Afternoon everyone, or is it good morning for some. What a morning we had here we woke around 7 am to find no power, our son was still asleep as his light alarm didn't work. He is profoundly deaf and has vibrating alarm on his mattress which he usually ignores until his light alarm comes on. Need to say no porridge today and rather quick shower. This week he has been starting work at 7 so it was panic stations, he contacted work to say he would be there around 8. None of us got to have any porridge or a hot drink. I decided that I would have a flat white at McCafe's for morning tea while my wife was at the podiatrist. I worked out from the timer on our heater that the power went off at 4.45 this morning. The power technician said that about a dozen houses were affected and it was an underground cable fault. The power came back on around 2pm. The weather here was cold this morning so we kind of froze as the heater wasn't working. Brenda and others I forgot to mention that on the sudoku website you can download the game and try for about a month before actually purchasing it. I started that way and then decided to buy it outright as I enjoy challenges like this, I not really keen on the Sim City thing or car one. There are other features like colour objects, letters that be used instead of numbers. John |

Hi all, Here I am, had to nudge this thread up earlier as it took me so long to find it and then I had other things to do. The weather has changed here too, although no real rain as yet, but the weatherman has promised us for tomorrow! We had our oldest inhabitant on television today as it was her birthday - she is the oldest in the world - she looked ok although a little deaf. Fancy being 115, what a lot you'd have to tell then. Well Linda comes back from holiday tomorrow evening, so hope she will come here on Friday or Saturday. It is my grandson's birthday tomorrow, but haven't seen him for a while and I'm not pleased so am keeping quiet and not 'phoning him. He never turned up with his dirty washing last Saturday and still hasn't picked up his clean clothes. I don't intend taking them round to him either. Yes, now I am cross with him too. I know it won't last, as I am not one to harbour grievances. See you all tomorrow Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, I've been out and about all day, Gaynor and I took Samantha to work then went straight to a Retail Park for a bit of retail therapy. Then we went to a local garden centre, they hadn't any bedding plants left so we went to another, got some lovely ones and headed back home. Brenda, When you know what time Coach you will be catching, please let me know, then I can find what time it leaves Preston. I am trying to find a timetable on the net. It will be good if Bren is on the same bus too, then we can have a good natter. We only had one clap of thunder and lightning then 3 hours of rain, sorry you must have had our share. Marly, Its good to hear from you again, I hope the GPs are still behaving. Sue, Our computers were lined liked that until something went wrong, I keep hoping it isn't some sort of bug. Joy, its sad that Bill has left Genes, so many of the old names keep leaving. John, We are all so helpless without our modern alarms etc. our ancestors weren't let down by the old fashioned alarms even though they had to be wound up each night.! Sylvia v O, I hope your grandson is ok and not had an accident or something. It is very worrying isn't it. Fred, I hope you and Liz are ok. Kathleen, I hope you are feeling a bit better, just take it easy, you have been under a lot of strain lately. Just come back when you are ready. Elisabeth, Jude and everyone, enjoy your summer. Well I will now have to go on Gaynor's PC, to see if I have any messages. Take care, June xx |

Hello everyone, Feeling much better now, though apparently I am a bit 'run-down' and could benefit from a tonic - any suggestions? I was also told to try to avoid getting stressed - but they didn't tell me how to do that!!! Antibiotics seem to have worked but I have to admit to feeling a bit like a wet rag, my 'get up and go' seems to have got up and gone!! Re the stress thing - Susan is now in hospital suffering from a 'pneumonia type' chest infection. She ran a very high temperature so my d-i-l (an angel in disguise, bless her) took her straight to the hospital. She is now on what they call the 'Domestos cocktail' of antibiotics (kills all know germs) :-) some by drip and some injections. Hopefully she will respond well to this but her cancer treatment has to go on hold for the time being. It's good to see some more names on this thread, old friends that it's nice to see again. Hope you are all keeping well and happy. God bless Love Kathleen |

Hi all, From a dull overcast day here to you all there basking in the sun????????????????? June, it was my son and not grandson I was trying to contact. I kept getting the engaged signal when I phoned him. Johan had installed our new telephones and numbers so that I wouldn't have to dial, but I still don't know what has happened, but he is ok. I asked my son in law who is a detective in the police in Amsterdam to send somebody round to see if they could find out anything. Yes, my son did phone and didn't know what all the fuss was about. I said he could have been lying on the floor half dead and nobody would know as he lives alone. I shall now in future dial the number myself if I want to contact him. My daughter came this morning for a short time with my grandson. She came to take him to his work as it is his birthday and she wanted to take him to a nice place for coffee first, and of course cake with it. I gave him our presents here, but he will give a party later and then we will go and celebrate. Well I must get some dinner done now. See you tomorrow Sylvia xxx |

Hi All Fred you asked what we are doing this week end. Well on Saturday I can't really tell you what I will be doing as you dont want boring mundane things mentioned :-) So I have been inspired my your happenings with you and Liz and I have decided I will chase my partner David around the kitchen with the Vaccum cleaner he he. Wont the kids wonder what is going on. On Sunday we are going to be all revved up, getting our adrenalin rush, watching the V8 supercars on TV. I follow the championship leader Marcos Ambrose as he is ex Tassie and a Ford Driver, while David is going for the Holden drivers hoping one of them can catch the Devil Racer from Tassie LOL. Well thats my weekend.... What are the rest of you up to??? |

Hi everyone Nice day down here, although it has rained. Had the gutters yesterday and house cleaned today, different days was caused by an administrative error, never mind at least anything is find for another year. Our son, Craig, heads to New Plymouth around 2pm today for an early birthday celebration of our nephew, and rather than staying with my Mum he has booked himself into a motel. So its 'Darby and Joan' at home. June - Two of your messages came on twice - 29/06/2005 22:18:33 and 29/06/2005 22:13:39 I remember the elusive Bill telling me to type messages for GR onto Notepad as it prevents those losts and when happy with it , copy/paste onto an open 'Add reply' thread. Hi Everybody Just heard on the news about the terrible floods in Queensland and part of N.S.W. do hope any of our friends from those areas are all safe and well. Kathleen, many years ago a doctor told me the best tonic of all was a glass of stout each day, takes a little while(for some) to get used to the taste but it does work.Hope you and your family are feeling much better, illness certainly does add to the stress. Marley, lovely to hear news of the GP's. Fred,my weekend will be spent trying to decipher a rellies maiden name on a birth cert. received yesterday, quite frustrating really and I am so impatient. Perhaps a couple of coffee and brandies might make it clearer !! John.the copy and paste idea sounds excellent, trouble is no matter how many times I have read how to do it from the tips board I seem to have a severe attack of CRAFT.Next time one of my grandchildren are here I'll ask for a lesson. Regards to all, love reading your messages. JudyNZ |

Good evening all... Managed to get in OK for a pleasant change....hope it lasts!!! Well my 3 teenage boys are eating me out of house and home but I couldn't ask for better boys. They are from Wales and can't remember if I said but one is my cousin's son and the others are friends of his. It's good to see politeness and concern are not lost totally to the young...they are full of questions so I am enjoying the time with them. We're all off to the beach tomorrow....they have been everyday so far but we'll go a bit further a field tomorrow...if that's possible on an Island that is only 21 miles long and 12 miles wide!!!!! My kid goats are born....2 of them, beautiful they are too. One is pure white (as is the mother) and the other is slightly creamier in colour and soooo sweet, already jumping around the rocks at the back of our house. Mother is looking after them very well so I won't be bottle feeding luckily. That would have been a new experience!!! Pleased you like the name Judy....have been told that Oleander is poisonous (I did know) but as I said there is always two sides to every coin!!!! lol Hope everyone is keeping as well as possible and hope I can get in this easily next time. Hi all, Yes, it has been a lot easier to access this thread today. Perhaps I shouldn't talk too soon! Judy, a niece of Johans in her 90s now drinks a neat Vodka every morning before breakfast. Not that she likes it, but she was told it would do her good. She is as fit as a fiddle and takes no tablets at all. Went to the market today on my scooter and got caught in a downpour. I'm glad my hairdresser did my hair after I came back today and not before! My granddaughter Linda is now back from holiday and coming here to help me in the house tomorrow. Her boyfriend is coming too - just for the pleasure she says! I've just made Linda's favourite butter cake so she will be surprised. See you all another time Sylvia xxx |

Hello Brenda and everyone. Sunny here but very cold, here in West Aussie. My daughter, mother of three has had trouble with breathing, and had a few funny turns Doctor wants her to wear a halter monitor for a little while to check her heart. It will cost $220 for 24 hours. We are all worried about her, and hope it is not serious. Hello Bill where are you? on one of your trips? All the best to you all Pam |
