Elisabeth Report 3 Mar 2005 22:11

Evening all, I thought I should write a few lines before I go to bed. I don’t know where the time goes, but I seem to keep busy. Jude – Yes the young ones did get their shopping home and built the new tv cabinet that night, so their video etc is now neatly stored. We have promised to visit one of these weekends to check out all their work on the house. It is lovely to see them so excited about their renovations, and new furniture. I got the new car yesterday and it is lovely. It had done 95 miles by the time it arrived here, and has now done…..105! Such a long way I have been in 24 hours. The funny thing was, this afternoon I did my visit to Mum-in-law and then Auntie. When I left Auntie, she came out to have a look at the car, and I pressed the button to lower the window – and I didn’t know how to put it back up! On my old car I had winding windows, and the old BMW we had you pressed to lower and pressed again to put it up. I didn’t realise you pulled the button up to bring the window up on the new one so was driving around, with not only the driver’s window, but passenger window too, right down in this freezing weather! I expect everyone thought I was mad – but then I am! (Just remembered – it’s a Golf June!) I was tempted to drive straight to the local VW dealer and am so pleased I didn't, but came home instead and read the book properly. I suppose I have missed Brenda now – hope she has a nice holiday. Hope everyone else is ok – Sylvia, just make sure you look after yourself until you are fully recovered. Sleep well all. Elisabeth x

Brenda Report 4 Mar 2005 01:18

Bet you never thought I'd be on here today. well I got every thing packed and ready in time, but had that many phone calls to tell us to have a nice holiday that it was 10.30 before we got to bed.I have been tossing and turning since and did not want to disturb John so got up and came in here to tidy up a bit.I then thought I would check my emails and was glad I did as my cousin emailed me with an invite to her dads surprise 80 birthday. She needed some information on addresses for other members of the family ,so I have forwarded her email to my brother for him to help her. We have to be up at 3am so I don;t think I will be going back to bed even though I am very tired.I just hope I can sleep on the plane. See you all soon. Brenda

June Report 4 Mar 2005 07:52

Hi everyone, When I got up this morning, we had some much needed rain, but now the sun is out already, so it looks like we are going to have a nice day again. I feel so sorry for those having deep snow, we haven't had any settle on the ground since Christmas Day and that was less than an inch, Today we have to go back to the computer shop to have something fitted to do withe game they bought, when the computer was repaired, Jude. I bet those people were glad to see their cat back after going through all that to bring their cat over. It just shows that it is worth having them chipped. although at the time I had Beckham done, he squealed so much It upset me and I felt very cruel. Now I have had him longer, I realise he is very vocal and doesn't suffer in silence. Poor Madoc, he was scratching to get out, hope he didn't get told off. Elisabeth, Golf's are lovely cars aren't they, I would love a new car again, its lovely getting them from brand new, never mind all my working life, I had a new car every two years, so mustn't complain. I remember taking one of my cars in in for its first service and they lent me one for the day, I drove to the petrol station and didn't know how to open the petrol cap, after having all these men crawling all over it and they still couldn't do it, I drove back to the showroom and had to ask how to do it, there was a little lever under the driver's seat! Anyway enjoy your driving. I hope Brenda did get some sleep on the plane. Kathleen, I hope both you and Susan are feeling a bit better each day, take care of yourself. Sylvia, I hope you and Johan are feeling better, you must be fit for your party. Right I'm off to get dressed now. I have to take my granddaughter to work. Love June xx

syljo Report 4 Mar 2005 17:18

Hi everybody, What temperatures we are having here. It has been minus 20 degrees in some places. By us here it was minus 12 degrees. For the first time in my life I have put the radiators on in our bedroom. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd do that. The council is running out of salt here, but mind you it doesn't help anyway when the temperatures drop so low. We still have more snow to come they say. When is it going to end? I am still coughing a lot, and every day tell myself that maybe it's the last day of the coughing and carry on. I keep myself busy, like making bread again today and a big pan of tomato and vegetable soup, and some mini pancakes. Linda, my granddaughter brought along my grandson's working apron (he is learning to be a cook) as the strap was torn off. I washed it last night and this morning got the sewing machine out and machined the strap back on. Grandchildren keep me going! My neighbour (Annemie's husband) went to the market and bought a large net of oranges for making juice. My ex son in law 'phoned me to see if I wanted anything from the market, but Johan and Linda did shopping for me yesterday, and my neighbour fetched the oranges so it wasn't necessary. My hairdresser came and did my hair and bought two more of my cards - child's greeting card and a get well card. Janet my eldest daughter has been e-mailing me, and Linda, granddaughter joining in. What fun!

Hi everyone, It looks like another dry day today, I must go and get dressed in a minute because I have to take my granddaughter to work and then I have the man coming to look at my burglar alarm. Last night it went off twice when it wasn't even switched on. My neighbour rang me to see if I was alright, I didn't even know it was ringing, I couldn't hear it in the room I was in. Sylvia, At a time like this, when you are not well and the weather is bad, the computer is a life line. Fortuneately you have many hobbies which keep you going and a loving family too. I feel sorry for those that have never had children or who dont have hobbies. I use a scanner to scan old photos, there are some of my relatives that I have put on my family tree too, it just makes it more interesting when I add in the notes, little stories about them along with their photos. But the more recent photos, I have taken with my digital camera and transferred to my computer, some of those are the ones on the photos page. I have also got some photos on Webshots, I must put some more on there. I expect Brenda will be sunning herself now, she really does need this break. Ann (Glos) will be enjoying the sun too. Kathleen (and Susan) Elisabeth, Jude, Fred, Ann (Belfast), Lou, and everyone, I hope you have a good weekend. Love June xx

Hi all, When I woke up this morning I looked out and saw another few inches of snow had fallen in the night. The main road has been salted but all the small ones not and all around our flat is thick snow and ice. The Council are so short of grit and salt and won't let us have any. Any other year you just had to ask and you could get a big bag. I'm wondering who is to blame if one of us breaks a leg. I'm not going out to try either. I baked a batch of small cakes today and iced them with chocolate butter icing. I also made another couple of cards. My hairdresser had asked for a 'Get Well' card so I made this: I cut out a mug form in yellow card - double with the fold by the handle. I then decorated it with silver beading, and I had a teddy bear with his arm in sling sticker and put this on to pink card and cut out. I stuck the cards together and put a tea bag popping out of the top of the card, finishing it off with 'Get Well Soon'. We are supposed to be going to Eindhoven on Wednesday, but with this weather am not sure. I have heard from my daughter that they only have had a sprinkling of snow there though. I think Johan would prefer it if Janet came here for a couple of nights whilst Henk is away and not us go to her. We shall see. Have a nice evening, love, Sylvia xxx

Evening all:o)) June - before l forget,NOOOOOOoooo of course we did'nt tell Madoc off, oh bless him, he must have been bursting. He's been having natural bio yogurt the past few days - we always have it in the fridge for him cause its good anyway, but we sometime forget to give it to him and FAT CAT,they both love it. We started that with Lady, she had liver probs and had to have a special diet. Can't remember if l mentioned this before - you know l joined Webshots, well my puter man deleted it as he thought it was causing problems with my puter,he said sometimes free downloads have something running in the background that can cause agro - not sure how correct that is? can you let Peter know that one of these days l hope to send him some photo's:o) Hope you get your alarm system sorted. Our weather is still cold, but not quite as cold as earlier in the week. No more snow, abit of rain yesterday and today. Sylvia - the Get Well card sounds lovely. So now you know what we all look like.Did you see Madoc ?- l promised a photo for Fred, but l think Madoc is already on Photopage. Sounds like you would be better staying at home and getting your rellies to visit you?? :o) Yes - hope Brenda and Ann are relaxing now in the sun:o) Kathleen - hope you are well,do you still have a car and have you been to any meets lately?? Hope Susan is doing well, take care:o) George (is not a guy), thanks for update.Did Chrystal Palce win?? Me and Madoc have played hide and seek again today - he's getting smart now and sniffs my scent, then stands very very still, smelling and listening and pounces on me!!!! :o)) lol lol He and Fat Cat play games - the cat hides behind an armchair and keeps charging out leaping like cats do,charges around the room, then clouts the poor dog for getting excited and thinking 'this is it l can chase him now'. lol lol l still have'nt planted the bulbs l bought, they're in pots so will grow, but some needed to go in the ground and others into nice pots, never mind perhaps it will get abit warmer soon:o)? Thats it for now, take care everyone.Hello to all those that have'nt been on here for ages and ages:o) Jude sarf wales xx

Kathleen Report 5 Mar 2005 23:29

Hello everyone, Susan had her first chemo session yesterday, then went to collect her wig. It looks quite good, chestnut brown/auburn and similar style to her own hair, she has black hair (with a few grey bits now). They advised that when her hair starts to fall out she cuts it really short which is less messy and better than shaving. Unfortunately the treatment has made her very sick but she has tablets to help with this and is following the suggested diet. Also she has to watch her temperature, any rise above normal and we must take her straight to hospital A & E and get a blood count. They have warned any infection not immediately treated could be fatal. I had a lovely Mothers Day card this evening brought to me by my youngest son Terry, he and his wife make their cards. This is on white card and has a beautiful bouquet made with sequins and silk ribbon, he also brought me a box of special chocolates. As he had just finished work he wasn't able to stay for long, I don't see him very often so it was lovely to spend even a short time with him. We do chat on the phone - and believe me he can talk for England!! It was a lovely bright and sunny morning but very cold with a biting wind, changed to rain and hailstones later but no more snow. I went out this afternoon to do some work, a couple of hours walking round but I made sure I wore a hat, scarf and gloves. Very bracing in the cold wind but I do enjoy walking round, looking at peoples gardens and occasionally having a chat. This is a new area for me so I don't know many people yet. Previously I covered an area nearer to where I live and knew a lot of the people so would often be asked in to have a cup of tea. Sometimes because it was a person living alone and they loved to have company and a chat for a few minutes. There are some very lonely people around in the midst of all the families. June, I do still have a car - a bit of an old banger but it gets me around. Doesn't like the wet for some reason and screeches a bit until it gets warmed up, don't know why this is a fairly new thing. A new fan belt was fitted back in the summer so maybe the pulley needs some WD40. When its dry it's fine. I'd love to have a new car - Elisabeth's car sounds great. Maybe I should try the lottery a bit more often. Think I will go and make a cup of tea now, have a bit of a headache. I think I need new glasses. Sorry I haven't mentioned names but I do wish you all a peaceful night and a good day tomorrow. Just realised I am actually typing this before midnight!! God bless Love Kathleen

Morning all and Happy Mothering Sunday to all the Mums. It is a lovely bright morning with just a hint of frost left on the lawn now. We had some hailstorms yesterday but they didn’t last long. I am hoping that the forecast warmer weather will arrive and we can all get into the garden. Kathleen. I do hope Susan gets on well with the treatment and that the wig helps her. I am sure she will take all the advice she is given and will progress well. Your card sounds beautiful. I have just opened my card from my son – he isn’t home this weekend, but I will talk to him later. (I do talk to him every day, on the phone or email, so I am constantly in touch. There was a missed call on our phone when we were out last night so I rang him back to see if there was a problem. He had rung while he was in Tesco, asking advice on the ingredients for an apple crumble as he wanted to make one today! It is not the first time he has asked for advice when doing his shopping. At least he wants to cook!) George. Nice to see you there. I do hope the last part of your course goes well, and that you find a wonderful job at the end of it. Jude. I must take a look at the photos page and find your lovely animals. They give me a laugh everytime I read your postings. They must be such fun. Sylvia. All this baking – you make me feel so guilty but I know if I bake something, we will be eating it immediately and the waistline will increase more. My poor husband would be going to the gym twice a day, instead of the once a day at present. June. You were talking about scanners. They are such marvellous things. We have one of the combination things, so I find if I am posting anything important or official, I photocopy it and file it away. Also, things like articles from newspapers which are of interest to others. (Last week someone who had been a great friend of my brother-in-law had died, so I was able to send the write-up from the local paper, as an attachment to email.) All this technology is just amazing. I have to admit though, most of the time, whatever I do is more by luck than judgement!! I am still confused by this machine most of the time. Have a happy day everyone. Elisabeth xx

Hi all, Well I was up before 6 o'clock this morning as I couldn't sleep any more. I'm usually a good sleeper, so this is bad for me. My cold has now reached my ears and I can hear my heart thumping in my ears, and because my heart valve is not normal I listen more intently. How long will this cold last? When I am moaning I think of Gaynor, and tell myself not to whinge, but it is difficult. Well for us it is not Mothers Day here, I have to wait a while. Mind you I don't want any more special days this month. The weather is lovely and bright but still freezing. The snow is still thick on the ground. On the football field opposite us the children - or was it the parents? - have built two huge snowmen. Actually they have a competition here on who can build the best snowman. Lovely for the children to have decent snow at last.

Happy Mother's Day everyone and George, Its another lovely sunny morning here but it is still rather cold, because it is sunny, Beckham thinks the door should be open all the time so that he can come and go as he wishes. Sylvia, I like the sound o the card with a tea bag popping out and the teddy with his arm in a sling, you are very artistic. I really do think you should get some antibiotics to clear your cold, please consider it. Jude, I'll pass the message on to Peter, he's busy loading his photos at the moment, he took 500 while they were away. He has about 200 still to laod, so I must have seen 300! Touch wood, my alarm is behaving itself again it must have got its knickers in a twist! Beckham likes yoghurt too, he always licks the pot out. I'm sorry you had trouble with Webshots, its nice seeing everyone's photos. George, I always though it was you that rubbed it in with Keith, lol At least we didn't lose. Kathleen, I hope Susan gets over the sickness and I hope the diet works. It was nice of your son to pop in to see you and bring you the card and presents, I love the home made cards and the thought that goes into them. Elisabeth, I have emails too from my grandson asking how to cook things. He's coming home soon for a couple of days, I cant wait to see him. I dont think I use my scanner to its full potential but I'm glad I got it. Well I had better go and get dressed now. Love June xx

Morninggggggggggggggg Its a beautiful day here, the sun is shining, but it is still very cold.Poor hubby has gone to work. l will have a nice roast chicken for him when he gets home:o) Kathleen - oh l do hope Susan's treatment is'nt too horrible for her and that her wig is ok, she is so brave. Its one of the things l would dread,l would probably wear a hat, but then l hates hats - until we are in this situation we don't know what we will do,do we. Hugs to you all:o)) Elizabeth - we sure do have a great time with Madoc.Usually when we go to bed and read he comes up with us, he gets soooo excited jumps on the bed like a bull in a china shop, the cat goes flying off in the opposite direction......and Madoc then dives under the covers:o))) he starts off going in head first which is not too amusing for us,so l get him to turn round, he always, always has a groan,a squeel and a muffled bark, as if in protest, but he turns round anyway. When its time for lights out he's as happy as larry to go down.By now the cat has found a safe place, but he also goes down to the lounge.Madoc woke us again this morning about 7.30 so l went down and let him up with us....YEP AGAIN he goes mad, dives under the quilt, bum in our faces, groans and squeels when l ask him to turn round, this time he carried on moaning for quite a few mins!!!!! He's now lording it on the sofa on his blanket, which about to be pulled off for a wash and clean one put one. He loves reflections and will chase them everywhere, even up the lounge wall, so this time of year when the sun is giving all sorts of reflections out side he is like Beckham and would love the french doors (sounds posh) left open.(sorry Madi not on your nelly, its tooo cold!! lol ) Georger (is not a guy) Well done Chrystal Palce. Now keep an eye on EVERTON today l think, they did'nt play yesterday. What did you all think of Jordan (Katie Price) and the eurovision thingy - l was embarrassed by the whole thing, especially Katie.Takes all sorts l spose!!! lol OK l'm off now its getting cold up here and l need a cuppa. SYLVIA - June is right, you should go to the Doctors. Hi everyone - take care. Love Jude sarf wales xx

Hi all, Well I said to Johan that I wanted to go out of the house for a while so he went and started the car - battery flat, and what do you think, yes, it's snowing again. The last half metre is still lying outside. Anyway, the battery is now on charge, so tomorrow to hell with the housework, we are going to buy a new printer and, who knows, a scanner. Then you can see my cards and me. Have you seen our site at http://www.xs4all.nl/~humaan/rosman. There are one or two photos on there and also on my tree a couple of old photos. Morning everyone. I feel quite guilty keep writing this when the rest of you have snow, but we do have another lovely sunny morning again. Yesterday I got my washing dry outside, it smells so much nicer when it has been hung in the sun. Gaynor is coming down later, we have to send some information off to someone that is related to my Great Aunt. Jude, You certainly struck lucky when you got Madoc, he is such a character. I am wondering how Beckham is going to react when Nick somes home for a couple of days, he absolutely worships Nick and missed him terribly when he went away. Sylvia, I do hope your cough is getting better, it will probably do you good to get some fresh air, I hope the car starts alright. There some printer/scanners combined around, maybe you should consider one of those. I did get on your site but wasn't able to see any photos, I kept getting that silly page that says cannot be displayed, I will have another go in a minute. Kathleen, I hope you and Susan are as well as can be expected, you didn't come back later. As you have probably read I didn't manage to see any of Sylvia's photos, I clicked on the tree, as it said, but all it said was page cannot be displayed, see you are cleverer than me, you did get to the photos! I hope everyone else is alright, I will pop back later to see you. Love June xx
