Anyways, if I’m not around for a week don’t send the undertakers....

I will no doubt log on while over there...if anyone is going near the UN, I'll be staying almost next door so come around for a cuppa

SERIOUS NOW............

What exactly is a 'removal' order??????

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 30 Aug 2010 19:18

Dea

it's still there .....................

"food service will not resume until at least 13th September"

We will probably leave the cabin on the 12th September, get back to Vancouver on the 13th .............. so you might not get food until the 14th!

The weather is forecast to be cooler and damper, so the wildfire situation is easing ... although the major fires will not be completely controlled or out until winter comes with cold temperatures and snow.

But don't worry ...... we'll be out like a shot if there seems to be any danger. We're keeping a close eye on it.

As it is ....... there is one major highway runs north to south in that part of the province. Almost all of the big fires have been to the west of that highway, and we are on the east of it. There's probably 100 km between us and the nearest one.

The worry would be a thunder storm with dry lightening (ie, no rain), sparking a fire near us. That risk lessens as the cooler temperatures and longer nights come in.

Gins

I love Geneva! Lucky you!!

Removal order ............. for an ancestor???

If someone was a pauper or had no money and were living in a village that was not their native one, then the Parish would issue a Removal Order for them to be sent back to the Parish in which they were born.

One reason why some of our ancestors say they were born where they were not born ........ if you understand me.

Thanks M for that referral

yep ........... I have seen those postings, just hadn't taken in the name

So that is how GR presents them

I agree, very confusing. So much so that I don't actually read them, just scroll down to the next posting.

Removal orders

It is also why some children were baptised twice at different villages - poor relief was only given to people "of this parish "

I think they have changed it now and you do need a passport on all domestic flights.

You dont need one if you drive there Sylv although I think you should lol

ja...x

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 30 Aug 2010 19:50

we just need picture ID on domestic flights in Canada ................ so a driver's license is sufficient

as I don't drive, I don't have a driver's license

so I do use my passport as ID

but I could buy a non-driver's license that would be sufficient .................. cost about $80 (or around £40).
