Hello everyone.

I know it seems such a very long time since I have last been here. I wanted to update you on my father.

Unfortunately I have never been able to find out what happened to Edwin Livermore. I am hoping to resume my search again in the New Year.

In June of last year my father was diagnosed with Liver Cancer. As a family we all pulled together to support and Nurse him. It is with great sadness that I tell you he passed away in March of this year aged 68. Christmas will be very hard for us this year as if was my Dad's favourite time of time of the year.

I will hope to be up and running again in the early part of next year to continue my search for Edwin.

I just have to add that I am still *really* disturbed by all the info about living people in this thread, e.g. on pp. 11 and 12 -- including births of people who are now young children.

If anybody feels like finding their posts and deleting that info (it can easily be replaced by comments like "found a birth to the marriage of Person X"), since I'm sure Dionne has records of it now, I think that would be really wise.

A google search for the names of the young children given on page 12 finds this thread. That isn't quite fair (and isn't in keeping with the rules). Tracey? ;)

I'm reading through wondering what might be found now that couldn't be found earlier. No idea whether this might have been suggested -- death records to 2005 can now be searched at Ancestry by given name and exact date of birth, without a surname.

Can anyone summarize what it is that is still being sought now?

There are so many more records easily accessible on line now than there were in 2007 or even later. For instance, the births of the 4 Sloper-Livermore children can be seen at a glance in a two-second search of the index at Ancestry, now.

Is Dionne still looking for any of those siblings? Or is it info about earlier generations of Slopers/Livermores, at this point?


Anyhow, a nice clear summary of the remaining questions/searches would be helpful!

I googled Pietermaritzburg and Livermore and this came up

There are a number of Natal deceased estate files, ranging from 1852 to 1928, which are not indexed in the NAAIRS index, presumably because they are still held in the Master's Office, Pietermaritzburg.

Natal estate files up to 1974 have all been transferred to the Pietermaritzburg Archives, but these estate files had the original wills bound in with them and have, therefore, been retained at the Master's Office since all original wills continue to be held there, copies only being sent to the archives.

Jenny Duckworth has made a list of these and very kindly provided it here for the use of everyone.
Unfortunately all we have are the names and the file references - we do not have any information on when any of these files were filed.

Wow ! This has made me think I may one day find who I am looking for.

I am now going to post all my info and try to find my husbands fathers family, with a name like Clark its not easy and with little infomation and time it makes it harder. Although i have tried a few times, i get bogged down and confused with all the infomation but this gives me hope X I wanted to do the family tree for my husbands 60th but that did not happen so perhaps he will get it for his 61st. Well done all of you who helped you kind people.

Wow have just spent the last 3 hours reading Dionne's story I thought that my mum's birth mum was bad enough but compared to this she was an absolute angel even having four kids to four different ppl and putting the two younger up for adoption. I searched for 4 years for mum's real family but compared to Dionnes search it was a breeze.I hope and pray that Edwin reveals himself in order that her father can put everything to bed.
