it will always clear up. All these different languages will help the children education wise. Linda, Sorry to hear it is cold and wet in Perth too. Glad to hear you are making progress with your tree, I'm at a standstill at the moment with mine, on one particular branch I am back to 1604, but have been at that point for at least 6 months, I am dying to find his father so that I can say that I am back to the 1500s. Fred, I agree, it would be lovely to go and sample Sylvia's cooking, what a good idea! Lucky you, having new names coming into your tree, its so exciting when that happens. I am at a standstill at the moment, I think when I have got this house business sorted, I will have to have a few days away, visiting grave yards. Let me know if Liz's rice fields come along, I will be your first customer, lol Brenda, I am lucky to go sideways with my tree at the moment. I dont seem to be going anywhere. Sue, I'm pleased we will still be able to chat, it does sound quite chilly where you are. I dont think I would leave the heater just yet to sort out everything, leave it until the weather gets warmer. Sylvia in WA, It certainly sounds cold and wet, the weather seems topsy turvy at the moment. Glad to hear both you and Norm are doing fine. I think I will go and make another cuppa, everyone is still asleep so I cant make any noise yet. June xx |

Had done all my washing so just need to iron it. went tosee my dad today as I do most Sundays. He cooks sunday lunch for my two neices ,as thier parents work as carers in old folks/special needs homes.so they work shifts . even when he was having chemo he insisted on doing it,to help him stay 'normal'. Need to recheck our holiday plans on the web site for the holiday company ,some friends have been trying to book to come as well. But the hotel is full, they can get the same flight but not th e hotel.
