Aww Joy what a treasure. You should read them, and get an insight into their lives and the people they were back then. |

My first thought was to read them BUT then I dug deeper and my thoughts now that these were private thoughts between the two and really meant for their eyes only. |

Shirley if your daughter read the letter she would know how much love you had for each other as you say he isnt a romantic so they were unexpected. maybe thats how your daughter sees her dad so this would be a refreshing eye opener |

Joy, please read them, or at least let someone read them for you. Mum had a tin of love letters from my dad in a toffee tin in her wardrobe for years. Sadly she got rid of them, probably when they moved house. I used to peep at them when I was young, but never dared to read them. How I wish now that I had done. |

After my Mum died 11 years ago I was sorting out her papers before the funeral. I found all the letters that my Dad (who had died 10 years previously) had ever written to her. I didn't read any of them. Instead I put them in her coffin with her, thinking that they were her letters and if she'd wanted me to read them she would have shown them to me. |

I've got a diary that belonged to my OH's mum.......I've never read it and he has no desire to so it's up in the loft. Not my place to read it really as it's his family and his choice. |
