Yes because you wouldn't buy a frock without trying it on first!

If I hadn't had sex before marriage I'd have been a 37 year old virgin!! LOL!! I do agree tho that its got out of hand these days and women have lost respect for themselves in some cases and give it away to the first man to buy them a drink!! xx

someone agrees with me - that's new. I also think illegitimacy is wrong and a lot of people don't agree with me. I just think it's a sign of loose morals...*waits for lots of people to disagree*

Should illegitimate children feel ashamed of their birth circumstances or just the parents?

Luciacw

Luciacw Report 15 Feb 2006 23:55

1. decreases risk of STDs 2. you won't accidently end up with a baby

Rachel Report 15 Feb 2006 23:56

No, I have quite strong beliefes on the subject but I still reconise that others don't feel the same way. I have friends and relatives who have/ are 'illigitamate' children but I care about them just the same. I tend to read the bible if I feel the need and it has influenced some of my beleifes but others are upbrining.

Luciacw Report 15 Feb 2006 23:57

er Wendy, I don't know - you can't exactly blame the children! I've come across lots of illegitimate children in my tree and I don't feel at all ashamed you know if you think of the times. I remember on WDYTYA someone's ancestor whoever she was was denied poor law because she had had an illegitimate child. That was sad to hear about.

One only has to look at the heart rending stories and messages on this site by and about adoptees - Many of which were brought about by the 'shame ' of illigitimacy. Can that be right?

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 15 Feb 2006 23:58

Lucia that is so bigoted a statement that's scary..... would you think that illegitmacy (sp??) was wrong if your parents hadn't married? its hardly the childs fault that their parents got carried away! Should all unmarried mothers have abortions?

Luciacw

Luciacw Report 15 Feb 2006 23:58

Jill, PMSL! I'm an agnostic btw I just think some of the values in the bible are good. :-)

oh Diana please dont get her started on her debate on abortions for goodness sake!!!!!!!

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 16 Feb 2006 00:00

So what you are saying is if it hadn't been for a child born out of wedlock you wouldn't be here? Shouldn't you be thanking them rather than slaughtering them?

Luciacw

Luciacw Report 16 Feb 2006 00:01

Diana, I didn't think of it that way. I'm not saying I would treat someone with contempt if they were illegitimate or had had an illegitimate child. I just don't think it's right. That's just my view. Unless in exceptional circumstances like rape. But if it happens it happens - we should just try and avoid it. I don't believe in abortion. And I'm slaughtering them! You have to be sympathetic
