Evening all I HAVE BEEN THE BESTES WIFE - l have made 2 pans of veg soup, whilst l was doing that l cooked tonights dinner and put tomorrows dinner (ham) in the oven, we're having the ham with salad - BUT GUESS WHAT, my sister is coming for dinns tomorrow (after we've been to the garden centres) and she's having the exact same dinner tonight - l'll have to make it mashed pots instead of jacket!!!! Fred - l will try and put a piccie of Madoc on GC photo's or is there one there already?? - will also get one of the two together!! Played hide and seek earlier, had'nt intended to at the time, but his lord ship was down the garden eating the bread for birds - l kept calling and whistling, nuffin!!!!!! so in the end l did a mighty yell and ran under the stairs, he could'nt find me, he went upstairs in every room, back down back up, while he was up stairs this time l grabbed Vics coat and covered myself, he came belting down the stairs straight past me and then realised he could smell Vic - he went bollistic, knocked my glasses off me nose, jumped all over me, squeeling in my ears - gorden bennett, l think he was pleased to see me, even though he probably thought l was Vic. Seems abit calmer on the boards now, thank goodness!!:o) We are supposed to get snow on Monday, wounder if we will?? we love it, but we know it can be a pain in the u no what for cars and the elderly etc Kathleen - do hope your Susan is ok, bless her and the chemo does its job, life is so cruel. Thinking of you all, keep your chin up Kath:o)) Sylvia - do hope you soon feel better, but take it easy, as someone said have a few days indoors, you have always got loads of things to do. Elizabeth - hope your mum i l is ok, it must seem never ending to her with hospital appointments. l'm going to have to go now, l can smell the soup, l left it simmering!!!! l hope everyone is well, sorry if l did'nt mention you all. Just a quick visit before I climb the wooden hill, We have had a quiet day, mainly keeping warm away from the cold wind and some snow showers. We did go to the DIY shop on the way back from Mum’s, but didn’t buy anything. It was 10% off day, but there was nothing we needed! June, I hope you have a good sleep. You must get exhausted from keeping track of all your postings on the boards. I only seem to manage the odd one here and there, and even then forget what I have written. Jude, Your fun with Madoc sounds wonderful. You must be so happy having a lively companion. I loved your tale of Vic’s coat. Sylvia, I do hope you will soon feel a little better. As you say, a cold really has to take its course, with just a little help from some paracetamol or something. Fred, I am pleased your cat deterrent is working. I have several visiting on a regular basis. A large black cat comes regularly during the evening, walks in the gate, round the back of the house to see what’s on offer in the way of bird scraps, and walks back out round the other side. He switches on each security light as he goes. Probably thinks they are just there for his benefit! Kathleen. Let us hope the lump is nothing to worry about, and that Susan manages to find a wig to suit her. There are some really good ones on offer I think. Time for bed now. Can’t do late nights these days! Love to all, Elisabeth xx |

Hi everyone Its a lovely sunny morning here, its probably very cold, I haven't ventured out. Sorry I was down last night, sometimes it gets me down when people are so nasty on the boards. I should have known better than to appeal to everyone to calm down because all they do is turn on you and accuse you of being in the 'clique'. Jude, I hope you get sorted with a nice part time job but i agree you dont want stress, all stress does is make you grow old quicker! I have been laughing at Madoc and Fat cat becoming so friendly, you are so lucky to have 2 like that, mind I think its you that has made them like that, they obviously want to please you. Kathleen, I dont have as many friends here as I did in Cleveleys nut the friends I do have are good ones. My thoughts are with Susan, I hope the worst is behind her now. My friend next door says the chemo made her very emotional.she felt very insecure and needed reassuring that family cared. Sylvia, if that sore throat persists, you must see the doctor for some antibiotics, I thought I could cure mine myself but had to give in in the end and have antibiotics. Just take care of yourself. Elisabeth, You did well not to buy anything, sometimes we get lead astray with the 10% offers and buy things that we dont really need. As I well know! I think last night, I was so disappointed that some of us were trying to get the boards back friendly and others were out to destroy them. I should know better at my age, after all it takes allsorts. Brenda, just had to do a doubletake at your message, the first time I read that you had been talking to your babySITTER, then read again and it said baby sister. lol. I really must put my glasses on. Fred, Your birds are well looked after, I must get more nuts and a fat ball for mine. Think I will get some breakfast now, reading about Jude's soup has made me hungry. Take care everyone. Love June xx |

Hi all, Just to let you know that I had a good night's sleep last night. I actually went to bed at 11.00 pm instead of the usual 1 or 2 am. My throat feels heaps better. I think I'll wash my hair today as Annemie has promised to put some rollers in for me. She cannot blow dry and I haven't the energy myself to do it. I keep going with Paracetamol and think I can stop with the throat tablets. Enough about me. The weather looks dull at the moment and cold. I saw my first blue tit on our balcony this morning. We also have a nut/fat ball out and he/she has found it. I wanted to tell him/her that her nest is waiting on the other side of the balcony but thought it might frighten it off. Hadn't heard from my son since Xmas - typical of course. I sent him an e-mail and then 'phoned him. He also has a new computer. I don't know how he does it as he isn't working. Mind you he lives in a flat and never has the heating on. Well, it takes all sorts! I love talking to him. He is so knowledgeable. He still hasn't bought any new trousers or shoes. I suppose the money I gave him has gone on the computer. He must still be walking around in my jeans. What a boy! I have just started to cook an American ham ready for dinner today. I've left the potatoes for my husband to peal. I have sliced green beans in the freezer and have a pot of apple sauce. I have lots of jars and tins of fruit so will probably have fruit for sweet. I have been drinking so much tea with honey that I daren't check my blood for another week. I didn't see anything nasty on the Boards, mind you are they ever really friendly? I've had my share in the past and I'm glad I can take it. Poor Di couldn't. I used to think that it was 2 particular females, but I had a nasty thread from a man, somebody I had least expected it from. No, I don't go around slaundering their names around, it is not worth it. Well I haven't much news really, no pets like Jude's Madoc and Fat Cat, so will call it a day. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Hi everyone, It is a lovely sunny day here but it is also very cold. i only ventured out to put food out for the birds (they are gradually coming back after the visit from the hawk). I am keeping myself in for another day because I am sharing Sylvias cold and feel quite rough with it. The trouble is the cough wakes me at night. still, it will soon pass, at the sneezing stage today. I have read through all your threads since I last posted, can't believe how many there were. Jude, i hope you get the job, as you say less pressure and sounds right up your street. I had a chuckle at your game of hide and seek with Madoc, that is one spoiled dog!!! Elisabeth, i envy you having friends to drop in, because we moved around so much and somehow all the friends i had at work proved not to be real friends once I had left I don't have anyone to just drop in. My real friends are scattered around the country. Kathleen, I will be away when susan has her first chemo but i hope all goes well for her. i am sure that she will find a suitable wig to wear. I am equally sure it is allv ery distressing for both of you, so I am sending you a big hug!!!! June, it got really nasty last night on the boards didn't it? Although it was fun on the chat board. There seems to have been an influx of new people to the general board in the last 6 months who have convinced themselves that the older members have 'got it in' for them. Half of them don't read what is written, jump to conclusions and rush in feet first and cause trouble where there wasn't any. They give the impression of being very young and it feels like the school playground with the 'he says, she says' mentality. I think we 'older' ones should just ignore the threads that set out to antagonise, don't post on them and set up one of our own to knock the conflict ones off the board. If we don't give them the satisfaction of speaking to them maybe they will get tired and go away. they also don't read what they have written before they post but there is no telling them how they should behave, they are ready to blame everyone but themselves for any trouble. Sylvia I am pleased that you had a good break, and how nice of your Grandaughter to help with the shopping. I can empathise with how you feel about the cooking today. Brenda, Fred, i did read your posts but sorry can't rememebr what you said and must go now. have to offer support to my sister via e mail - her ten years younger husband (16 years married) has just left her, apparently he has been 'playing away' for three years. Pity he can't realise that his brain should be in his head not his trousers!!! Anybody like Helen Reddy? Tony has just started putting all our LPs on to CDs and I am listening to her now. Ann glos |

Hi everyone, I have put a message on General Topics warning that everyone should have a backup of their Family Tree. I know this isn't likely to happen to you lovely people but if you are involved in a dispute with someone and you both get kicked off by Genes, without any warning, you will lose your Family Tree and all your hard work. That would be heartbreaking and has already happened to someone. I am not taking sides here, I dont know the full story and whats more I dont want to know. I have put this message on to let you know that Genes are taking steps to rid this site of troublemakers. sorry, I'll go back in my corner now, lol June xx |

Evening - just on my way to bed and thought l'd take a peek on here, it took 5 mins to get here though!!!!! Bitter cold today, even colder at Chepstow market with the wind blowing from where ever!!!!! corrr blimey:o((( l have another dentist appointment tomorrow, but if its snows l'll cancel it! My sister said this evening that Madoc is one spoilt dog, he knows exactly how to get our attention and sometimes his own way, but we are firm as well (well l think l am - lol).He kept trying to get sister to take ball from him and throw it, she got fed up so he kept dropping it onto the sofa next to her, clever doggie!!!;O)) He had about three spots in the field where he has something really tasty to eat, so l try and call him by whistling or saying 'whatttts thisss maddi', if he ignores me l know he's found something horrible - so after the third session l pulled him away to see a dog biscuit he'd just dug up :o) he did'nt eat it, he did'nt get a chance!!! lol. l must check the other places to see if there are biccies there as well. Re the nastyness on topics, sometimes a put a message on saying 'well said' or simular then l think oh gawd perhaps l should'nt have said that. l get confused as to who's who and who's done this and who's done that. Then sometimes l think, why has so and so said that, cause l thought they were on the other side- lol lol.Fink your right Ann,its best not to reply to any of them ( l wonder if l can do that:o)))). Sylvia - what you mean you have'nt much news, you have loads of interesting things to tell us.You're always busy, you have a lovely grandaughter, you always tell us about your family and neighbours. Your Johan and how he helps you - my hubby often peels the spuds:o)) Anyway must go now, l want to do some word searches before l go to sleep. Sorry - l have'nt mentioned everyone. Take care all:o) Fred - l can't remember, but there might a piccie of Madoc on GC Photo, if not will put some on there:o) Nite nite all Jude sarf wales xx |

Hello everyone, no snow here yet but it has been bitterly cold and after a fairly bright morning and early afternoon we had some heavy showers. Seemed to get dark earlier because of the black clouds. No doubt all the puddles (we have a problem with drains here) will be frozen again in the morning. June, I do agree with you it is so depressing when these controversial threads spring up - it does feel very unpleasant. Best ignored though sometimes it difficult to judge which threads to read and which to ignore. Sylvia, pleased to hear your throat is feeling better and hope you are soon fully recovered. You write very interesting messages and always seem to fit so much into every day. I love to read about your family and neighbours. Elisabeth, the DIY stores discount days can often seem very tempting. These days I only venture into one if there is something I actually need to buy. Ann, is it next week you go away? I hope you enjoy your holiday, hopefully the weather will be better than here and maybe it will have improved by the time you come back. Fred, hope you and Liz are keeping well. I am thinking of putting a cat scarer in the garden - not sure that it will work though. Fortunately the cats we have coming round now all seem to be fairly peaceable creatures. A few years back we had a couple of really unpleasant ones - they would attack anything that moved. One large grey one in particular - he was most unpleasant and had a really evil look. Jude - well I'm not sure whether it's Madoc or you!! It really made me laugh reading about your game of hide-and-seek and Vic's coat. The picture it conjured up had me in stitches - and I thank you for that - I needed a laugh. Hope the job goes well. It took so long to get on here and I read some of the names in the earlier postings, June, Sylvia and Jude of course but what happened to Christine and we haven't seen George popping in for a while. Susan is not doing too badly now and Chris took her out for dinner tonight. Yesterday I took her shopping, and she enjoyed wandering around checking out some of the newer shops that have opened in our refurbished shopping centre. Will say goodnight now, sleep well God bless Love Kathleen |

Hi everyone, Its another lovely sunny morning again but I have just been out to put the rubbish out and its very cold. The FNW after my name, stands for Friends and Neighbours Worldwide, there is no aggro and no abusive language. Bill and I were talking yesterday morning and decided to show that we didn't go along with any of the above. I didn't do very much yesterday, I decided to stay in in the warm, then Gaynor and family dropped by in the afternoon, they had been to Knowsley Safari Park and taken some photos of the animals. They said the baboons were up to their old tricks, trying to pull the windscreen wipers off the car. The other animals, lions , tigers, elephants etc. were all enjoying the sunshine. Sylvia, I hope you are feeling a bit better today, I find the sleep I have before midnight does me far more good than that after 5 a.m. and yet if I go to bed too early, I cant sleep. I had to smile at your description of your son. typical man, clothes dont matter to them. Ann, You are right, it is best to ignore the controversial threads, why are people so aggresive and on the defensive these days? Sometimes though I dont read a thread, then days later, I read it and find its very interesting and not a controversial thread at all. Jude, I think its because Madoc is such a good boy that he gets spoilt, he certainly is a character, I think he copies you. Which are you dreading the most? The dentist or the snow? I know what you mean about adding to threads, sometimes you daren't open your mouth in case you get attacked. Kathleen, I keep missing interesting threads because I am going from the headings. Christine is over in this country at the moment. Today she is going with Lou and Cliff, Keith and Sandra to see Gaynor in Stoke Poges, That should be a good party, they all enjoy a good laugh. Christine is also visiting Denmark with her son later on her visit. Love to Susan. Brenda, I find I put paperwork to one side and then all of a sudden there seems to be a mountain of it and I have to tackle it. Enjoy your lunch with your friends. I hope your back/leg is improving. I had better go and sort Beckham out, its bin day and now that the first lorry comes and takes garden refuse/glass and paper, then another comes for normal rubbish, he has 2 lots to bark at, he thinks its great. But not for me listening to him! Love June xx |

Good morning campers, and how are we all this bright ,sunny ruddy cold morning.? Kathy[if it's not okay to call you that ,slap my wrist] it sounds as though the evil grey cat may be the ghost of my Iccy, she was'nt evil as such ,but was one to watch if you teased her because she had a looooong memory.I can recommend the electric cat scarer ,very effective ,and works on mains or battery. I was going to add about now that i was going to go out into the garden with a pick to clear out the birdbath so that the birds ,who have lined up can have a bath and get a drink,[they looked most disgruntled]when they suddenly flew off ,and now it's snowing hard.I have no doubt that my feathered friends will pay me back by crapping all over my good self ,or worse my car,ho hum, these things are sent to try us. For any of you going to work today ,if it's snowing as hard as it is here, take a couple of blankets with you ,cause if this keeps up ,you will be there for the night too.he he. Sylvia ,dont keep putting yourself down,i for one enjoy your chat and reports ,including the bit about your son ,brings back memories[where have i heard that said about me before] many years ago now i hasten to add. well folks ,i had better go and do some housework before the boss hit's me with her slipper, and it's my turn for the dinner too [he says in relief] weeell, she makes lovely jam ,and puddings, but ,cook a decent meal she cannot.cyal, when i will hopefully hear a bit more of my pal Madoc and the new oppo.Fred.ptfg.&a&g&s. |

Here I am again girls, and Fred, Ann, I am glad you are sympathsising (that doesn't look good but cannot be bothered to check, so there put up with it) and joining me in our battle of the common cold. No Ann, I know exactly how you feel. I am annoyed that I don't feel like doing things, just like you. I awoke at 5.00 am this morning with a wheezing chest, so I rang the doctor. My own doctor was not available so I had a new one. She has given me a puffer to blow into my lungs twice a day. I thought perhaps it was bronchitis - which I have had so many times, but it wasn't. I had to go to the hospital for X-rays today. First of all I thought I would cancel it, then as the morning wore on I felt a bit better, so thought, go. I had a hip X-ray and also the breast X-rays (anti cancer) ones. The only trouble was I had two young girls and they didn't have the proper equipment and I was about 3/4 hour. They were having to tear up pieces of cardboard and put down my underwear so that my arm wouldn't be on the X-ray. What a carry on. I didn't feel like going in the first place and after 3/4 hour was certainly ready to run. Anyway, they were nice friendly girls, trying to make the best of what they had. I did read the Boards and cannot believe how nasty they are. It doesn't get better. I think they should do away with all those fancy names - call a spade a spade, that's what I say! One doesn't know who these people are, hiding behind these names. We've had a lovely sunny day here today, albeit bitterly cold. I wrapped myself up warm. We had two blue tits today come to inspect the bird house on our balcony, one went into the bird house and the other into the flower pot my husband has fixed on the wall. I don't know what they have decided, or maybe they were looking for a furnished house! Who knows, maybe birds are also fussy like us folk. Well I must get some din dins now. See you tomorrow. Sorry I haven't mentioned all your names. June, Jude, Kathleen, Fred (the only male). Sylvia xxx |

Evening Ladies and Fred, and anyone else. I was sure I had posted a message earlier but I can't see one, sorry. I must have been having a senior moment, or a blonde one or something. Quiet day here apart from wind, light snow, blizzards, beautiful blue sky and all sometimes in the space of a very few minutes. I managed to dodge them all though. It was fine when I went into the town this morning, cursing because I had forgotten my gloves. When I unpacked my shopping bag with all the small items, there were the gloves hiding in the bottom. Another senior moment perhaps. I visited Mum this afternoon and said I would get away before the 'school run' started at 3.15 and before anymore snow came. As I closed the garage door and ran to the house another blizzard started. I watched a lovely programme on BBC2 earlier about the Flying Scotsman. It was marvellous to see the steam train. We sometimes get them on the East Coast Mainline, and they often stop for water here. Just realised I didn't make a note of anyone's postings, but hope that Sylvia and Ann are making a good recovery from the bugs they have. Also, that Kathleen is able to sleep a little better and Susan enjoyed her meal out and isn't in too much discomfort just now. Sleep well all. Elisabeth xx |
