I did read that wimpy do offer a quorn burger so you could go.

They do seem very expensive though compared to what I remember from my childhood e.g wimpy and chips and knickerbocker glory was 5s. I will have to do a comparison on that to todays money lol

ja...x

Jubbleys Trace could be frozen too

Jonesey Report 31 Aug 2010 18:43

Wimpy and chips for 5/-, frozen Jubbly's!! Your age is showing Jax (lol).

So is mine. I used to love Wimpy burgers with their fresh chopped onions on and their toasted buns. Best ever but not the same today.

The only fast food burgers that got close were Wendy's in the US in the 1980's. Fresh cooked with fresh salad and catsup.

Both now rubbish thanks to competition from that blasted Ronald clown.

Hi all

Lost internet connection last night so good job that Robert had agreed to provide breakfast for you all

Now I know why the hospitals here used to have Cream of Wheat on their breakfast menus in the '60s and '70s!

It's like November today .......... about 12C, and pouring with rain

real PNE weather :)))

BUT I have finally made an appointment to get my hair cut .... only about 2 months later than I should have gone.

I have a slight resemblance to the Wild Woman of Borneo!

Wimpy and chips was 2s 6d so was a knickerbocker glory

I was very young I only remember it because my mum sent me into town to buy a cheesgrater for 14s but........I stole it and that is what I spent the money on, plus myself and friend went to the pictures.

Mum still has the cheesegrater and I recently told her what I did 40 years ago lol

Now we know why Jax left the UK, to escape the long arm of the law obviously.

Harvey's makes a hamburger
a bee-yoo-tiful thing.

I tend to agree. Sylvia? Unfortunately they switched from nice broken browned premise-made chips to frozen crap things a few years ago.

Sylvia, do you have Arby's-s, and have you ever eaten there? "Roast beef" sandwiches. The most appalling pressed-bits stuff sliced thin you've ever had.

Remember chicken roll? I was once starving in downtown Toronto, maybe 20 years ago. I decided to hit Fran's, a long-standing local tradition diner-type place, and have what I had when my mum took us out for lunch: a hot chicken sandwich, gravy on everything. It finally came. The "chicken" was slices of chicken roll. I returned it to the kitchen. Starving though I was, they were not going to palm that off on me and make me pay for it.

Ginny,

To broaden your horizons take a look at this article. Most amusing especially when you see who had the casting vote to decide the case. The follow up comments may also amuse you.

Hi

Janey

I've never eaten at Harvey's or Arby's .... think I'm glad I haven't from what you say!

I don't actually like any bought hamburgers, from any place. We once tried Wendy's when they first opened in Vancouver, must be something like 30 years ago.

............... tasteless square burger, tasted like cardboard!

we used to go to Macdonald's for Sunday lunch, often taking one of J's friends with us. Everyone else would have hamburgers ..... I'd have the fish burger.

I make a really mean succulent burger, lovely and juicy and tasty!
