I think the age on the 1911 of Robert maybe wrong.I have worked hard on yours and the only family i can see that matches the info you gave me is the 1 i have mentioned to you.I will post this family on here in a little while for you to see.There are alot of matches...just a couple of the birthyears are not accurate.Does it say on the transcript how long the couple had been married?If not i think it would def be worth checking the image to see-cos it should be on 1 of the records...then i can look for the marriage.

Hi Michelle Thanks so much for that, it could possibly be her as there doesn't seem to be any other Croydon born Hutchings, will try and get a closer look at it, just wish we'd found out more when my grandad and his sister were still alive, have a feeling my great aunt did find her as she knew she had died, but have no idea if she stayed a Lewis, remarried or went back to Hutchings or when she died! Thanks Michelle!!! Here goes:
Annie Louisa Hutchings married Frank Lewis both born in Croydon.
Frank born 1880 In 1911 census stated married for 7 years so assume it around 1904, but as i said i have one marriage cert the only one i could find on line for Epsom 1904 but Frank has put dad as John Lewis when our Franks dad was William Lewis, born Teynham Kent. They lived in Croydon and then in 1901 they are in Bexhill Susex. Frank was a plumber then a slater/tiler. His father William Lewis married Sophie Howland and they had Harry and Frank. Looking back to Williams census in 1861 I have found he had a brother John, so not sure if for some reason frank Listed him as his father on the marriage cert!! On the cert Annies father is listed as AJ Hutchings a builder (deceased) this is who I have found in the censuses in Croydon and Hackney with Annie L, mother Caroline Hutchings.
There are a few name coincidences which I know you shouldn't go by!! Annie had a brother Albert, and one Henry also and a sister Lilian.
My great grandmother (the elusive Annie) and Frank named their children Lilian, Edith, Albert and my grandfather was Frank Henry. SO the names do follow on but they also popular!!
We think Annie left around 1914/15 when my grandfather was around 3, he mentioned his sister Lilian who died when she was around 14, which I can't find, she would have been born in 1904/05. Also he never mentioned Albert so not sure if he died young (would have been born 1909/1910 )or did Annie take him with her, leaving my grandad, Edith and Lilian??!!! My grandfather was born in 1912 so not in 1911 census!!!

I know on 1911 that William and Sophie still in Bexhill, whilst Frank had obviously set up home back in Croydon with Annie.....61 Dominnion Road Addiscombe.
Thats all; I have I'm afraid!! Someone one told my mum that Annie was a nurse? but how true that is i don't know if that is her in 1901 census then she is only a servant. ANymore info you need I'll be happy to let you know!!! Thanks so much

The ages you stated for me Benjamin aged 38 Elizabeth 35 and Doris 1 if this was for the 1901 this could be them-the family i have previously mentioned to you.Elizabeth's age is out though.The older children could well have left home by the 1911.I have seen a birth around 1858 for a Robert Benjamin Clarke.There are no Benjamin Clarkes on any census with the birthplace and age you have given me.I looked for Doris born 1900 1st and this is the only 1 showing in the right birthyear and place.So you can see why i am always drawn back to this family

What was the listed district of your Roberts birthplace?

Thank you Michelle... I will follow up on the Thomas from Wicklow lead. I think I may have seen the 1901 Thomas but discounted it as I read Tailor and not Sailor. The family that is on the 1891 census is two households grouped together. The first half are at #13 and the balance at #15. If this is my guy I have puzzle pieces to try to put together and that is so much better than nothing. I'll aslso check into the lost baby. If that is their's, they were pregnant at the time of marriage or that baby was premature (i'm being generous and giving a due date of Sept :) )

Now to the 1st census we see Annie in and its the 1881 and looking at the census image-which is quite faded and poor standard i have magnified middle name and it is clearly a L and not a K.The transcript error is due to the elaborate writing which has the H of Hutchings in the above name(Alberts)looped down towards Annie's middle name making at a quick glance look like a K.Im sure you have this record so won't break it down.

he may still have been on the 1911 as he may have died late Apr,May or June.1911 was taken 2nd April 1911.

I am still looking for Lilian's death.

WOW Thankyou so much!!!! I couldn't find the correct Albert Lewis or his death so I can now order those certs!! I ordered the 1904 birth for Lilian but the mothers maiden name was down as Annie Louisa Batchelor!!! However Franks profession matched and Sophia was Franks mothers name!! So we have 2 strange things!!! Frank possibly listed his father on the marriage cert as John Lewis when it was William and Annie possibly had another surname when registering Lilians birth!!! It is odd!! I couldnt find another Lilian Lewis born in Croydon that would fit. On the 1911 they put her as Lily but i couldn't trace a Lily Lewis born in Croydon 1904. My grandad said she was Lilian and was slighly backward also and died around age 14. If it helps i wonder if she was Lily?? My great aunt Edith was on 1911 as Edie though so they obviously put their pet names on.
The info you have given me is great, it is so exciting and I really hope she is the Annie L we are looking for!!!

From the 1911 onwards its down to guess work.I would say it must have been very hard on Annie losing 2 children-if Lilian did infact die also.This could have led to her leaving afriad of losing anymore children??Now she could have left the country?she could have remained single and died?or she could have remarried?

So i will look and see any options for the above-although leaving the country i only have incoming not outgoing.

There is a poss marriage in 1925-i can't say if this is her the only way to know is to ask records office to cross check the father's name and see if it is Albert J-or A.J

There are so many deaths impossible to say if they are her although i thinks it more likely that she died beyond the transcribed records and will be on the full index somewhere.

I think you should contact the records office re the Lilian birth cert doesn't seem right to me???Looks like they were printing a marriage record and the batchelor part went on your cert???Especially as it is Annie Louisa and also Franks job matching.Looking for Lily in 1904 only this 1 shows but not Croydon,also 1 in 1907
