Lee Marvin - in Cat Ballou - he was very funny and his horse was even funnier - how on earth they got the horse to slide down the wall like that was amazing. I also liked him in Dirty Dozen.

Not keen on violence that is why I left the Shining alone the other night - but I do not mind black comedy violence - I reckon David if you have not already seen it - Hot Fuzz - it's like watching Midsomer Murders on Speed.
There are so many send ups in it and has a brilliant British cast.

Last night we watched "Ready when you are Mr McGill" I think it was made for television - had Bill Nighy - who is always good and also Tom Courtenay and Amanda Holden along with a host of different ones that you see on British shows - like the policeman chap on Doc Martin (I think he is in Hot Fuzz as well)

I don't know anyone who doesn't like James Stewart - yes I liked The Glenn Miller Story with June Allyson ( later on she went on to advertise incontinence pads - but I suppose someone has to do it) I think he must've been a favourite of Hitchcock's as well - apart from Rear Window he was in the Man who knew too much - with Doris Day (she is still alive - there was a big article on her in Vanity Fair several months ago) I have always loved her singing.

Hi all, no never seen that one david, have to say I'm not a fan of Nicholas Cage. I saw him in Captain Corelli's Mandolin...and it ruined the film for me as he was the leading man! Had it been Antonio Banderas, well that would have been a different matter!

Groundhog Day - yes I enjoyed that a good one of Bill Murrays.

Nicolas Cage not a fan saw him in "Leaving Las Vegas" where he played an Alcoholic - he got the Oscar for it. His co star was Elizabeth Shue who I have not seen in ages. Also saw him star with Cher in Moonstruck and in Raising Arizona - a Coen brothers cult movie.

The Graduate will be replayed and replayed the cast of Hoffman, Bancroft and Katherine Ross (who later starred as Redford's girlfriend in Butch Cassidy) were all good value.

You know I still preferred Travolta as Vinnie Barbarino in the TV series Welcome Back Cotter.
But Grease was the most popular movie at school girl parties when my daughter was about 11.

Dear old Thora Hurd was attractive as a young woman

So was the dancer and singer who went on to become Mrs Dale in that long running tea time seriel. Jessis Matthews wasn't it ?

Well this was way down on page six.

Thora Hird a real stalwart of television. Cunning with it. When she travelled she would always be upgraded to first class by the airways in the UK as she was always recognised. Later in life, when she was in a wheelchair, what should have been a short shopping trip would take all day as everyone would stop and talk to her and her helper had to stand around and wait. When she went to the states she was not so well known, but she did get an emmy for her performance in "Wide Eyed and Legless" as did her script writer. When she was flying out from the states because of the lack of recognition she took out her statuette and had it on her lap and she got upgraded to 1st class. Her script writer told them he had won one as well - they said yeh course you did (his was packed away) and he did not get an upgrade.

We never got The Dales here in NZ - and I am not that familiar with Jessie Matthews.

Have recorded the Pianist - so must watch that soon.

Does anyone have a film they can watch 'time and time' again?
Mine's 'The Girl With The Pearl Earring'. Just adore everything about that film -find it captivating and always find something different about it each time I watch it, as it is beautifully shot.

Must put this one up...I know every one's going on about Mickey Rourke at the moment...but he was BRILLIANT in Angel Heart, saw it years ago. He was so nice looking then... ♫"Oh Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you you blow my mind hey Mickey...hey Mickey!" ♪

He turned down many parts and freely admits he f*****d up his career but I'm glad he's back.

He's still nice even though he's not so pretty...he still has that swagger and masculinity that makes him so sexy!!

He also played an officer on the train in Von Ryan's Express opposite Frank Sinatra and Trevor Howard

I think the actor could be Wolfgang Preiss (1910 - 2002).

He starred alongside Burt Lancaster in John Frankenheimer's The Train (1964), Frank Sinatra in Von Ryan's Express (1965), Robert Mitchum in Anzio (1968), with Richard Burton, in the title role of Erwin Rommel in Raid on Rommel (1971), and The Boys From Brazil (1978) with Gregory Peck.

He also appeared in the 1980's TV mini-series The Winds of War and War and Remembrance, based on the books of Herman Wouk.

Did you know that Steve McQueen passed away 29 years ago today?

Hi all, just thought I'd have a quick look before I get ready for work.

Elizabeth I think you like Steve McQueen don't you, lot of the ladies did! We've spoke about this before I'm sur, my son was born a week to the day after Steve Mcqueen passed away, i remember the nurses saying was he named after him...although my Steve's name is Stephen. I remember well being heavily pregnant and hearing he's passed away, not very old either was he.
