Find Ancestors

Have just emailed my 2nd cousin in Australia to see if she knows any more, she is his Grand Daughter, but I am sure she has told me all she knows about him.

Have spoken to 2 of my 2nd cousins and no one has any further information on the whereabouts of James Thomas Potter.

It definatly seems that Elizabeth went on to marry Edward Jenkins in 1889, 2 years after the birth of the last child (Charlie) to James and Elizabeth. Without getting a divorce from James. I am probably not going to get any further with Elizabeth, but still don't know what happened to James Thomas Potter yet.

According to a tree on Ancestry, Elizabeth died 06/11/1908, but the same tree has Edward Jenkins as the father of the Potter children, so it clearly hasn't been properly researched.

The trouble is that the Potter/Jenkins/Martin/Thomas/Stafford/Williams (and on and on and on) family is massive, there are lots and lots of my relatives on Ancestry, many of them copy the others. The only one that I know that you can count on is the Thomas's and Harper, and they dont know. My great grandfather Arthur Potter was dad to the Potter children, like his father before him (James Thomas Potter) I know that for a fact, as one of them is my Nan, and several of the children although elderly now, are still alive. My family is a mine field.

Then G Grandmother Elizabeth, married again, as we now know, and so Jenkins was father to the Jenkins children.

This side of my family has been reasonably easy, as a lot are still alive, its just my G Grandfather Thomas, and one or two others, but given the size of the family the missing bits are quite small in comparison.

I have a cousin Barrie Jenkins, (still alive) and I cant seem to find out who his parents are, his Grandparents are Isaac and Eliza Ann Martin.

His present partner, and also ex wife (they are now back together) is also my cousin, her father is Arthur Martin. This is the reason I dont want to ask him who his parents are. Might be a sensitive area. They both have Isaac and Eliza Martin as their Grand Parents. That is a fact as well. (see what I mean, what a family!!!)

Trying to piece it together is difficult to say the least.

The only marriage on freebmd for Isaac Martin to Eliza A is in 1870, which seems much too far back

When/where was ARTHUR born?

Have you looked on freebmd for Barrie's birth?

If, as you say, his grandparents are Martin - that must be his mother's maiden name

The other problem with the family is that there are so many of them, and so many of them with the same name I've never known anything like it.

No havnt looked on freebmd for Barrie, didnt know I could do that.

Which Arthur, there are a few, my g grandfather 1882 to 1961 son of the missing
James Thomas Potter, can give you exact dates if needed.

You say your cousin's father is Arthur Martin - that's the one I meant

Yes it is. She was married to Barrie in the 60's. They got divorced, she re married, then her 2nd husband died, and now she is back with Barrie. I think she was married to someone Evans the 2nd time I can check that.

Linda has a sister Sylvia.

I seem to remember Linda telling me once that 6 children died.
