did get out to Debenhams for some bargains, got some nice things for my son and for o.h. who is very hard to buy for clotheswise. Also found a nice little watch for me, which my son 'owed' me from my birthday as I hadn't been able to find one I like, got 20% off so he was happy to pay for it.

Good on ya Deanna.Nothing wrong with your post at all.

Do you find you forget about a letter? My dad spent hours trying to write out the alphabet and never had the right number of letters in it.It did get him writing with his left hand though.

He will be doing his Christmas cards later. That'll 'ave 'im!

Sadly,not one of Nature's carers.

Can't do "there, there" but more into the 'That's a challenge, how are we going to deal with it?' mode.

I'm sure,if he had time,he could become very depressed. The trick is to keep him challenged and busy so that he has no time to mope.

We must, all on this thread,be aware of how easy it is to dwell on our misfortunes. Can you imagine what fun he would be to live with then.

Oh but you do care Sharron, otherwise you wouldn't bother. I am more like you, do feel for people and with OH and family give sympathy to a point. But I too am more inclined to be practical. I am sure your dad would not have got on so well if you had gone down the 'there there' route.

Hi Jude, nice to see you posting again.

Sharron, you are doing a brilliant job with your Dad, and he would be worried if you changed your ways eh? Would wonder what was going on if you went soft on him! Keep up the good work.

love to all

Dear Deanna, I have to say I am thrilled - and amazed - at how far you've come in a relatively short time. Give yourself a pat on the back (on second thought make it a virtual one) - determination wins . . .
what a joyous Christmas this will be for your family - to have your presence and sense of humour . . . .
be good to yourself,
lots of love,
Mary

Through looking at Fiona Phillips column in the Daily Mirror today I have found out that the Lancet have carried out some investigation into the incidence of child abuse, including psychological abuse.

It is expensive to read the Lancet online so I must find a kind doctor somewhere or see if they keep it in the library but the Lancet has a whole series of articles they are currently running on the subject.

Let us hope that the medical profession is finally realizing that psychological abuse is as cruel and destructive as any other kind and that future generations will have somebody to fight their corner against the cruelty that some on here have experienced.

Hello Bernie

Last November, but he's suffered since a teenager. His psychiotrist sorts his tablets out, his doctor usually refers him back to her and his psychologist is helping to get himself out of the downer when they occur, which is most of the time. He's not been on a high for along long time:o((

Brrrr.....there is still frost here, blooming cold!!!
