~~~~~~~ to mamiddau... yes, I am busy watching 3 men at work.... one is hubby.... the other two are professionals, and far too polite to tell hubby to get lost, lolol!! I have a digger, a turf cutter, and lots of other bits of mechanical equipment that haven't been unloaded yet.... 6 days they say it will take... can''t wait, and then planting everything into place afterwards will be lovely, too. |
Good afternoon Daff Life in your garden sounds to be really good ;O) we've been out working in ours the last few days and it's great to see everything blooming, potted up a few baskets and making new herb tubs. I love this time of year don't you? |
Daff, found out a bit about the house from the web. It is the Cologan family mansion, still in the family but looks as though it is boarded up. She is a Marchionesse, he is the president of the European banana growers association I think. A very important family. Agatha Christie based her book The Man from the sea on the area around the house, and the cyprus tree walk opposite and I think one of her books was actually set in the mansion. |
Morning Daff and all:-) Was reading the posts back and having a little chuckle at Jac's neighbour and the pretty weeds! I'm sure you must be very busy Daff, looking after all those hunky gardeners and making tea and stuff. `Am looking forward to seeing the photos when all is done. |
Morning everyone... wet and miserable here today... I hope it brightens up later. They want to lay the patio area and the paviers to define the borders... but have decided to put the fence up instead, as the concrete won't set in the rain. |
Taff, good luck with your test tomorrow.... and I once read a definition of a weed... *Any plant that is growing in a place you don't want it to be* so if you like it, and find it attractive, then don't let anyone deter you from growing it!! |
Hi Daff, deep shade, think woodland plants. Hellebores, bluebells, Daffs probably, ferns, some hostas. |
Hiya Ann.... I have been furiously googling, lol!! I already have some hellebores Thank you!!) ... they can go in... and I'll sort the geranium/cranesbill that I have... it will do well there, I think... So.... this is going to be my little woodland spot... it is blocked on the one side by a shed, and the other by a dirty great big horse chestnut!! I'll get some hosta... it is only a small area, but once last years' compost has matured a bit more, there will be another, matching one on the other side of that fence.... and some light coloured paint for the shed and fence.... |
