Hi everyone, When I wakened up this morning there were a few flakes of snow drifting down, it was odd really, it was snowing at the front of the house but not at the back. (My house isn't that big, lol) Its now stopped, so the children here have gone to school as normal. Jude, Steady there with that soup.I can see you setting up in business, ' JUDE'S SOUP KITCHEN ' I'm fine now thanks, I think I just got over tired, this taxiing people around is tiring to me, I know people think that you only sit there and drive, yes you do but I can tell the difference when I'm not having to do it. When I get over tired I feel dizzy, so its just a case of having a rest. Brenda, You are so lucky, front row seats too! I hope your sister's photos come out well, maybe you can show them to us? Its a good idea to have one of those disposable cameras for a situation where you think it may be taken away from you. I didn't realise they were taking the Manchester Eye down, why is that? I wanted to go on it again because it wasn't a clear day when I went on it. So its this Friday that you are off to the sun, I hope you have a good time. Kathleen, I hope you and Susan are doing well and keeping warm. I believe the snow is very bad in some places, I hope the rest of you are'nt snowed in. Love June xx |

Me again, What a wonderful sunny day we've had, but oh so cold. My pedicurist came today and did my tootsies, so they feel nice again now. I dusted and tidied up my sitting room and spent the afternoon making cards. What a life. I'd love to go out, but am a bit afraid with my cough. Gosh, what a time it is taking to go over. My neighbour posted a lot of letters and cards for me - bless his cotton socks! Johan and I are still not up to drinking coffee or alcohol - just don't fancy it. Never thought I'd live the day when I refused a sherry, but honest injun it's true. I think we need some of Jude's home made soup. I just don't know how Fred can go into the garden and do some work. Well folks, that's me for now. See you tomorrow, Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, Its lovely and sunny here, still no sign of snow, thank goodness but I think it is rather cold out there. I am hoping the postman will bring me a copy of my grandfather's will today, I sent for it last week, I'm hoping it will give me a clue as to his birth. Yesterday, I found some more relatives, one family that I thought only had 4 children, I found on the census that they actually had 12! The trouble is, at the moment, my tree is growing outwards but not upwards. (Or is it downwards, lol) Sylvia, I hope you and Johan are soon feeling better, I know when I had it, the cough just wouldn't go away, in the end I had to go to the doctor for antbiotics before it cleared. Yes I think we could all do with Jude's soup, that would build us up. Its a good job you have hobbies, to keep you occupied, at a time like this Brenda, I do that, I come on briefly and then just stay on a bit longer than I should. Come on now you must pack that case, mustn't miss the plane! Have you got your passport, tickets etc ready? Anyway have a good time, I could always carry your luggage. Kathleen, Have you managed to catch up on your sleep yet, I do hope Susan is feeling better each day. Jude, How much soup have you made now? What does Madoc thing of it? Elisabeth, I know you will be flying around doing all your visits, I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Ann,Glos, I think she will be sunning herself by now. Lou will be cuddling her babies. Fred, will be cuddling his seedlings, lol Take care everyone Love June xx |

Hello, I feel I am back to stage one again with my cold, but Johan is now ok. We cannot both be ill! I was in the kitchen all morning baking bread and making some meat dishes, some of which I will freeze in. Also ran two washing machines. This afternoon was for me. Yes, I did some more card making. We had a light fall of snow here but you could almost blow it away. I cannot receive any e-mails at the moment but don't know why. Have a lovely holiday Brenda, you deserve it. I miss the stories of Madoc and Beckham these last couple of days. Do they like the snow? Will call this a day as I don't feel too good. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Hi all Brenda - have a lovely holiday and relax:o) l would think Ann is on her way now if not already there unpacking:o) Sylvia & Johan - do hope you are both feeling better soon, especially you Sylvia.Perhaps you need some antibiotics?? Now be careful about idea's of a Soup Kitchen, l'm not that keen!!! lol. I have a container of the Cream of Carrot in freezer, probably about 2 helpings in there. The neighbour has eaten all hers,(but she's poorly this morning, like flu!!!!! hope its not me soup!) but Vic (the old fart) did'nt like it - bless im, he has an excuse though - he can't taste and goes by texture alot!! Still no snow. it flutters down every now and then, been drizzling today, but not quite so cold. Madoc - well now whats he been upto??? nothing much really. We play silly devils as usual. He gets all excited after being out in the back garden - comes charging back in and stands in the kitchen just staring at the worktop!!!!! at the back is a box of BONIO'S - he gets between 1 & 2 each day, half at a time and usually after his walks. If we don't respond he comes running into the lounge head out like a pointer and tail(although it has a twirl on the end) and charges back out - well you av to give in don't yeh!!!!! last night l had a couple of biscuits with a cuppa, the biscuits were on the side board and just stood and stared, completely fixed - NOPE, he did't get any!:o( Did he like the soup someone asked - OH YES, he got the tops and tails of the carrots !! he loves his veggies. He's just gone out now with Vic,no doubt will need a wash down on his return - cold hoze, warm towels at the ready!!! When he meets other dogs now he's fine apart from still being over excited. l don't let him off for long when l'm in the park nearby cause of the road,if he see's someone or thing of interest he will just go. Sylvia - your cooking sounds gorgeous. Is there anyway you can show us your cards.l did look on that site you gave me,but could'nt see much. Ok l'm off for now.Take care all:o) Fred - how are your tomatoe's?? jude sarf wales xx |

Afternoon all, Sorry I've not been around for a few days, the time just flies! We had a lovely weekend with the young ones, taking a trip to Ikea and the Denby Pottery Visitor Centre on Saturday. They bought one more piece of flat-pack furniture, a bag full of small items and a mountain of crockery at the Denby shop. It is lovely watching other people spending money. My total purchases were four trouser hangers, two very long shoe horns and a candle. Not exactly a fortune spent. I have just been cleaning my car a bit, giving a good vacuum and cleaning the windows and lights as it is being traded in tomorrow for a nice shiney new one!! I haven't had a brand new one, all to myself for so many years. I was going to give it a wash but it is pointless with the roads so dirty. It is a glorious afternoon now, though a bit chilly in the wind. If it wasn't so cold I would do some gardening, but perhaps not today. It really looks as if spring is coming with all the daffodils opening in the sunshine. I have enjoyed reading everyones happenings, especially Madoc! I hope you are well Kathleen, and that Susan is getting along well. My love to you both. Elisabeth x |

Hello everyone, What funny weather we are having, it was snowing last night and very early this morning, then fine and quite bright for a few hours but at midday started to rain really hard. It continued until about 11 this evening and there are puddles everywhere. New floor covering laid in the kitchen this morning, it really looks very nice. The washing machine & dryer and the dishwasher had to be disconnected and moved. The dishwasher had to go outside but the washing machine was put in the conservatory. Dishwasher reconnected now but I can't use it yet, though it was covered so not affected too much by the rain the fact that it was freezing last night means it has to be given time to dry out properly - don't want it to blow up!! The washing machine still out of use - it needs a new valve on the connector as it now leaks though it didn't before. Will get one tomorrow and Chris can fix it tomorrow night when he gets home from work. This has all been a major operation as we had to remove the old tiles and clean off the adhesive, what a job that was !! All worth it though as the new vinyl flooring seems to lighten the room and make it look bigger. Susan had her ECG this morning but then went straight to her friends for a couple of days - that will be good for her, a change of scenery and she enjoys their company. Indira has gone with her and the school gave their blessing and some school work to take with her. Sylvia, I think June and others who have suggested you might benefit from antibiotics are right, this nasty strain of whatever it is seems to be going round and most people seem to need antibiotics to get rid of it. My d-i-l has been home for several days with it, she sounds dreadful and says most of her work mates have been suffering as well. Elisabeth, it is much too cold at the moment to spend any time in the garden, everything is so wet as well. It must get better sometime soon, there is no sign of that happening just yet though. Jude, Madoc is enjoying himself so much since he came to live with you. I keep thinking - maybe it would be good to get another dog - but then I remember the heartache when we lost Kyzer and I change my mind. Maybe I will just continue to enjoy your stories about Madoc and the fun you all have with him. I certainly don't miss the addiction to rolling in nasty, smelling whatevers and having to wash it off, I wonder why dogs seem to enjoy doing this so much. Fred, hope the seedlings are enjoying their nice warm home now and will soon show their appreciation by all growing into lovely strong plants. Brenda, is the Manchester Eye being dismantled or just closed down for a while? What a pity if it is removed. I haven't managed a trip on the London Eye yet but hope to go once the weather improves. Pleased you enjoyed the concert so much and lucky you to have such good seats. You know they are Sligo boys? Where my father's ancestors came from, they are very proud of them there. Ann, if I am not too late, I hope you enjoy your holiday and that the weather is better there. I believe they have had their share of bad weather as well. June, being taxi driver can be very tiring. It might not seem much just taking one person on a short trip but when it happens several times a day, plus all the usual chores including shopping, it can really be exhausting. How is your garden doing now? I remember last year you were doing quite a lot of work on it putting in new plants and erecting new fences. Hope this year we have a summer where you can reap the benefit. Hope I haven't missed anyone, sorry if I have my brain gives up after a while - where does your memory go when you lose it? That was a question my granddaughter asked me when she was 4 - she is 14 now and I still haven't thought of an answer!! Goodnight all, sleep well God Bless Love Kathleen |

Fred has snuck downstairs because it's the only time i can get onto the puter, until the grandson goes back to camp on the sixth ,so i'm on here at one fifteen in the morning with a cup of hot choccie [very tasty]. I can't make up my mind if Kathleen ,is on about a machine [re dish washer] or a male member of the household being put out back in the cold and wet ,all i know is ,Fred is the only dishwasher in our household, missus say's ,the other sort keep breaking down .[sniff] At least i have my mate Madoc to keep my spirits up,his antics really keep me amused still can't see any tomato seedlings yet ,but there is time ,some of the herbs are now coming through so all is not lost It looks as though the home counties and the east of the country are getting the snow instead of us now ,so my sister will be cursing [hiya sis]you had better get the tractor out to feed your animals ,and go for your provisions, and don't forget the wellies ,those lincolnshire drifts get awfully deep.he he.[that will teach you do take the mickey out of us].Well i'm away now peeps, time to have a mooch round the board,cyl.Fred.ptfg.&a&g&s. |

Hello everybody, Nice to see a few more names drifting back 'home'. Yes, this is where you belong, the other threads are nothing, believe me, I've read them! Jude, when I get a scanner fixed up I'll be able to show you my cards. I made some lovely children's cards yesterday and today. My neighbour asked me to make one for her granddaughter. I used a pink card which I cut to the shape of a pinafore dress and used white card for T-shirt underneath. I used fancy edging scissors for the bottom of the dress and used 4d cut outs of a '1' with toys on it and the rest with odds and ends. When i am making cards all my important jobs get pushed into the background. I still have to frame 3 pieces of cross stitch, but am not in the mood at the moment. I am still coughing too much and am very tired. My husband is doing the shopping tomorrow with my granddaughter. We have had a lot of snow today - Winter in Spring they call it here. In the north of the Netherlands the buses couldn't run and the roads were impassable. Nothing new for Gt Britain, but for here it is very seldom as this country is so flat and we don't get any snowdrifts. Schools were closed too. My cupboards are beginning to look like Old Mother Hubbards. Before we had the snow Johan and I had planned to go to the wholesalers tomorrow, but that has been put off again. I have been ordering some card making material from the internet as I've not been able to get out. Madoc would love the snow Jude. Will close for now, Love, Sylvia xxx |

Hi Everyone, I'm late posting today, I dont know where the day has gone. (must have gone with Kathleen's memory, lol) It has been very cold here today and it was frosty this morning, We must be expecting frost again tonight because they were gritting the roads early evening. I am just trying to remember what I have done today, it has gone so quickly. First I did my banking and the birthday messages, then I took my granddaughter to work, came back and had some breakfast. Then I had a little look at some ancestors, after that I went and let the 2 golden retrievers out next door and I gave them both a cuddle before I left them again. Afterwards I took Gaynor to Asda and did an errand for Sam, came home then went and picked Sam up from work. Then one of my friends came and we did a little bit of painting and a lot of putting the world to rights. Jude, I think Madoc gets dirty on purpose so that he can have a hosedown and the warm towels afterwards. Elisabeth, You are a lucky one getting a brand new car, I haven't had a brand new one since I retired, it's such a lovely feeling having a brand new one. What sort have you got? Kathleen, I think you are right, it will do Susan all the good in the world to have a change of scenery, Today I decided to put those primulas I bought the other day into pots, I only did two and decided it was too cold, the others will have to wait. Fred, so it was you I heard creeping around in the night was it. These grandkids take over dont they? Sylvia, Your cards sound lovely, we really will have to see them. Your weather is much worse than ours here, I have got up to date with my washing, it's drying so nicely outside. well I will close now and go hunt for some more rellies. Love June xx |

Hi everyone Brenda -what are you like?? do rest or you'll be too tired to enjoy your hols!! Sylvia - sorry,do l keep on at you to show the cards. lwill be patient and wait now. They sound lovely and l have a better idea now of what you mean:o) Fred - what else did you have in your choccie drink???? Must be really frustrating not to be able to use the puter when you want, but then it does give you time to ovver fings - like ur garden!:o) Right are you all ready for the latest on MADOC: We heard him scratching the door at 8am this morning, hubby is usually out of bed by then. Anyway hubby let Madoc out the lounge to find he had YOU-KNOW-WHATTED all over the lounge floor, unfortunately when Madi does that he never stays in one bloomin place!!!! l decided to go back to sleep:o))) Hubby admitted it was probably his fault cause he did'nt let him out in the garden last thing - he won't forget in the future l bet!!!?? all sorted and smelling sweet again - lol Another little story (true as well): My sister mentioned yesterday that the day before as she walked into her kitchen her 3 cats were all standing there with their hackles up and staring at the cat flap - when my sister looked a beautiful ginger cat flew straight back out and that was that - she thought!! This morning a neighbour from the bottom of her garden called up and said she'd had a ginger cat in her kitchen all night - it was in an awful staight, very, very thin, ticks and fleas in abundance!! she'd rung round everywhere, noone would take him on aprt from a chap in mid wales. He said if she could get him to vet in town he would pick it up later - so off't she went to the vets and asked my sister to go as well.My sister knew now that this was the same cat from the day before. They de ticked and flead him and checked for micro chip - it came up that there was nothing in UK to match it and that it could be a forign number, so they checked and it came FROM the USA!!!! Well how about that. They contacted the owner, he had moved again (same town) and the cat had gone missing. It was last seen by them in January. He arrived at the vets so pleased to see the cat again and said his son is going to be gobsmacked when he gets in from school. They had bought the cat in USA,had him chipped etc and quarentined. What a nice ending for a change!!:o)))) Its still pretty cold here, Madoc is out for another walkies, this time with Vic and l'm going to get changed cause when he's back we're going shopping, then for a snack out, so no cooking this evening - yippeeeeeeee Elizabeth - great to see you the other day on here. Did your son and fiancee manage to get all their shopping home?? Hope your m.i.l is ok:o)0 June - great to see Gaynor back on the boards, seems ages since her puter was poorly? Anyway l'm off now:o) Before l go - we now have the Black Caps back on the birdtable and 2 Goldfinches, plus the Longtailed,Blue and Coal tits,3 Robins the other day all doing their mating dance, bless um.
