THE EAGLE HAS LANDED..............

briefly......the journey was fine, snow ceased halfway up between Essex and Coventry....and

Major was at the entrance to the field waiting on Sisko arriving.. Sisko walked down the ramp, found his footing, neighed a couple of times, heard Major whinny and away they went galloping around the field just like spring lambs.. am just hoping daughter took her camcorder to record the reunion of soul mates...oh..am crying again.xxxxxxx

Catch up with you later...need to massage fingers and toes now lol.

Hi everyone, gosh you have been busy, cannot keep up just now, hopefully I will be back to normal next week and can catch up with all of you.

Quick update on MIL: We have found out she forgot to take her meds for a week before her first heart attack. I know she had been upset about doc not letting her renew her driving license, so think this consumed her thinking, and she is a very busy lady. It has now been organised by SIL for a health care worker to visit daily to make sure she takes her pills and even though she cannot drive, she will be picked up and taken to her bingo ect, plus if she wants to shop.

Have been sooooo busy, I nearly forgot we had a wedding to go to yesterday, it was lovely, and I cried and OH cried.

Ben you are doing so well, I know its hard but you have a lot of support here.

Hi Gail, my Father did the same as your MiL when he was alive. after my Mum died he decided he didn't need to take his BP pills, he didn't have a heart attack fortunately but he did have a stroke. he recovered and lived another 5 years and died when he was 93.

Glad you enjoyed the wedding. Good to see you anyway, just come back as soon as you are able to.

Hi everyone

Sorry that I have not been on for a few days.
Faced the snow and wind to work at the family history society on Friday and the place was dead !! There were more helpers than people.Think people assumed we would be closed .
Son returned from uni with usual load of dirty washing .I noticed blood stains on his clothes and it turns out the operation he had last summer the problem has returned .He was only given the all clear in January . I then spend ages on phone to G docs and we eventually got an appointment .The place was heaving with it being easter hols .The doctor he saw didn't even dress his wounds and sent him away with a prescription for anti biotics .You ever tried finding a chemist on a saturday night ? As you know I find it difficult to drive so bless my sister she came all the way over to me collected prescription and eventually found tesco was still open .
Now I will have to battle with my own surgery to get him seen as a temporary patient and I can imagine the volume of people who will be trying to do the same when they re open on tuesday .
We have had blizzards here in Scotland but it looks like most parts of the country are the same.
Have been doing the bad word today house work .Went to get him a glass for water and found a dead spider in it !! yuk so today I have been cleaning kitchen shelves wearing my rubber gloves just in case there are any more eight legged things .
Hope you are all well today and enjoying easter . I didn't get an easter egg but he did go out to the shop to get me a sunday paper .

love to all

Hi Kathy,
I too would have assumed the FHS was shut on Good Friday.

Sorry to hear about your son, hope he can get sorted next week OK.

Yuk spiders!

No snow here, has been sunny all day until now. But we are now in the middle of a sleet storm.

Let us know how your son gets on.

Scooby's

Scooby's Report 23 Mar 2008 16:15

Hi everyone
Little worried about my mum today (she will be 77 in a few weeks) she has a bad cold and is quite depressed after IOW, she never gets colds. She says she is not going out until Tuesday and that's only if she feels better, that's not her either.
So of course this worries me and has brought me down too. I have forced myself to turn the computer on but I have so much to do and don't want to.
The house looks a mess, it needs decorating but o/h won't do it and I cannot do as much as I used to
(arthritis in both hands started now and neck problems) so things are getting me down a bit.
I know what will happen, I start to hate myself and all the small things I have to do become mountainous. It is now when i hate my depression because it takes over and I have to fight it (so no railway platforms for me).
I don't really suffer fromOCD but I know that I now have to get a pen and paper and write everything down, all the work that needs doing, all the birthdays for the next couple of months, all my voluntary work, I have to make a plan for the next month so that I know I won't forget anything, it's very laborious and tiring but a necessity. The thing is I don't want to be bothered but I won't start to feel better till I have done it.
Love to everyone, it is good to share a problem
Janet

Justice of Peace

Justice of Peace Report 23 Mar 2008 16:30

Hello again...
It would appear my serious side of nature is determined to play a part this Easter Sunday.
Below you will read words I penned after talking to the ward manager (matron) prior to my discharge the first time around, from hospital. She asked me if I was serious and if so it would be a boost to the morale of the nursing staff who rarely got recognition for their duties performed under difficult circumstances.
This poem or verse was sent to the matron who had it framed and it now takes pride of place inside the ward, right next to the doctor's working station....
..........................

Edith Cavell Ward

Recorded in history, one Edith Cavell
Dedicated to human needs
Today in hospitals throughout the world
They practise and follow her lead

One teaching hospital in Basildon
A shining example to all
Where nursing staff are angels
When illness does befall

Total devotion to those in their care
Carrying out their tasks
Kind words together with patience
Their pain for us they mask

The pressure in their workload
Covering for colleagues who break
Under the stress of pressure
An enforced rest to take

Not only are they qualified
In their duties to perform
But give extra of themselves
To us souls lost in a storm

They radiate peace and hope
Their smiles a welcome sight
They tend with a gentle touch
In them you see the light

To emerge back to life
Time with them, a distant blot
They will never be forgotten
Those that gave their lot

So why are these angels
Belittled with pitiful pay
When their simple aim in life
Is to help us on our way

T'is a national disgrace
Such dedication should be soiled
By the ignorant majority who rule this land
They, who never a day have toiled

............................

I followed with a personal message which read:

In my three score years and ten spent travelling far and wide, I have never known such closeness, understanding and dedication to a single cause as I have experienced during my sojourn in your ward.
My heartfelt thanks go out to all of you for being there for me, when I needed you most.
.....................

That personal message I now send to each and every one of you. That our thread continues to give out help and trust, so sorely needed by so many.

Hi Janet, sorry your Mum is poorly. It is probably just because she has a cold. The older you get the harder they are to shake off. I hope she will feel better son.

A list is a good idea, make the items 'bite sized' so that you can quickly cross some off when done. I make lists all the time, it is a good way of emptying your mind and making sure nothing gets forgotten.

that is lovely Joyce, and the poem is wonderful. You should have sent it to a newspaper. I am sure that it has given much pleasure and comfort to those that work in the hospital to know they are appreciated.

Hi Elaine, sorry you have had a bad day. was the doc insinuating that you had high cholestrol that could be causing your problems? How did he get onto cholestrol? Can you think if anything your cousin said started you off? At least the doctor gave you the number of the samaratans did you ring them..Maybe it would help to talk to them. Hope you will feel better tomorrow.

Just a thought, you say you were sitting drinking tea. Do you drink much tea? are you sure it is not caffeine that causes the shakes? have you thought of decaffeinated tea? I know if I drink more than one cup of coffee I get a rapid heart beat.

Hi laine,
We've not spoken before. I've not posted since about page 7-8.
I use to have those cholesterol lumps. Show them to your GP when you go on Tuesday,he should check your blood and either tell you what foods to avoid or give you tablets.
Ann is right about caffine try to not have as much. and be careful as some fizzy drinks have it in.
Hope all goes well when you see your dr. on tuesday
Marion.

Hi Elaine hun, sorry you;re feeling down. Are you on statins for your cholesterol? I've been on them for years. Everyone is right about caffeine by the way, coffee, tea and soft drinks too. I only drink decaff coffee after about 3:00 pm. My high cholesterol has notjing to do with my food intake - it's what's called familial though can't ever remember Mum or Dad having being diagnosed with it, but they must have had the same problem - one of them at least. Mine was in double figures when diagnosed, now it's around 5 with medication. You know by the way don;t you that you can pm any of us and if you want you can have my home phone number and email if you wish - just pm me for details - we're all Samaritans in a way - helping each other through the bad times cos we all understand.

Love and hugs, Ann XXXXX
