Thanks for your attempts on the McSorley's for me, i'm following your tips at the moment.

I've another sticking point you may be able to help me with.

My wife's grandad Matthew Flannery born AMJ 1891 in Wigan married a Lily Taylor born either JFM or AMJ 1896 in Wigan and they were married JFM 1930 in Wigan.

I,ve tried to find them on the 1891 and 1901 census but with no joy,
I was wandering if your records are better than mine and you could have a look for them for me.

The John Flannery you found I think he was married to a Mary Cunliffe in Wigan in 1889. I've found the 1871 for John and know is father and mother came from Ireland, so now the hard work starts, but i can't find the 1871 for Mary Cunliffe.

can I trouble you for this record plus the 1881's for both of them

re James Witten and William Frederick Witten.
What you said about the 1841 census makes sense, William could have been lodging there and the child could even have been her grandson.
I don't suppose you have access to births in London before the 1840's as I cannot find a record of birth for either of them on familysearch.

Thanks Michelle that info got me right back to the 1790's .

could i trouble you for a try on a George Bowler born around 1858 in I think Poplar Bow but i'm not to sure on that.

I have him as a lodger living in Barrow in Furness in 1881 and then in 1891 in Wigan married to a girl called Emily with a Daughter Ada born in Barrow.

The rest of his life was spent in Wigan and i've got that covered pretty well but could you see if you can trace him back through the 1871 and 1861 and maybe find his birthplace.

I am trying to find the parentsof Jane Arnett nee Lovett. She was born 1873 and married a John Arnett in St peters church Athlone in 1895.
Her parents were Thomas Lovett and Anne Conlon, sorry I do not have any date of biths for both of them.
I believe they were in Athlone in 1873 when Jane was born. But I cannot find them anywhere.

I wonder if you can help me with one of my hubbie's relatives - this information [from the 1851 census] came from a distant cousin but I dont have any means of confirming it :

I assumed that maybe Francis was Lucy's maiden name seeing as the 3 oldest children had it as a middle name. I couldn't find a marriage for a Joseph to Lucy Francis - but I did find a marriage for him to a Lucy France in 1845 [i don't know if Francis was correct or just mistranscribed !]- if that was right then either Lucy was previously married or she was unmarried when she had the children.

I found 2 births and a marriage on www.lanc-opc.org.uk for :
Edward France married Lucy Snape in 1834 at Blackburn
Edward France b1834, child of Edward France & Lucy
Susanna France b1838- child of Lucy France

|I know that there is also a son called Henry Richardson [son of Joseph & Lucy] who was born in 1854 and married Sophia Jane Field in 1784

Could you possibly check the census returns from 1841 for any information please :)
