Brenda, I once went to the old street where I grow up. Now I know why they say never go back. Everything had changed, and looked smaller than I remember too. LL

Brenda. Belle Vue Road is actually behind the back of Leeds Uni and it's still there.Had friends that lived in Belle Vue Road back in the 50's/60's in the through terrace houses and back to backs further down the street. Where your sister lives is only 2 minutes from where I live.I live just behind the Parish Church in the Victorian houses. May know your sister. If you want pm me her name to see if I know her. Yes course us Yorkshire lasses don't weigh any ingredients even to make cakes/Yorkie puds. Sue

Another one to add to the mix! I live in Ossett and have lived here for 7 years. I was born in Yorkshire and lived in Castleford, Ferrybridge, Pontefract. Then as a teen moved out the country and lived in Scotland, Norway and USA. Been back in Yorkshire for almost 10 years now. Most of my ancestors are from Castleford and surrounding areas. Joanne

Granny Carr, I Iive a couple of miles from Jump which is near Hemmingfield, Elsecar, Hoyland etc. We used to be West Riding but are now South Yorkshire. Was better in the old days when W R. I also worked in Lincolnshire which became Humberside. Why can't they leave us alone. Elaine.

Anne in North London Report 31 Jul 2006 21:30

My hubby was born and bred in Doncaster, family still live there. We met at Sheffield Poly in 1977. I lived just around the corner from where the Yorkshire Ripper was caught. That was scary at the time. Having said that I love Yorkshire. Anne in North London
