Evening all:o) Well we definately had some snow, but its stopped a few hours ago - l do hope it starts again, l love it:o)) Elizabeth - you were lucky, you got home in time:o) Hope your mum.i.l is well? Hows your garden coming along - l've not done any gardening for ages - although l have just bought some daffs, crocus and another plant(bulb) but don't know what it is - so when we get some slightly warmer weather l'll pop them in the garden. Sylvia - l do hope you soon feel better, sorry you had to a rough time at the hospital:o( and hope the xrays are ok. June - not asked you in a while - how is your Beckham?? Kathleen - hope Susan enjoyed her meal out and hope you are resting. So pleased you enjoy the antics of Madoc. There are so many things he does in a day,but its difficult to explain them all. Some of his expressions as well. When he greets us, especially first thing in the morning, he is soooo pleased to see us,his whole body wiggles, his tail thrashes, his eyes sparkle and his ears and mouth give off that real smiley happy face. If l'm still in bed Vic will let him up stairs and he does all that wiggling and smiling as he jumps up on the bed and squeels as well:o))))))) ooooo l could eat im:o) Seems calm on the topics brd, lets hope it stays that way. l did say earlier on the Valley thread that l was staying, but l really don't know what to do. Its not that l don't like it here, its the time.Think what l'll probably do is not delete anything and let it run as Bill suggests and see how long l can last. Do you think l would need to speak to GC about that, incase they delete me anyway?? Off now to watch the Welsh version of Vets. Ann - hope you are feeling better as well:o) Nite nite Jude sarf wales xx

Hi everybody, How on earth can this thread get to page 7 overnight? I thought it had disappeared. Elisabeth, join the Senior Club, congratulations. We do things like that every day. How else are we to know we are Seniors? Jude, don't go. Why don't you spend a certain amount of time every day, or week, and then you have more time for other hobbies. Johan and I want to make a tour of northern England, Wales and Scotland this year and want to rent mobile homes or cottages for 3 nights at a time. Does anybody know addresses for me to write to? Mostly they want you to take a whole week, but then we get bored with a place. The weather here has been sunny with a slight shower of rain, and still bitterly cold. The weather outlook is warmer for the weekend though. Hi Ann, how are you? I am getting better every day. Today I did a lot more than yesterday. I began with making bread then cutting up vegetables for the freezer, then doing some washing - or at least the machine has done it for me. My neighbour Annemie came down for a natter. She has given me the number of her lottery ticket so that I can see on the television tonight whether she has won or not. Big secret, her husband doesn't know she has a ticket. He comes down and asks me if I have a ticket and I have to say no, but really I have a ticket too. If we win a large amount, then our partners will be informed! It gives us a laugh. My daughter is coming in tomorrow as she is going to the hairdresser and her daughter Linda (my granddaughter) is also coming, so I'll be happy. I've not seen the blue tits anymore, perhaps I'll have to reduce the rent! Well I'll sign off for now, have a nice evening, love, Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, still coughing but seem to have stopped sneezing, just can't breath so have a head full of cotton wool. have also pulled my stomach muscles with coughing. Just realised that I haven't been out since last Saturday, Tony has been doing the shopping for me. Pleased that you are on the mend sylvia, although sorry you were messed around with your X rays. Jude, as long as you pay the renewal fee GR wont remove you if you don't post. if you don't pay then they will. You will have to go on a time management course!!! learn to be firm, a time for everything. What isn't getting done (housework like a lot of us?) Elisabeth, you were really dodging the snow showers weren't you? we just had a very light dusting last night, the grass was still green. By the way they are off changing their names again on the board. has June not been on yet today? Hope she is OK she is usually on first thing. sorry, not a lot to write about, all i have done is sat and sniffed at the computer!!! take care Ann glos

Ok a quick update on that MADOC!!! lol, well its not a laughing matter really cause he rolled in some you know what, it was in his collar all down one side his neck - oooo l'll sort him. Hubby had just seen this rather large thing and had to jump over it, for a change Madoc was behind hubby and found the offensive stuff. All hubby had was a poo bag, so he took him down to the river and cleaned him as best he could. l then ran a bath as soon as l knew - phawwwww!!! :o(((( Anyway he smells lovely again now............little monkey! Also just had an interview date through for the charity shop job, the 2nd March - will let you know how it goes - oooops l might not be here!!! if l'm not here then l'll email June. l have just emailed GC to make sure they don't delete me. Pleased your feeling abit stronger Sylvia. l can ask around this area for you regarding holidaying - do you want B & B or?? Has anyone heard from Di, is she ok, and give her my love if you can:o) Bye for now:o) Jude sarf wales No snow this morning, but it was trying to about an hour ago:o))

Madoc in the clarts again Jude, you must be used to it by now surely?,he is keeping you fit ,and active anyway he he.Let me know when you are in the area Sylvia because i have the address of a lovely b&b just south of edinburgh,in the harbour. It's a lovely ,well run family concern, and nothing is too much trouble for the guests. It's a stones throw from the station ,£2 return to edinburgh, where you can get an all day ticket on the busses for a couple of pound and get on and off as often as you please,.we often spend a wekend there, but you can book one night only if you wish. The beuty of it is ,you can leave the car and save all the hassle of parking the car ,which you don't want in edinburgh , it's a nightmare. .Fred.ptfg.&a&g&s.

Hi everyone, This morning I wakened to a little snow on the ground, it hadn't covered the ground properly so it was soon melted when the sun came out. I have just looked to see if I had posted today, it seems such a long time since this mornong. I went to Gaynor's house early as we had to take some discs to the Computer shop where we have taken Gaynor's computer for repair. Then we went to the bank and back to my house for a cuppa, then I went to have my hair cut and then a friend of Sam's called and before we knew where we were it was teatime. Jude, Beckham is fine thanks, he has a favourite ball which he pushes at you until you give in and throw it for him. he loves it when Gaynor's Yorkie, Bonnie comes round, she doesn't play very much because she is 13/14 but they both love each other. He is getting better with Gaynor's 2 budgies, today he just sat looking at them instead of talking and growling at them. Sylvia, I cant remember the web address off hand but there is a place on the net that tells you of places to rent, I will try and find it for you. You could look on the Scottish tourist board and the Lake District National Park Tourist Board on the net too. Ann,Glos, thanks for your concern about me, Have you got antibiotics for your cough? My tummy muscles etc were aching when I had it and I had to have antibiotics to shake it off. Jude, what a terrible mess Madoc was in, its bad enough in summer but then you can just turn the hose on him. I would keep your membership up if you can and just be strict with yourself with posting but you know you can email me anytime. Good Luck with the interview. Fred, Are the seedlings showing their appreciation of the heater yet? Elisabeth, I see you are still busy with your relatives, this is what I find tiring, its all the toing anf froing. Kathleen, I hope you are taking care of yourself and that Susan isn't too unhappy with the chemo. I hope everyone else is fine too and keeping free of colds. Love June xx

Elisabeth Report 23 Feb 2005 11:52

Morning all, Nothing much to report this morning. I have been to the town, on some very snow-covered roads. I hate driving in snow so I left it until the school run people had gone, and hopefully cleared the roads a little. Our little road was very slippery, but it was ok once I got onto the bigger roads. It was obvious when I came home, the only caller I had had was the post lady. Two lines from her bicycle and a set of foot prints! I’ve put a thread on about checking the snow on the roof. It was amazing to see the difference in some as I came home. Ours is, or was, evenly covered but some in the street had melted with the heat from the house. Those people should certainly improve their insulation depth. (We increased ours some years ago now with the big rolls. ) I can’t remember what people have said apart from Jude and Madoc’s antics. What a joy having to bath such a smelly dog. My sister-in-law has spring spaniels and hoses them down outside before bathing them to get them smelling sweetly. It doesn’t last long though! Have a happy day. Elisabeth xx

Hello everybody, Well our weather seems to be much the same as yours, bitterly cold with snow now and again. Some places slippery. Jude, we are only interested in renting mobile homes or cottages. We used to do bed and breakfast, but with the uncertainty of where the loo is in the middle of the night, puts me off doing this now. Both Johan and I always have to get up one or two times during the night, and bed and breakfast don't always have a loo ensuite. With a caravan or cottage we can do what we like. We always go to bed very late. Hope you are feeling better now Ann. I am getting better every day, just my lungs not so good now. I have a 'puffer' to use twice a day. Fred, thanks for the info, but B&B is out for us now. We used to do it and found it very friendly, but we are now past that stage. In our own caravan or cottage we can do what we like. I will look on the internet. Tomorrow I have to have a perm in my hair, so Johan will take me as I don't really feel fit enough to go on my scooter. My daughter came round today but my granddaughter will come tomorrow. See you tomorrow Sylvia xxx

Elisabeth Report 23 Feb 2005 20:34

Evening all, I have been trying to find an item or article in one of the Family History magazines which I am convinced I saw recently. It was about the Band of Hope, which was a temperance society, probably attached to the Methodist Church. I have searched but I cannot find it. I even put a question on the Tips Board to see if anyone can remember it. No luck so far. I am wondering if I dream these things. It is a shame as I had promised to send a photocopy to an elderly gentleman who I talk to sometimes on the phone. This gentleman had put an old photograph in the Nostalgia section of a Lincolnshire local paper and I contacted him as I believe the child in the picture is my mother. It is dated 1910. Anyway, that is the reason I contact him sometimes and we chat and exchange photos of various places and people. I just feel a total idiot that I cannot find this article. We had quite a snowy day but it all but melted during the day. My husband has just logged onto the Met Office site and confirmed that there is more snow heading our way. At least I don't have to go out until the afternoon tomorrow, but I do need to visit Auntie, Mum and go to the bank. I hope all the poorly people are feeling better, especially Ann who must be preparing for her sunny holiday. (Can we all stowaway in your suitcase please!) Elisabeth xx

Hi everyone, I am late again,! We still haven't had snow thank goodness, I had to be out early to take Sam to work. Gaynor also came along because she had a doctors appointment, then we came back here for a cuppa. After that we went to Asda and then I dropped Gaynor back home as I was meeting a friend for lunch, My computer seemed very slow this morning so Gaynor left it defragging while we were out, now it has finished. Sylvia, I think you are very wise not going out on your scooter in this weather. Apart from the roads, I think you are likely to get cold when you have had your head warm under the driers and then to go out in the cold. Elizabeth, I vaguely remember the Band of Hope, I dont really know what it was but I remember hearing about it. I'm sorry I didn't see the article. Brenda, Hope to see you later. Love to all June xx

Hi everybody, Brrrh, brrh, brhh, yes, that's how cold it is. Snow, wind and ice. Apparently Sunday evening it is expected to freeze 7 degrees. My husband took me to my hairdresser and I had a perm - just three weeks away from our party, so has time to drop a bit. My hairdresser always comes to me for a blow dry, but a permanent I go to her. I don't like all the perm smells in my house. She is used to it. Some neighbours had a bit of a confrontation with another neighbour over using salt on the ice around the flats here. This young woman has a huge dog - don't know what type it is, must have been crossed with a horse by the look of it. She says we mustn't throw salt down as it gets into the paws of the dogs. We say then wash your dogs paws when you get home. She takes the dogs - she has another small one - over the main road and salt is thrown on that road by the council. This young woman isn't a very nice person and is always making trouble. We have a lot of older people here in this block of flats and sometimes on the gallery it can be very slippery. We cannot let old people fall because of her. Now, what else did I do today. Oh yes, I changed the beds, washed the bedding and even ironed it. Linda came around and did some extra odd jobs, such as cleaning on top of the cupboards in our bedroom and all places which I cannot reach. Nice feeling to know these jobs are getting done. I am not going out to the market tomorrow. Johan did some shopping for me today whilst I was having my hair done. How are you now ann? How are Beckham and Madoc enjoying the snow. Can you throw snowballs at them? I don't suppose Fat Cat will like the snow. Well, let's hope there will be more messages to read when next I look. Sylvia xxx

Evening all:o) Still no snow, well nothing other than a dusting on the ground. Some of the cars had abit more than that this morning, but it soon melted. Madoc is being so good,l'm wondering what l've got to come!!! lol Fortunatelty hubby hozed him down before letting him indoors!!! He gets hozed most days, even if its only his feet - then l give him a good rub down with warm towels waiting on the radiators:o) Lunch time walk l picked some blossom - tiny white flowers and some of what ever it is called with brown wintery leaves.l had a bouquet of flowers from last week which had pink roses and purple flowers and abit of green foliage - l split the bouquet into three vases, with blossom etc it looks lovely. The pink roses and white blossom are on the lounge window ledge looking out onto the back garden for Gaynor!! Fat cat is speming most of his time on my bed curled up in an old white blanket,he usually finds a dip by the pillow and curls up - love it when his nose is turned up and his feet crossed, you can see the pink bits. Did l mention to you that a neighbour had left a bird table out the front for the dustman- well we did get it, hubby waited till it got dark, then the next day l put a card in their door to say we had it.Thing is if l had'nt they would see it and that would be embarrasing. It needs small repair on one of the tree legs and a good clean other wise its great. Its quite small so will do for the smaller birds:o)) June - hope the budgies are in their cage. l often think about getting another dog,it would be good fun for Madoc. l love Bull terriers and saw a beautie the other day - the owner said she had got her from a charity called Bullies in need, there is a web site (same name) so will take a look. Then yesterday we saw a puppy - oooooooohhhh he was gorgeous. Sylvia - l would'nt have thought the salt would do any harm to the dogs, might be sore if they had cuts on their paws, but then salt if healing. Not long now before your celebrations and your party:o)) Reference the B & B, good thinking:o) l have hair appointment tomorrow lunch time,in preperation for the interview!! Hope everyone is well, sorry if l have forgotten anyone. l renewed this morning, how on earth could l not have you lot to chat too - thanks for your encourage for me to stay:o) Nite nite Jude sarf wales xx

Kathleen Report 25 Feb 2005 01:15

Hello everyone, we have snow - and rain - and snow - and wind and more snow now. Cars, houses, grass all white but the roads are more wet though it is beginning to settle even there. Jude, so pleased you will be staying with us. Have got my candle lit for Gaynor. So sad, she is such a nice person, great sense of humour and I am happy that I did get to meet her last year. Salt on the icy pathways is a necessity, especially for older people. Broken bones take longer to heal and are a lot more painful than a few minutes spent washing dogs paws. How selfish and inconsiderate some people can be. Not long to go now before your party Sylvia, make sure you stay well so that you can really enjoy yourself. June how is Gaynor? Am I right in thinking that she has to have an operation sometime soon? Brenda, hope your upset tum has settled down now and also that your leg is improving. Not too much has happened here, just still clearing out some of those things I no longer use. Taking up tiles from the kitchen floor in preparation for new floor covering to be laid next week. They were the stick on type and getting rid of all that stickiness is taking time. The fitters will be coming on Tuesday morning so it all has to be properly prepared before then. Susan has her body scan etc, tomorrow, think she will be pleased to get that over. On Tuesday she has an ECG and on Friday the first chemo session. At the moment she is doing really well and in good spirits. Time for me to go to bed, Chris has just come in for his meal break, he is working tonight and tomorrow night - 7pm until 7am. He doesn't always come home for his break but didn't fancy sandwiches and hadn't got anything to microwave at work. Fortunately the cargo area of the airport is only 5 minutes down the road so it's easy to get home and back in the time. Goodnight, hope you all sleep well God bless Love Kathleen

Afternoon, Just popping in for a moment before I go on my afternoon rounds. I've done all the shopping ready for the visit of son and fiance for the weekend. I am still getting used to what she likes to eat. There is a very good article in the Family Tree Magazine this month about the local area. (Its all gypsies and vagabonds but I don't think I am related to them.) It is always nice to see something about your own surrounds, and mentioning people or families that you know or know of by reputation. The snow has all gone now, but it has been sleeting or raining most of the morning. I bumped into an elderly gentleman I know in the town, and he insisted of having a long chat. even though I was getting wet. Hope everyone has a happy weekend and that all the coughs, colds and general aches and pains soon ease. Special, gentle hug, to Susan via Kathleen. Elisabeth x
