Hi Lorraine, could be any of the following;

Wife Lydia b 1850 Wales UK
son Arthur b 1872 Wales UK
son Edward b 1883 Pennsylvania USA

I know he came over in 1898 (I have those details -I think you gave them to me thanks ) just prior to his father's death. I found a Cornelius Baker's death in England in Kensington in Dec Q 1912 and as his mother died in 1912 wondered if he came over to see her and subsequently died here too.

Regards, Lou

Hi Lorraine,

I can only view the free bit,

I did find a Cornelius Baker but he's in Glamorgan. His wife came from Monmouthshire, so I suppose he could have visited them prior to his visit to his mother and then died en-route.

hi
if you have a chance could you check for james mitlon on passenger lists to Quebec. It is listed on ancestry.com but i do not have international coverage for the site. He was born in London /middx 9/8 1869 occupation gardener. The family believes he died after an accident involving a threshing machine but i have no concrete proof of this.

Is he perhaps listed i nthe 1911 canadian census? any help very much appreicated.

I do not have parents names or where born! could possibly be Shropshire or Birmingham. His wife (that he left) was called Ann Duce, b 1855. They married June Quarter 1874, Cleobury Mortimer 6a 1149. they had a son, Albert William Walker b1876. William is not on the 1881 census.
Many thanks

I think your best bet is to get his marriage cert to anne that will give his fathers name you can then look for him in census and see where he was born as walker is quite a common name it will be easier to find him if you could find his place of birth

Bernard Report 29 Jul 2010 20:02

Hello Lorraine,
Thanks for offering to do look-ups. I would like to try to find details of Asa Robinson, born 1883, Tosside, Yorkshire, West Riding, still there in 1901. I am told he went to Canada, B.C. about 1906. We think he married in Canada and had family. We did try to find him when we were in Halifax, N.S. in 2008, without success. It is rather a mystery, as some of his relations did have contact at one time.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hello Lorraine,
Thanks for having a look. Yes, we have searched 1911 Census and BMD records, so will try to get more details about his departure for Canada. It looks as though he was one of those souls who were good at escaping head counts. We are assured by his great-niece that he went to British Columbia when her mother was a fortnight old (Feb.1906).
