Hi everybody, Zone Alarm, Norton Firewall - I'm going crazy because I have had to put these off to be able to get on to the computer. Now keep getting messages telling me my security is off - YES I KNOW ITS OFF. Went to the market today with Annemie and had coffee afterwards. Just arrived home when my hairdresser came. Then have been washing and chopping vegetables for the freezer which I bought on the market this morning. I have been doing some ironing but have not done the shirts. Tomorrow my daughter and her partner are coming and we are going to the hall where we are having our party next month. I want her to see about flower decorations etc. Not much more to say as I want to play around and see if I can sort this Firewall business out. See you tomorrow. Love, Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, Its nice and sunny here. but haven't time to do any washing. My grand daughter started painting one of my bedrooms on Monday Tues day she was doing something alse, Wednesday she came and nearly finished it. Thursday she was with her friend so today I thought thats enough, I will get up those ladders and finish it myself. Then of course I had to put the wardrobes and drawers back, I also wanted to put different curtains up so while I was at it I tidied the cupboard, and now I am shattered. Sorry I didn't get on yesterday, I was coming on and saw the message about Gaynor, I was so upset for her. I also had another worry yesterday, I felt I had had enough, so last night I had a glass of wine. Jude I had to laugh about Madoc, I know it wasn't funny at the time, but he is a character. Sylvia, I hope you have got your computer sorted. Kath, I hope things are alright with you and Susan. Brenda I think you should go back to the doctor and see what he thinks. Di, you always have so much on the go, I dont know how you cope. Well I think I will have to go to the shop now, I feel like Old Mother Hubbard when I look in my fridge. Even poor Beckham hasn't any food left either. See you tomorrow Love June xx

Hi there Di - no, no l did'nt paint them!!!! oh l wish l had. They have all come from America. They are beautiful though. l have copied one the - Chiefs head:o)) but its not anything like the original. Fred - yep we sure do - we had him in the back garden earlier and he was walking to heel like a gooden, soon as we get to the park he's off again,Then he got out of the park gate and frightened a ladies yorkie, she yanked it up by the lead and swung it up into her arms!!!!!!:o)))) lol - no sorry l should'nt laugh :o(((( Actually hubby was with me and l had a go at him, shouted at the dog of course. l never let the dog off lead by the gate, its too near the road, so told hubby off cause he should have put him on lead. It was obviously something like that that got him hit be a car 2 yrs ago. He completely ignored us shouting at him. My sister emailed me today and said "why can't you have him in the class with others" ???? "put a muzzle on him", but at present he would make sooooooo much noise and pull so much, l would'nt be able to hold him. We'll keep practising in the hope that the silly s-d grows up!!!!!!! lol - soon!! lcan't take in the situation with Gaynor, such a brave lady. Such an inspiration to others. So wish l had gone to the meeting last year, now l won't ever be able to meet her. Jude sarf wales xx

Evening all, Sorry I haven't added anything for more than a week, but I have been busy with Mum-in-law and her eye op. She is improving now, but is a little disorientated as her glasses obviously don't work anymore and her optician suggests 6 - 8 weeks before she has new ones. It was a little worrying when everyone else on the list was being sent home with an appointment for two weeks time, and we had to return first thing the next day. It was because she has no sight in the other eye, so they wanted to be sure everything was ok, but it was a little scary at first. It is a nightmare with a long list of drops at various times, some to be kept in the fridge, others not. Not easy when you can't see!! I did sleep round there at first, but am now home for some of the time. Nothing else to report - snowdrops out, some crocus, the winter jasmine is still flowering and there are huge buds on some daffodils. (No doubt we will get wind and rain and a blast of cold air to knock them all down.) At least it is a sign of spring coming, which is always a nice thought after the gloom of winter. Kathleen - still thinking of you and Susan. I hope she is continuing to improve. Love to all. Elisabeth xx

Hello Elizabeth - do hope your m.i.l is soon sorted and has her new glasses. We have some snowdrops, only 2 clumps though, have'nt planted anything else yet, l'm a good weather gardener and our soil is thick clay. Perhaps l would'nt mind quite so much if the soil was better!!! Been playing silly devils with Madoc. l hid behind a bedroom door, took him a few mins to find me, then l hid uner a duvet in spare room, took him abit longer, buuuut gawd blimey when he did, he went bulistic, squelling and screeching in my ears, grabbing my wrist, going round in circles - he was having a great time - so was l!!! lol Kathleen - hope Susan is ok? Sylvia - hope the pooter is sorted? Brenda - have you been to the doctors yet? Di - its nice to see you, hope your all better now? Yes this thread lovely! June - could your grand daughter pop over here and do some painting? Gaynor(June's daughter) hope you're ok? Ann (Glouc) haven't seen you recently, you ok? Fred & Liz - hope you're both well? And anyone else looking in, hope you're all ok Nite nite Jude sarf wales xx

Jude, Thanks for giving me a good laugh, when I came in the study to switch off the computer. (Just being nosey, to see if anyone else had been around!) Hope you don't use too many chemicals to clean the loo! We had a cat, when I was small, who would only drink the water in the fish tank - never anywhere else. Perhaps it liked the slightly fishy taste! Have a happy weekend with Madoc - he sounds such fun. Love, Elisabeth xx

You ain't seen nothin yet Jude, you wait till he starts digging your bulbs up,and digging holes in the lawn. The more i hear ,the more i think this ere madoc is a reincarnation of my sisters and i's cat Iccy, and if it is gawd help you lol. why worry about it ,at least you don't have any dull moments,do you? Our new garden is coming on a treat, a nice row of roses which isn't complete yet,i am trying to find two sets of special ones to finish the main feature off.the crocus are now starting to show and i managed to find some real bluebells from a local nursery. Now all that remains is to wait for Liz to get these flowers of her's to show themselves in the greenhouse and we are well away.Fred.ptfg&a&g&s.

Elizabeth and Fred - fortunately not then, but l do use a descaler and the usual cleaners!!..... what is he like??? We are getting him into the habit of going to his bed when we eat, most times all l have to do is lift my arm and point my finger - most times he goes straight to his bed, sometimes he does'nt!!!! lol He's quite an intelligent dog, knows so much but the tempations outside the house are just too much for him sometimes - l can still this poor woman and her yorkie, yorkie swinging in the air!!!!!!! We will win, we love him to bits and he loves us. l can do anything with him eg: look in his mouth, check ears, see to cuts etc, the other day l was squeezing his paw, looked like something was in it, he pushed and prodded my hand with his nose and l pushed and prodded back,no malice just a wag of his tail and a look that said "Oi that hurts"!!! lol Our garden needs tidying, l have some bits that need pulling and trimming and others that need moving and definately need some more plants ohhh and some sort of fencing to go along the back of the mound where my plants/shrubs are.Behind the mound is a diddy path with stepping stones. All my plants are either, purple, blue, white or pink. Hope everyone is well - take care:o) jude sarf wales xx

Bless him. l let him off as well and l intentionally went over to the area with some nasty smelly stuff that he ate the other day, as soon he got too close l shouted " Madi come" and he did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) l gave him a tit bit!!! Next test is for him to be as good on next walk and the same when other dogs apear - FINGERS CROSSED!! jude sarf wales

Here I am, and A HAPPY BUNNY TODAY, My daughter and her partner have just been around and we've been to see the hall where we'll have our party next month. I also showed Janet what I'm going to wear. She was impressed, so that's ok. Henk, Janet's partner, helped me solve the problem with the computer. I didn't know how to wipe off the Norton anti-virus programme and re-set it, but he did, and now no more problems. Oh, how frustrating computers can be. Janet's ex husband Jan and his new wife have invited us to dinner today, so am looking forward to that very much. No cooking for me today. The weather is real spring-like. I actually saw a magpipe in a nest! What a lovely little dog Madoc must be, and to give you so much pleasure. Have a nice evening, Sylvia xxx

Kathleen Report 5 Feb 2005 17:15

Hello everyone, I did write a message yesterday but must have done something wrong because it didn't work - must still be floating around in cyberspace. Having read a few of the earlier threads, so much sadness. First Gaynor, I did meet her last year at Guildford. She gave me a lift home, took me right to my door as it was late. I picked my car up from the station the next day. She was so full of life it is hard to take in, she is a very brave lady. Then Robert who has just lost his young son. So very sad. Susan has not been very well but is recovering slowly. No snowdrops in my garden, just the winter jasmine still flowering and quite a surprise one yellow rose which came into flower just over a week ago. Several squirrels play around, they are quite funny to watch. We have a heron comes to visit the apple tree (not in my garden but overhanging). He stays around for quite a while but we also have crows and they frighten off the smaller birds. It has been so dull and overcast for the past few days, now turning much colder as well. A little bit of sunshine would be most welcome. Have made a start on the spring cleaning, amazing how many cobwebs you can find once you start looking. Cleared out a few winter things that I haven't worn this year. I can be a bit of a hoarder, always thinking "I'll be looking for that if I get rid of it" Well, tough, it's all going to go now. My bedroom has fitted wardrobes - they are also going to go because they take up a lot of room and actual storage space is quite small. I am busy looking at alternatives so am watching some of these "makeover" programmes on TV to get some ideas. Have to say some of their ideas don't look so good but there are a few ideas to think about. I sat down to write this immediately after coming in from shopping - I was freezing and am still not warmed-up so think I will make some hot chocolate. Hope you are all having a good day. God bless Love Kathleen

Hi have been busy again today, I have now finished upstairs thank goodness. At lunch I felt tired so I sat for 5 minutes and was wakened 90 minutes later by Gaynor and family arriving for a cuppa. Kathleen, Its funny you should say you have lost a message, I am sure that I put one on earlier but I cant find it now. I hope Susan continues to improve, roll on summer that will make her feel better. Sylvia, glad you have got your computer sorted. Jude, Your tiles are beautiful, very unusual. Madoc is a very intelligent dog, you must be good too to train him as you do. Elisabeth, You must have your hands full with looking after you m i l , it must be so frustrating for her. I think that is the worst part of getting older, when you lose your independence. Sorry I have to sort out my dinner now, I wonder where my message went? Love June xx

I'm glad to hear that Susan is feeling a little better Kathleen,it's nice to get some good news on gr at the moment,it has'nt been a good fortnight. Keep at it Jude,it sounds as though you are getting somewhere with the mad lad ,andfrom the way you describe him ,there is'nt an ounce of malice there at all. we have the eldest son and Chris for dinner and tea tomorrow so it will be a lively day, chris will be straight to the spare bedroom where his play station is,and we won't see him until meal time. He wanted the p/s in the front room and was most put out when i told him his legs were a lot younger than mine and i was in no way putting the puter upstairs. must go now,it's time for the nightly stroll down the lane ,and no ,before anyone says anything ,i am NOT going down the pub,but hmmmmm ,there again--------.Fred.ptfg&a&g&s.

Hi all, Yes, it's Sunday. I didn't wake up until around 10.00 am. I also went to bed early at around 11.00 pm. I know why. Yesterday Johan and I went round to my ex son in law for dinner. We started off with drinks, then dinner - a 4 course meal with lots of wine, and to end it all an Irish coffee. Jan had made a salad of smoked chicken with orange, kiwi, different lettuces, red onion etc., followed by home made soup, (Jan makes this right from scratch), then we had smoked salmon with fried potatoes in garlic and french beans, then a lovely sweet, which I've forgotten what he called it, but it was like a bavarois with warm fruit sauce over. Jan loves cooking, and we love going to have a meal with him. Yesterday we took my daughter and her partner to see the hall where we're going to have our party. Janet will make a flower arrangement for the table where Johan and I will receive our guests. Gosh, it's only next month! I now have my outfit that I want to wear - all black! I've even bought a body stocking in black which goes nicely under my see-through top, I am going for a skirt instead of trousers which I usually wear. I have some rather nice knee-length black net stockings. The weather is lovely here today, but I'm not going out. I have ironed some shirts, but didn't feel like doing any more - tomorrow is another day. Tomorrow we have a diabetic control so must be careful and not eat too many sweet things today. Have a nice Sunday. How quickly this thread gets up to page 4 or 5. Love, Sylvia xxx

Elisabeth Report 7 Feb 2005 14:51

Good afternoon boys and girls, Everyone seems to be busy as the posts have been a little sparse just lately, though I am guilty of being absent myself. I find the biggest problem is getting the thread to load, then waiting for the latest item I go off to do something and completely forget what I was going to say! Perhaps it is because of advancing years. Everything is going reasonably well with Mum-in-law’s eye. She has been to have her hair done this morning, and feels better for that. I bought her some of the cheap reading glasses and she was able to do the crossword in the newspaper this morning. That has cheered her up, and convinces her she isn’t getting too forgetful. Brenda, I see you were watching The Royal last night – such a good programme, and just what good old cottage hospitals were like. When I was small, and always in some accident or other, I remember the WRVS had a shed outside casualty where they sold tea etc. I visited it so many times with cuts, bruises and bumps, and with Mum when she went to physio for her arthritis. (I am going back to the late 1940s there though!) Sylvia, all the lovely foods you mention are making me feel hungry. I did have a very nice ham sandwich at lunchtime but I am ready for a coffee and biscuits now. Fred and June, hope you are both well. I think you said you had rain June – we didn’t get any yesterday, though it was forecast. Kathleen, I hope Susan is making progress now and feeling a little better. I think of her often, and wonder how she is doing. Ann, are you ok? I don’t think I have seen you around since before you went to the spa. Perhaps you have decided to stay on for an extended break. Jude, hope you are still having fun with Madoc. He sounds wonderful and good company. I have never owned a dog, but have dog-sat for many for short stays and long. (I did have neighbours with 3 Labs, one small terrier, one Siamese and a parrot. That was really being neighbourly, when they went on holiday!) Anyone else, sorry the brain isn’t working too well today. Elisabeth xx
