These things only really become a problem when you become faced with them.
I worked night shift in a 24 hour garage so anyone with a crash helmet, balaclava, hoodie etc was given short shrift as you can't take the risk.

Burka..........tricky one as you could be accused of breaking race relations laws by refusing them access while on the other hand you could be reprimanded for ignoring company policy which requires you to be aware of who you allow in the shop.

I can assure you that shoplifters come in all shapes and sizes !

Feel torn on this tbh.

I don't like seeing women wearing the burka...on so many levels BUT it's a slippery slope...once you ban that...who knows what other limitations could come after?

I'm all for the small state ... I totally understand the integration and security issues..but..can't decide whether or not they're worth the risk of increasing infringements once that decision is set as a precidence.

Tricky one x

i hear ya muff, and can see where your coming from.but i hate unfairness in any shape and form.i believe its good to treat everyone the same in our country ,but when our countrys at risk at the moment safety does come first .in saying that just because 2 guys go around shooting folks does,nt mean to say guns should be banned .

All I know is I worked on a reception desk. if somebody approached me with a crash helmet on I would stand back and ask them to remove it, if not I would not talk to them till they did, likewise a burka why not what is the difference?

okay no need to ban the Burkas but each company (as they are allowed to do now) ban the fullhelmet, hoodie and all tings that cover the full face etc from their premises.

Sorry I know this may be their religion but that is in the country of birth. They are now in country of choice ......and please don't give me the crap some where born here..... it is still the country of choice and that country isn't Islamic ..If they wanted to be Islamic why not stay where they are? ....Don't ask another country and faith to give you shelter and then expect them to change their laws to suit you.

Ban the Burka no but allow every business to refuse it's entry the same way as they can cycling helmets and full facial masks.

I just don’t see how anyplace can pass a law “Ban the Burqa”, this is surely a phrase coined by the Press. Talk about discriminatory!!

If anything, it should be “Ban the Face Covering” which would then apply to anyone, and encompass religious beliefs, culture, sex, nationality, personal choice, motoring laws, and my auntie Doris’s best hat for Sunday Mass.

Uzzi the girl on tv two minutes ago was born here, many Muslims are...this IS the country of their birth. Just as it is mine.

I might choose to be a Catholic...this isn't a 'Catholic' country
I might choose to convert to Judaism..this isn't a 'Jewish' country

what has that to do with where I 'should' live..If I decide to be a Catholic must i go to Italy? Should I head for Jerusalem if I follow Judaism? If I am an aetheist must I go live with Eldrick....

we either have religious freedom or we don't... applying to us all , if the day comes when a citizen of this country has to leave it to follow their religion of choice ( or the right to believe in NO religion) , i will be first out of it!

We are sometimes surprised to discover that followers of other faiths (or none) can be as civilised & trustworthy as ourselves, if not more so.

I'm assuming you're being ironic Dermot ...

If not, is that because the people who are civilised and trustworthy are so because they are decent people? What does it have to do with their faith?

I had to wear one for the 3 years I lived in Saudi Arabia.!!!!...well actually it wasn't a Burqa, because foreign women didn't have to cover their faces, so I wore the Abbaya which is just the cape/cloak, and not the whole head attachment thingy with mesh look-out. Thank goodness.

It does have advantages, believe it or not!
ie those days when you can't decide what to wear? You can just stick any old thing on and then throw the abbaya over the top and off you trot down to the shops, nobody being any the wiser that you've got yer jammies on underneath!!
Having a bad hair day? Just throw the head scarf on, who's going to see your hair??!!
Can't decide what colour scheme to wear today? No matter, the Abbaya comes in any shade you like - black, black or....hmmmm....let's see, umm black.

Men make their wives wear them so that oher men wont look an them in ant sexual way ... so i say Ban them .. its nothing more than abuse .. also if someone was mugged abused , by someone in a Burka how would they hold an identity parade ?
