I have just looked at the Livermore family tree names and guess what? No Albert Edward or Dorothy listed. Sorry.

How do I go about postin messages on BMD.I have looked and dont know where to post.

Hi Dionne, just wanted you to know that I've been fascinated by this thread, it sure beats Coronation Street (on the telly as I type!!!) It might not apply but have you considered using Bloemfontain as a starting point for your SA service search? The reason I ask is that my step ggrandfather served there and I know there was a massive Brit contingent. You never know? Anyway, please don't close the thread, as others have already said, there must be places still left to look.........?

What is a Postem?
A Postem is a short message that is attached to any entry in the FreeBMD database. The purpose of a Postem is to allow those searching the database to leave information about an entry, for example to leave additional details about the event. Postems are only for communication between those searching the database; in particular, no-one in the FreeBMD project will be reading the Postems so it is pointless putting comments or questions for the project in a Postem.

How do I leave a Postem?
Click on the Info button next to the entry and when the information is displayed click on the Add a postem link. This will take you to a page which will allow you to type in your Postem. Please make sure you have the Postem correct before you click on the Create button because once you have created the Postem it cannot be cancelled or changed.

What i mean by leaving a update message meaning u type out a full list of persons that u have found so far via certificate etc so that will help people knowing what u have found and what u have struggled with.

Hi Dionne, have you ever had a look at a website rootsweb.com? They have message boards and trees etc that you can search by surname or location etc. I have made a couple of useful contacts there - its free as well.

Worth having a look to see if there are any matches or perhaps adding your own message to the Livermore or Sloper boards

Myself and other members dont think that this Edwin is part of my fathers family tree.

I also have the two marriage certificates of Dorothea Livermore (my fathers mother) and her death certificate.
Plus the birth certificates of the two adopted girls(father Sloper)

I have the Army records of Edwin Senior(thankyou Ann) but they give little information.No wife or children listed and only states served in the Royal Army medical Corps and went to South Africa.No area.Without an area of the country we cant search any further.

I forgot to add that I dont have birth certificates for ....
Edwin Junior or Dorothea or their sister Edith Constance as it seems they were born in South Africa.
I have also not been able to find a death certificate for Edwin Senior or who he married if he ever did.

Because there is a strong South African link it looks like Edwin Junior and Dorothea were born there.Really dont know about the death of Edwin senior

There is something i thought of. Maybe the SA embassy can help you out here.... were they born British subjects or were they born as SA? if it's the latter then how did they manage to come back and settle? Surely they would have had to take British nationality? maybe we can get some milage out of this? i would have thought that British subjects born abroad would be registered somewhere on records held by Britian? and if they were SA born by nationality there would be citizenship records somewhere. Personally seaking my father is German and my Nan would not let him marry my mum until he change to British Nationality, it was 1968 and she was in WW2, she said there was no way she'd have her son in law fighting against the country he lived in !! (she was a touch paranoid!) But there is a record of that i'll give him a call...

Now something weird i didn't know.... which might hinder us, i have left my bit above so people can see what i was always told. Even back in the '60's things were different, my dad said he never had to take Nationality in the end, when it came to doing it the official said all he needed to do was sign a affadavit. It transpires he was able to automatically take the nationality of his father, who was Scottish/British in which case going further backwards means the Livermore children porbably were able to do the same?

Now if anyone here knows how to search for German rellies... gimme a shout lol

I too have been following your thread from the beginning.

I can't help thinking that Kew holds more answers for you.
I know Ann found the personal army records for you but I believe it's possible to find out where various regiments were at any one time.
I think Kew has WW1 and other records and Glasgow has WW2 information.

I've searched the whereabouts of the Royal Berkshire Regiment during WW1 for example and this information was at Kew.

Sorry if you've been down this route but I thought this might at least give you an area in South Africa where you could start.

Yes, it's possible from Army returns to find out where regiments were stationed, although no war diaries, which is perhaps what you're referring to, prior to WW1.

This would only place him in particular places - perhaps not necessarily where his children were born, and I understand birth info is available from SA Embassy.

I looked at Kew for any WW1 records for him, and they weren't there.

When was Dorothea and siblings born and when was Edwin Livermore senior born?

Have you got an Enid Kathleen Livermore in your tree?

Just searching through the times digital archive. Not sure if this has already been done.

Are there any records about the whereabouts of the Royal army Medical Corps prior to WW1.
I know you have searched for private records but as I know from personal research these are hit and miss and never the ones you need!!!
Despite having an army pension my father's records from WW1 don't survive. Lucky he kept various bits and pieces.
