On the subject of squeaky beans.....they squeak when you chew them

.......and they go cold so quickly on your plate

On the Pope.......why cant he stay at a travel lodge like the rest of us! Or better still stay in Italy and pay for us to go see him....it would be cheaper ;)

Stab vests.........Im gonna need one of those when I hand out a couple of results this week

Pancakes? I lurvvve pancakes. My OH makes super pancakes....Glad you reminded me about them Robert - may put in an order for tomorrow!

The Pope? Know exactly what you mean Fans.....even RC friends are not happy about it. Bit of a no win situation though I guess......folk want him to get about a bit but it costs! The security involved in protecting him must be a mega part of the total outlay. Our Trace does not come cheap y'know!

I'm a practising (yeah not perfect yet, still practising) Anglican so can understand to a degree how much his visit must mean to some but..........! Pope John Paul had more charisma than this one in my 'umble opinion.

Footballers? Paid far, far too much but where do we lay the blame??

HM? I have the utmost admiration for her, Prince Philip and Princess Anne. The rest I am not too keen on but I am a royalist at heart and don't begrudge a penny of whatever it costs me from the taxes to keep a royal family.

I have .........ahem.....[coughs discreetly behind hand.]....actually met and spoken with HM. I was invited to a luncheon at BP - to do with the charity work I've been involved with for many years. Okay.....it's all very what some may consider OTT, but I'll you something........it was an experience that will live with me for ever and one that money couldn't possibly buy. It's something you feel deep within yourself and I still get a 'tingle' whenever I think about it.........

Right.....have the grandkids all day .... cor, they can't 'alf eat! What to do this afternoon? er.........whatever we do it will involve money some way......duh.

Fans

I did notice - that it was only you - thats why I specifically mentioned Halos - seeing as you were the only one who gained one

I must say I loved the thought of freezing all those cup cakes -

Early last year I bought a case of large cup cakes at Makros in Norfolk - -to take when when visiting my son for my last couple of days - mixed choc - lemon - rasp and strawberry - all wrapped individually

When we had them - they were without doubt the best ever cup cakes I have ever tasted - the topping bit - was incredible - for a week after returning here - I was craving them - really craving

If I can get back Xmas - I am bringing two large boxes home with me -

Renes

Oh So Sorry Fansa but I dont have raspberries - but also forget to say I have 2 Nispero trees as well

Ginny - removal orders - I found mine at the defunct familyhistoryonline.net - transcription of the basic details. Then I got a photocopy from the Wiltshire Records Office.

I think familyhistoryonline.net sold its stuff to FMP. A real loss. It was the collaborative effort of family history societies, which put up their transcriptions, and for something like 8p you could view a result from a search.

I didn't bother copying a lot of stuff, my Cornwall Bond ancestors going back to the 1500s ... or I did, then used it to print work on the back of and recycled it ... because I figured it would just always be there. Unfortunately, I don't think all of the records are available at the Cornwall OPC site, good as it is, so I'm kinda screwed and would have to do it all over again somehow. But I know I'm related to 007 -- or at least I'm truly part of the family he only claimed to be part of! -- so ... there. ;)

For the removal order, though, it was just serendipity. I put the names into the search engine at that site, and there it was. It wasn't until ages afterward that I found the parents' 1781 marriage at FreeREG, another bit of serendipity.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 1 Sep 2010 19:24

Moving items around regularly in retail establishments is done for a very good reason (For the retailer that is).

If a customer knows exactly where to look for the item they have come in to buy they make straight for where they believe it to be. Customers rarely notice anything else that they pass on the way. By moving the products location the retailer ensures that the customer notices at least one other item that is available which is now in the original items place. As the customer then searches for whatever it was that they came in for they then see numerous other items which they may previously have passed without even noticing them.

If the customer came in for a specific item then in most cases they will continue searching for that item until they find it. By the time they do they will have seen many other items and may well have been tempted to buy some of them as well.

Result, possibly an aggravated customer but usually, more money in the till which is what the retailer really wants.

Dea

Dea Report 1 Sep 2010 19:33

Yes Jonesey - that's what they do !!!

P.S. I AM an aggravated customer !!!!!!!!
