Hi there wavey, I usually try to keep my brain busy, doing family tree, puzzles, walks around the garden, bird watching.

Motivation is difficult at times, sometimes even getting out of bed is a challenge. It is best to set small goals, to start with.

Just an example:

Today walk for 10 minutes.

Tomorrow walk for 15 minutes.

This method works for me. If have trouble then cut the 15 minutes down to 7 or 8.

Do not set your goals too high, small steps at a time.

Hope you can understand this.

Gail

Hi Waveyone, I have the same problem some days. I've learned to set myself a goal of 15 minutes, then allow myself a break. Some days when I want to watch TV because I really can't be bothered, I do "commercial cleaning" - getting out of the chair when the commercials (adverts) are on.
if I do nothing else, I make my bed and keep my sink clean. It makes me feel better to see a made bed when I enter my bedroom after the day. And if the kitchen sink is clean it makes me want to keep the area around it clean.
If you're sitting anyway, use the 15 minutes to sort papers on the table in the lounge.
I bought a quart jug with lid, which I fill with water daily and drink through the straw when I'm "hungry". granted I make lots of trips to the toilet in the night, but it reduces my urge to snack on something inappropriate. I do the same thing at work, the environment is very dry and I go through at least one jug a shift, often two.
Hope this is some help,
Hugs
Mary

Sue, please continue to just pop in and let us know you are OK and we will be here when you want to talk.

Deanna, missing your long posts but good to see you.
Anyone heard from Joyce lately?

YCaz, Oh your poor feet and toes, so sorry you are suffering yet more pain and I do hope the hospital can sort it our for you.

Sharon, glad the bruises etc are healing. bet your daughter was pleased you started her castle. and it sounds as if you enjoyed making it.

That reminds me when I wanted something relaxing to do when my kids were young I used to colour in their colouring books.

Gail, so sorry to hear about your poor cat, so much a part of the family aren't they?

Wavy-one. I guess it doesn't hurt to relax and do nothing for a while, although I usually have to read, even if I am not motivated to do housework etc. Are you on medication for depression or anything because you do sound depressed. If not maybe you should see your GP. But little steps at a time is good advice.

Anyone I missed, hope you are all OK.

Hi all, just to say hello to you all and hope things will get better for everyone! I am still trying to get rid of some of my papers and things so trying not to spend so much time on here lol Wish I could just chuck the bag of newspapers without flicking through them but can't make myself do it! Still one bag gone today and one yesterday so better than none.

Dad is going home today for a couple of hours, so don't have to take Mum to see him! My friend is having her endoscopy (sp) tomorrow, still having two injections a day to stop her being sick. No pain, but
very tired and weak with it all.

I'm not too bad, still having little panic attacks, for no reason, as normal.

Gail hope things soon look up for you xx

Y Caz poor you, take care of them feet xx

Janet thinking of you xx

Irene are you still there ? xx

Betty you have been quiet are you ok ? xx

Kathy same, you're are quiet xx

Deanna nice to have you back xx

Joyce still poorly? Miss your tales of dog walks and
humans !! xx

Carolina, where do I start with you? Hope you get some answers soon, before you worry yourself to death! xx

Eileen how are you ? xx

Liz you are doing really well. Do you need some bags? A little at a time is better than lots, and then recovering it all. If your local paper is anything like ours there is nothing of interest in it anyway. Do you also have old sheets, towels and clothes? Maybe a plumber or decorator could use them, if you would rather they are used.

Sharon I also fell. I was trying to get up a tree root. I got hold of the trunk, gave it a good push and pull a few times, untill I went flying over a wall as it broke off. Have a very sore leg and black bruises. Only daughter saw me so not too embaresed! xx

good morning everyone.

hope you are all well, I am doing fine now.

I have heard from Joyce P. She is okay, and she will be back.... just make sure we all let her get the 3000th posting or she will *blame me*....

Going to get dressed now, see you all later. It is a beautiful day today and I had considered going shopping with my lads, but when I saw the state of my son this morning... I decided that he could do without me. Hauling a wheel chair in and out of the car takes time and energy he could do with saving, bless him.
He looked exhausted and he has slept a lot in the past two days.... unusual for him. Phoned last night to say good night... a daily ritual in our family.... and his OH answered.... he was in bed, 8.20, ASLEEP. So we did not disturb him.
anyway... here I go.. the mouth opens and I can't stop it!! ;-0)
Do any of you *dictate* to yourselves while you type, as I do?

Off now... be back though... don't go hiding from me again! ;-0)

Evening all our lovelies. Carole I hope your dad had a lovely couple of hours at home, would be great for everyone to have him there.

Hi Deanna great to see you back. York Caz, hope you and your poor feet are feeling better.

Our lovely Liz ~~~~~~~~~ hi hun.
Ann in glos G'Day to ya.
Carolina hope you are going OK
Rach and Sue how ya going today
Irene, where are yoooooou.
Elain Gill Kerry Wavy hope all is well.

My lovely wonderful dad, 80 this year, has shingles really bad, in his eyes even, and all over his head. He is in so much pain, I wish I could help him and take it away.

I am starting to perk up a bit, it is very slow at the moment and have learnt not to push it too hard and take things steady.

Quite often you can look back or a bad situation and think that it really wasn't as bad as you first thought. As it goes further back in the past the problem becomes less important.

At times problems seem insurmountable, if you can manage to back away from them and give yourself a bit of space, they are then easier to handle.

Sometimes doing something nice for yourself, say just having a bubble bath, can do wonders for how you feel.

I know I am going to loose my lovely cat Tonto,. If he had not refused to take his tablet, OH would not have taken him to the vet (big trip), and I would not have known he was so ill. At least now I can make the most of the time we have left with him and make sure he is comfortable. And yes I will crack up when he is gone, I will also have no regrets as to how well he was treated all his life, like a little prince.

Enough lecture for today.

Bye and ((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) to everyone

Well Dad has been home and tried getting in and out of bed, using a turner. On and off the comode and into his chair. Mum managed well, so was told Dad can go home Thursday next week. She said he looked like he had gone through a hedge backwards. He had had his hair washed, but they don't do it like her! No one spits on it to wet it down!!!
He looked thin but Mum will fatten him up when he gets home.

Hi everyone

Kathy has been a busy girl this week that is why I have not been on .
As I said in an earlier post I have been painting the hall .Took me 9 hrs to do the ceiling and walls . Just about killed me Not so good at going up and down ladders these days .Many times wished my old dad was still here as that was his trade .Bet he was up there shaking his head at my poor effort !!
Major tragedy today I have broken a nail while I was scraping paint off the carpet ( yes I should have put down dust sheets ! )
Had to face the dreaded B&Q yesterday and I had promised myself I would never go back on a wednesday as the shop is heaving with pensioners .They get discount on wednesday.
Don't get me wrong I have nothing against pensioners I will be one myself in a few years it's just they seem to clog up all the aisles .I think it's a social gathering .The car park is even worse .I watched a female Mr Magoo trying to reverse her car out of a space where you could have parked a double decker bus .Only took her about 5 minutes with her engine screaming and her gear box ready to explode . I got my last car badly damaged at that store on a wednesday !!!
Glad to hear some of you are feeling better .Good on you Liz getting on with the clear out can you come and sort my rubbish out ?
Our gang gets bigger which is great but I forget everyone's names . Just know that I am thinking about you all .
Wavey I hope you are having a better day .

love
