Hi Norma,
No sorry "Downsouth" in my case is the south coast of England...I live in Sussex between Brighton and Portsmouth............though how i`d love to live in Australia............
Never seen wall-E myself ,but have heard its good......off to take younger daughter to see the Fantastic Mr. Fox tommorow, though may not actually go in myself as we may be meeting friends there, so all the young people will go in together......
almost hoping no one turns up, so as i can go in with her...... the main charecter is voiced by George Clooney......... {sighs...} I think he has a lovely voice..

Dear All
Hello
I have made knocked down a fewbrick walls in my family tree. Keeping me very busy!
Two films that are easy on the eye to watch:
"Blame it on the bellboy", 1992
"Shall we dance?", Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon. Richard wants to learn to dance but his wife thinks he is having an affair!
Back to work!
Take care all
Very best wishes x

Hi Nicky I have only every been to London on the way back from the States - stayed there for about a week unlike my daughter who did her OE over there for just over two years and my OH did his OE in the UK when he was young.
I plan on coming over sometime as I have an awful lot of ancestors from Kent.
I did not fancy George Clooney at first and then I saw him in a movie (one of those feel good ones) with Michelle Pfeiffer and I thought hmmm.
He was exceptionally good in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" it was such a funny film and he hammed it up beautifully. It also starred Holly Hunter and I am not a fan of hers but she was okay in it.... her accent drives me to distraction. It was done by the Cohen brothers and since then Clooney was in their movie "Burn after Reading"with his mate Brad Pitt.

Hello Elizabeth who is knocking down brick walls.
Shall we Dance is quite a pleasant film, was on the TV here a few months ago and we both watched it.
Jennifer Lopez pops up in all the local mags (which I don't buy) see her face on them when I am at the supermarket. That is the first movie I had seen her in and thought she carried it off well. Have always been a Susan Sarandon fan since Thelma and Louise and Richard Gere - well he is an Officer and a Gentleman after all and easy on the eye.

Hi Elizabeth and Norma......
Knocking down walls eh Elizabeth! great isn`t it, i`ve just got back a generation further on one of my lines and made another contact {distant cousin}...we`re busy pooling our information and thoughts at the moment....so addictive this hobby.......
You know I havn`t seen the Richard Gere film you mention, which is suprising as I thought I`d seen just about all of them......oooohhhh Officer and a Gentleman, Richard Gere at his best, {swoons} unfortunatly i don`t feel he improved with age like most of our Hollywood hearthrobs, and actually find him quite unattractive nowadays......think it might be his hair, he tends to keep it longer now...the crewcut definetly suited him best..... I also have quite a lot of Kent ancestors Norma, but am stuck at the moment and have been waiting for Parish records from Tudeley cum Capel from my local LDS centre for nearly 2 months now....I keep ringing them weekly, but get told they`ve still not arrived ......at least when they do get here ,I can keep them for 3 months now.......... Hoping 3x gr grandmother was baptised in Capels as well as married there so can get back at least another generation......
I`m afraid i must agree with the Holly Hunter accent......it really grates dosn`t it.
George Clooney first came to my attention in ER {the show that made him famous} he`s very good in The Perfect Storm with Mark Whalberg {another one whos pleasing on the eye} and also Oceans 11, hes also in quite a good one with Nicole Kidman ,but the name escapes me at the moment.

Hi David
Think you mean Danny Devito or is it De Vito - the whole cast of taxi were good. His wife was in Cheers - Pearl someone or was that her name in Cheers? They had a good cast as well. Not much for American Sitcoms prefer the British but there are the odd good ones that come out of USA.
Edit: was out this arvo and her name came to me... well I think it did - Rhea Pearlman?
Cheers

Will have to keep this thread on the alert until Pam reappears!!

Seeing you mention Cheers Norma reminded what great Friday night TV we had in the late 80s early 90s......Channel 4 was Cheers followed by Rosanne....did any of you watch it?
Not a Rosanne Barr fan, but she was excellent in it, with John Goodman as the long suffering husband and a mixed assortment of kids....oh I used to laugh...

Hello folks and hello to Norma, I've been a bit busy of late and as Nicky said occasionally do nights...so have turned into a bit of a vampire of late sleeping during the day! (Dawn 'til Dusk, Mo!) ha ha!
I never really liked Rosanne Barr, occasionally I watched Cheers and Taxi, yes it was Danny De Vito Norma, he was a right bossy little so 'n' so wasn't he!!
Does anyone remember "Soap", it was shown in the late ninties and early eighties, about two families the Tates and the Campbells, I really enjoyed that. Not often I'm into american humour, but that was good i thought, normally shown far too late ona Sunday night.
Glad the thread is keepng busy even when I neglet it! It's nice to see new name on here, (Hi Nicky glad you're okay)
My membership runs out on the 22nd November and i'm not sure if I'll be renewing it, but if I don't i know the threads in safe hands!
Pam.

Hi Pam, do stay with us. It's only pennies a day for all of this.
I love Jo Brand, comedienne. She is a former nurse and her styyle of humour is earthy and hilarious lol
Yes, De Vito's the one I was thinking of

Soap was a regular in our household - I loved the way Bert would think he was an invisible. The dimwit son that thought the ventrioquist son's dummy was real.
The chap that played Benson - I think his name was Robert Guillame (sori abt spelling) played the lead in Phantom in the Opera in Los Angeles - this would be in the nineties .
Not a Rosanne fan Nicky, but I used to watch the odd one as my youngest daughter watched it and she was good bit like Tim the Tool Man in Home Improvements or whatever it is called - only used to see the odd one now and again.
But I was definitely a M*A*S*H fan and a Barney Miller fan.
Cheers and glad you have returned to the fray (fraying thread) Pam for awhile there I thought I would have to talk to myself.
When are you "Coming out to play Roy?"

Well I only popped in whilst I had the chance this morning it is 11.30am and we are about to go "To the dump, to the dump to the dump dump dump"
So that takes care of lunch - get to eat out.

No i think you were correct with your first statement David.......Roger rabbit was rather BLAH....nothing to do with being tired....Lol
As for Father Ted, don`t know where i was at the time but I`ve actually never seen a whole episode of it........ wasn`t that the series that made a star of Graham Norton?....I know he`s crude, but he is funny......

I watched ,Man on a Wire the other day......The chap that walked the wire between the Twin Towers in the 70's.He was obsessed with doing this and planned it since the beginning of the building of the towers.I don't know if you have all seen it,but I felt he was a selfish man and used his friends to get to his goal ,because after he had done the walk it was as though he didn't need those friends anymore. I don't know if I am right in thinking that.

My youngest daughter was a real " Father Ted" fan and I would watch the odd one and the one I liked had Graham Norton in it and they were playing hide and seek in a carvan. They ended up doing Irish dancing and I think the whole caravan toppled over.
Pam, I hope you don't mind all this chatter about TV programmes as well as movies but then a lot of stars cross over from one to the other (and I am not talking about crossdressing will leave that to Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Mrs Doubtfire, Some Like it Hot and that one with John Travolta in it.)
