Not entirely sure re death cert however this is what''s normally on them.Also you would be able to get it as death certs began in 1837 and you use the vol number page number as you do on other records.

The death certificate shows where and when the deceased died, name and surname, sex, age (or d.o.b.), occupation (or last occupation if retired) and address, and cause of death, along with the signature, description and address of the person giving information about the death, along with when it was registered and the name of the registrar.

Might be worth taking the risk and sending for the cert to see if it was your James.

Hope that helps.I can't say for certain the death is your James you will need to obtain the cert to see that.Area fits and i couldn't see him on the 1841.

You've helped me in the past and hoped you might be able to help again.

I was wondering if you could look on the 1891 and 1901 census for SARAH HORROBIN (sometimes spelt with 1 R). Born 1835/1836 Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire. She was married to WILLIAM but he died in 1888 and they had 5 children together. Should still be living in the Derbyshire area but might have strayed over into Cheshire as was living on the border. Any info would be great.

Was just wondering why there were 3 indepent people on that 1841 census for William Whitten, they don't seem to have any connection, Harriet Martin 40, my William and then a boy of 5, any ideas?

I will have a look later and see...it maybe that William was lodging at the house this would make sense if his father was dead.The 5 year old could be a nephew of the lady of the house.The 1841 is a tricky 1 as relationships are not shown.

This maybe 2 households put together?The census image does look like they are seperate households.The confusion is that Sarah Horobin is listed as Mother and a widow and not as Head.I will write all ocupations down and i expect you will know if their is a connection to the other family although to me they do look separate on the image.

Guess you drew a blank with my last request so I got some more for you :D

Looking for a lady called Edith Mortimer. Her marriage cert and entry in 1911 census give birth as 1896 and 1911 census (in Exmouth) says she was born in Witheridge Devon. Unfortunately, she's in service here and not with family.

I know from her marriage cert (to Ernest Wilfred Davey) that her father was called William Mortimer and was a Farmer.

However, I can't find a birth record OR a 1901 census that matches!

There are two Edith Mortimores born in Devon around that time, one is Edith C. M. Mortimore and her father is Harry, can't see the other one in census:

Next one:

This one might be tough, Thomas Walter Pollard born 1894, father Henry Pollard, a groom (deceased by 1918). I don't know where he was born BUT, in 1918 he was "Private, London Regiment", could be from London? He married in Plymouth, though.

Thanks for finding Sarah on 1891 census. They might be the same family as I know I'm related to the Higginbottoms on that side but didn't think it was that generation. Also I don't know Sarah's maiden name yet. As for her death I did find her gravestone when looking round a graveyard for another family member (seems there are a few of them buried all in one little village graveyard in Derbyshire). Sarah died 2 May 1906, aged 71. She is buried with her husband William and her daughter Martha Elizabeth who never married (she was born 1876c in Taxall, Cheshire). It's the next village along but is over the border in Cheshire. She might be there if you can't find her in Derbyshire.

Had a little dig myself now and William Mortimer married Annie Greenslade in S. Molton 1895. Prior to that, Annie Dart married Richard Greenslade 1883 in S. Molton. Gives me lots to work with!

How i found it....????Ooooh should i let me secrets away!!lol!!

I entered her 1st name and left surname blank on the 1901 census search and place year of birth and place of birth in the boxes and William father name down and ran a search and found the 1 i found for you was the top match up and surname looked kind of similar so checked the image.Now you know my secret.....keep it quiet!

Hmmm, the fact that he's a horse keeper links with groom occupation on marriage cert. Looked them up on 1911 and Ellen is a widow by then so that ties in too

On Thomas' marriage cert the witnesses are Mary Elizabeth Cooper (wife's relative) and Ida Maude Willcocks, although this was in Plymouth, some way from Hertfordshire!

Hadn't been expecting a link in Herts but the other things match, I had been looking for people around London. If I could find Thomas' military record, would it say he was born in Herts? That would confirm it totally.

The Leamington birthplace Thomas in Watford is the closest 1 i can see.Watford is very near to London...funnily i used to live there and my son was born there!Parts of the outskirts of Watford are actually under London.I wonder if he was stationed near Plymouth and this maybe where he met his wife?
Also think Ida is from the sposes side cos i have found a poss for her in Plymouth.
Military records may help.
