Carole Report 3 Oct 2008 08:50

Morning all
I was woken about 15mins ago with a phone call from a man my oh is friendly with. This man phoned to let us know his wife had a severe stroke last week, and is in a hospital a good hour away. Pam cannot talk and looks to be similar to my dad when he had his stroke five years ago. Poor man was close to tears. It's awful Pam must only be in her fifties. Quite a shock

Elaine I know you will be in bits this morning. Deep breaths and try to stay calm. Your oh is going to be in good hands. Hope that soon he is treated and able to get on with his life. xxx

Ann you are back ~~~~~xx Oh and a change of car coming! Took mine to be fixed last week cost a fortune. Still will need two new tyres soon. More expense! Hope you had a relaxing time on your hols. Fancy coming back to this cold! xxx

Gail I wonder if I should try to scan that stuff and copy it onto here for anyone else who could use it?
Not sure what the copy right is on it. I'll check first. (goes away/ comes back)
It says this page may be photo copied for instructional use only. So I think I'll scan it and send to anyone who wants it by pm.

Kathy how are you? xx

Liz you have had a hard time. Give yourself permission to feel sad and space to recover. xx

Elaine, have I missed you today??
Well they will send him home today, wont they?
The first time they did one on Allan they kept him in over night. It was lovely for him as it gave him a good rest.
Your poor man has had a bad time of it since he went in for that op. hasn't he?
I hope today sorts him out and gives him a good start to his life again. I know what men are like when they get ill... they think they have done something wrong and should be doing it better!!
All you can do Elaine is love him and let his bruised ego heal itself. Bless him.

Joyce, your son must be fine .... or you would know about it by now I would think.
What was it we all said when they were little.... " he'll be home when he is hungry"...
Well think of him like that, he will be home when he needs you love. X

Ann, Carole, Gail, Gill, Carolina... where you been girl?... Mary, Liz, Kathy.. and anyone else I have not mentioned, hope you are all having a reasonable time of it just now.
I had a lovely PM from Joyce P this morning. She comes on and checks up on us every once in a while. She is not too brilliant... she will kill me for saying so... but she did not say NOT TO.
We all get down don't we, so a few hugs and good wishes for JP would not go amiss.

It is my husbands birthday TOMORROW.. not Sunday. you would think I would know that wouldn't you?? ;-0(
Anyway, his main present arrived by courier this morning at 7. 25.... and he answered the door!! It was so obvious what it was that he had to have it today.
I wish you all could see my husbands enjoyment.
I and my son, are SO LOUD in our excitement... whooping and hugging and oohing and aahing... and thank you becomes part of the ALL DAY SPEECH...
Allan on the other hand is so private, his enjoyment is clear on his face, but he is overwhelmed and can barely speak..... But. We know just how excited he is over it.

He is getting better although not well yet. He is asleep as we speak, and that is not really Allan. He has an appointment with the surgeon on Monday. I'm worried abit about the speed. At the same time, I wanted him to be seen as quickly as possible.
I'm okay just now, and I wish you all were okay too. Still, we can hold each other up better when we are not all well together.
Is that taking a positive stance too literally??;-0)
Anyway, I am off to answer my mail now.
Yet again tony has hogged my PC and I have had to wait. As i said before, I lik ehim here. He feels comfortable and happy.
*home is where the heart is* I suppose.
lots of love to all,
Deanna XXX

Hi Betty , not seen you for a while.
Are you that cold? I'm fine in bed.. normally.
POSH AND BECKS wear gloves and hats to bed???
I don't believe that.. sorry. They must have enough money to heat their house... we can. It is difficult, but we do it.

Liz, thanks for the birthday wishes for Allan. He has had a nice morning so far. Tony brought him down his usual bunch of presents.... even a lovely piece of Irish steak!
Lisa left him his presents the other day as she is busy today with a birthday party for her friend's 2 year old, and visitors, and a special night out tonight for he and her OH.
So, all in all Allan has been quite spoiled today.
Elaine, don't forget to let us know how your husband got on.
Better go and spend some time with my husband... well it is his birthday. ;-0) Bless him.
Hope you all have a lovely day today. Cold and rain forecast everywhere for us all.
We don't usually see much of each other on a Saturday, but I will be back later to see.
love to all,

Morning all.
I've had a few good hours the past couple of days, clearing one side of my little 'office/sunroom' . Becoming more ruthless with what is kept vs tossed.
Then there are the other hours, when life overwhelms and I slept one day the whole time the kids were in school, didn't even make supper.
One extreme to the other in a matter of 4 days.
I am NOT looking forward to going to work, been enjoying the lack of that routine LOL.
Sending hugs to those who need them,
MAry

Hi All
Happy birthday to your Alan Deanna, hope he is still enjoying his day.

Quite sunny here at the moment but cold too. didn't envy the crowds walking in to Gloucester to watch the rugby, bet it is cold out there. but they will feel warm as they are all fanatics. The place was heaving with red and white striped shirts/sweatshirts this morning!

Bought a Wii this morning, had to buy the console as we want eventually to get the Wii Fit. Tony is installing it downstairs at the moment. however it has gone very quiet so i am wondering if all is going well, maybe I had better pop down to see!!!

Anyway no meal to get tonight as we had fish and chips and a bottle of chardonnay in Wetherspoons.

hope the cold is not getting to you and that you are not in too much pain or stress.

Morning all, that's if you remember me. I have been quiet because I have been going through a rough patch and been down. Also had an X-ray and a bone scan and a CT scan to come all of which really makes me tired with the effort of getting there. I'm fed up as well with the morphine patches, every time I take one off there is a bright red itchy rash under the medicated part. I'm ringing the doctor this morning to ask about it, don't want that pain back though so I don't know what she will suggest.
Hope you are all coping and hope you have a good day.
Love and hugs to all.

Hi Caz, good to see you on here. Maybe they can give you something to alleviate the itch. Are you allergic to ordinary plasters? perhaps it is pulling the skin when you take it off that causes it. Hope you can solve it anyway. have you finished all the scans etc now?

Love
Ann x

YorkshireCaz Report 6 Oct 2008 08:55

HI Ann, I have one CT scan to go yet. I am allergic to ordinary plasters but for some reason there is nothing under the sticky surround, it's just under the medicated pad. I still have a perfect red rectangle where last Tuesdays patch was, very itchy and flaky now, also itching under the one I have on, due to be replaced tommorrow. Trouble is I am running out of places to put them lol. I can't use my right arm because of the Lymphodema.
