I have only been two meets because of the blasted distance, although I was privileged to go to Daff's birthday bash :-))) Met Jean and Maz when I was in London for something else. Jax and Stray have visited me at home and Claire and I have seen each other quite a lot. None of that would have been possible without first attending a meet.

I guess that you tend to gravitate towards people you 'know' at first then just generally make a nuisance of yourself and talk to anyone that will listen after that..lol

Even the shy ones shouldn't worry because I have never known anyone excluded.

Even if I heard that a couple of people who I certainly dislike in the cyber world were attending a meet it wouldn't put me off going. I would be intrigued to see for myself what they are like in in the flesh.

I think you give people too much credit. I see some whose behaviour on here leaves a lot to be desired, but I wouldn't mind betting they wouldn't have the courage to behave like that to our faces. I think if they attended a meet, they would be on their best behaviour TBH

Silly Sausage Report 13 Feb 2010 22:34

Your the only reason I am going to Peterborough meet this year Sue :)))))

I look forward to my days in London with TW and BC as well, but again the day is never long enough but it normally ends ina drama...lol

Uggers

Uggers Report 13 Feb 2010 22:34

I agree with that Sue - I used to go to a lot of London meets and never saw anyone excluded. If anyone looked a bit shy or out of it there always seemed to be someone thoughtful enough to go and talk to them.

Muffyxx Report 13 Feb 2010 22:35

I wouldn't NOT attend a meet if someone who disliked me was going.

I'm like Hayley on this.....wouldn't WANT to cause a scene for everyone elses sake.....BUT.....wouldn't be able to guarantee I wouldn't

AND as i said before it's supposed to be FUN fgs.....I can't be doing with saddos gate crashing and I'd get jolly cross lol xx

OMG what if I ever went to a meet and no one talked to me and left me sat in a corner all on my own :-(((

Whirley

Whirley Report 13 Feb 2010 22:39

Yep agree Lynda..............I dont take no S*** in the real world and certainly wldnt do so on here..............

TeresaW

TeresaW Report 13 Feb 2010 22:39

Hayley...I cant' believe you just said that. One of the reasons I'm going is to have a day with you...the others are a massive and welcome bonus. But if you're not going to meet your bezzie mate....well.....*sniff*

Whirley, you know I wasn't meaning you, I was referring to your thinking everyone was the same off the boards as on....but there are one or two we give too much credit to, and that they are only brave behind the screen, and they wouldn't dare act so despicably face to face.

Uggers

Uggers Report 13 Feb 2010 22:40

Muffy I haven't read the Peterborough meet thread - have you got any people who aren't well known to you on the boards going? Cos with the London meets it did seem to be mostly old faces or board friends going and I do think it might be off putting if you're a bit shy cos everyone seemed like old friends

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 13 Feb 2010 22:41

Well I know that Uggers was delighted to meet me as was Maz and Jean and I certainly lived up to their expectations:-)) Lynda snubbed me and refused to meet up so I'd never to a meet if she were likely to turn up:-)))

I think Jane is coming along for the first time, Sue M is meeting most of us for the first time, George has never met us, and I'm sure there are others, but we haven't actually got a list yet lol

Whirley

Whirley Report 13 Feb 2010 22:44

TW no , I was just picking up a point you was referring to. I agree. some gob off behind the safe seat of their PC knowing others will "fight their corner for them".......It's easy to shout "bully" or "no mark" or whatever behind the screen, give em a chance to do it in the real world............Hah, shrinking violets!!..........& that get's right up my hooter!!

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 13 Feb 2010 22:45

Yeah there are a few Uggers....but I don't have any problems with them at all. In fact I'd have chosen to meet up with them !!!

Like I say....if it were down to ME I'd throw the whole thing open...but P/Boro meets are an easy going riot and I hope they stay that way !

Some people pay LOADS of money to attend and put themselves out for the day ....it's not fair to jeopardize that for some sap that just wants to seek attention lol

Some of us HAVE met before but we all remember how it felt to meet new people and we all make sure everyone is made welcome....it's natural to be more familiar with those that you've met before but I hope that doesn't come across as an exclusive club because it really isn't xx
