LL sorry luv, Canadian, but just recently found out my ggrandfather was from (supposedly) Yorkshire. For a long time I've been searching for him in Hampshire as gran said her dad said he was from Southhampton and I know ggrannie was from Devon. Now after talking with my gran again she said she remembered her dad talking about being from Beverly??? Only Danford I can find with right year of birth was born in Rotherham, so am ordering the Birth cert and hoping this is the right one. Dear old ggranddad wasn't apparently above board on a lot of his past life. Long story lol. Debs |

Hi Deb, Beverly is in North Yorkshire, we go through it (depending on wich route we take) when going to Bridlington. Rotherham is roughly an hours drive from were I live (not too far from the meadowhall shopping centre). LL |

LL, thanks for the info. not knowing any of UK other than on maps wasn't sure how far Beverly was from Rotherham, but guess it's not that far. As mentioned ggrandad was not a forthright man and so my gran doesn't know a whole lot about him. He immigrated to Canada in 1909 with ggrannie but can't even find a marriage record. They might have gotten married at sea or once in Canada but nothing found. She was from Devon and he from Yorkshire so not even sure where they met etc. Oh well will continue to search this illusive man. lol. Debs |

Hi Deb, Not 100% sure but think Rotherham comes under 'south' Yorkshire, maybe someone could confirm this? LL |

Yep, 'Fraid all hauntings in and around York (and there are lots) are mainly soldiers and monks. Don't want to start a believer or none believer thread but me and hubby saw a monk (ghost) just past Stamford Bridge going towards Leeds quite a few years ago. Not seen owt since tho. LL |

Hi Janet, I have never been to one before. It was £3 each to get in and was so packed ( it was a hot day) couldn't get nr half the stalls. I was glad to get out for some air. Never even saw GR stand. Didn't know it was there til I had come out, and saw it on a piece of paper I had picked up. LL |

Hi all. What about the GREY LADY in the theartre Royal? And i beleive that the Grand theartre is haunted by someone. I was there one night watch Keith Charles, the ghost hunting detective. I kept seeing a dark shadow pass me as i sat in my aisle. I thought i was imagining it but it was constant all evening. Strange thing was i didn`t feel frightened at all! Vanessa |

if its family roots that count my main line of Harwoods come from the area north of York. mainly the North/East Riding border. Kirby Underdale Kirby Grindalhythe, Kirkby Moorside, and to be different Goathland. So we are a Yorkshire family that emigrated to london and then west. I hope to get up there this Summer to see some of the original docs. Jim |

I was born in Yorkshire(Sheffield) and moved away 24yrs ago to live in London,. Now live just outside Gt Yarmouth and I wouldn't move anywhere else now, but I still consider myself a good old Yorkshire Lass, even though I no longer have my accent Lindax. |
