Another bad night for mum, no sleep and lots of pain, her medication is being reviewed ( again ) by the doctors today, I know it is all trial and error, but as every day goes by she is getting weaker bless her.
I know you are all praying for her, so I thank you, but please continue

Ann, I recently saw my friend through this same scenario, trial and error, but she was able to go home with better pain relief and lots of loving care from family and the Marie Curie/Macmillan nurses. She had her 59th birthday with her family round her altho sadly lost her battle a little while after.

Also my Dad was at a hospice for a couple of weeks, respite care and a little treatment and pain monitoring, which gave him a few more weeks including Christmas and his 44th Wedding anniversary to share with Mum, so I hope the staff at the hospice can help your dear Mum to get the pain relief she needs and the rest too, to give her some more time with you all. It is very hard to watch our loved ones suffer when we can't help at all, so I wish you all strength to cope with supporting your dear Mum while you say all you want to tell her.
Will be thinking of you, and your Mum.

Thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts.

The power of prayer certainly works.

After having a morphine drip on for 12 hours there was little if no improvement, but what a difference 24 hours makes, last night she was sat up ( no rocking in pain ) had eaten her tea and asked my why I hadnt taken our puppy in to see her. I left with a list of items she wants me to take today ( including her cigarettes) she said she will get dressed today and take a little walk.
At last she is pain free and comfortable.

Fantastic, thanks to all of you.
Ann

I hope your Mum continues in the same way for a while more, many people show a bravery that we wouldn't expect at times like this and you must be very proud of her.
Wishing you all strength and courage..

I went to see mum last night and she was almost pain free, and had eaten her tea, and was delighted to see me and our little puppy Lucy, I put Lucy on the bed and she promptly gave mum a bed bath ( licking her ) mum was delighted and said to me I am so glad you brought her, I was worried she might forget me.
She had managed to write three thank you letters, which is brilliant as it means her concentration is coming back.

This morning the ward sister tells me she has had some toast and horlicks and is once again pain free, although she did waken at 03.30am for some paracetamol, she still has the morphine drip attached, it appears to be doing the trick for her, but please can we continue with the prayers.
The lady oposite her is going home today, she is 91 and looking forward to being in her own bed mum says.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers

Ann
I have lost 3 members of my family to various forms of cancer in the last 5 years, including my father.
and now my beautiful 19 year old niece has been diagnosed with the worst form of skin cancer, she doesnt even sunbathe!

So I do understand what you are going through,

So I am sending you my love and a big hug, hope you can both get through this as well as possible.

You will be in my thoughts, at this difficult time.

take care
