Hi Ann,
Yes, Colin was definitely at both - Jim was definitely at the Portsmouth one.

Woody's Report 14 Feb 2010 16:55

I've been to several - most in Scotland - but also to Liverpool (thanks to Keith and his Mrs for showing us the sights!), and to Middlesbrough (thanks BoroBabs!) Most were to meet GR people and all were open to anyone who was available. I think we all got on well, if not then I must need an eye test.
In Scotland we have several mini-meets if others are on holiday here. If anyone is in my area I consider it polite to help with directions or show them around if possible. Last year and also this year, my time is limited so can't go too far from home.
I also belong to a Scottish site and we have a main meeting in the summer time which is open to all. A friend calls it "serious research", to a certain extent it is as we have different speakers and varying topics. We do make time for the social part as well though!

Interesting thread. I enjoy meets but I tend to stick to those over this side, we had three good ones in Bristol and two at Droitwich. But I don't think anyone on this thread came to any of those. And, of course the Swansea one was excellent and great fun.

Maggie, I almost came to the Winchester one you went to and also the Portsmouth one, but I think in the end I must have been on holiday. Colin and Jim were at those weren't they?

I think a MEET should be just that - a meet, ie a way of people meeting each other.
I don't think anyone should be excluded.

As in any other social situation where someone present is someone with whom you don't get along, well, then just don't speak to them.

Simples!

anybody can come to any of the meets in Liverpool
if they dont want to talk to some members well thats up to them
But they can still come and talk to WHO they like
As they say if you come to a meet and you dont like it you can always leave
