hi everyone, from a wet and windy Manchester, weather mustn't be so good outside as my ginger cat is sat on my knee as I am writing this,so please for give typing erroers. Slyvia in Oz ,so pleased you went to the specialist, bet you are feeling more positive, hope you get a good result from the biopsy. Sue,I have a few falls, and really all that was hurt when looking back was my pride ,I did have bruised knees ,from one fall, bad back/thigh from anotgher but nothing lasting ,Hope your finger doesn't cause you to many problems. I have been to two family history fairs and enjoyed them both, like June says you should be able to buy cds, books maps etc ,but I suspect that with you being on the other side of the world the places on the cds etc might not be the same. You can also get some advises from the experts. Slyvia,it is nice that the visit to your daughter was so enjoyable and good of you to go and see your friend and sister in law. June,I will keep everything crossed for you and the move. My firends daughter was hoping to miove nearer to her as she is havibg her first baby in the new year, but they wanted a new build, and needed to be able to sell and complete within 4 weeks to be able to buy the new one. So they are still looking. Oscar my cat is now getting restless ,think he might want to see how the weather looks.so I'd better let him out. Take care Brenda

The pest is back, and it looks as though iv'e missed a bit of fun. I finished up building a new puter ,more or less ,and added a slave drive to make sure that if anything like this happens again ,my files are safe. to the person complaining about the lack of help with the lawn cutting ,i would say this ,get 'em telt ,no help ,no washing done ,no meals cooked ,and no cleaning done, away you male members ,fair does and all the lady of the house can not be expected to do ALL the work.If this fails ,get yourself a couple of goats ,they will do a great job for you ,and you have free milk too,and you could train them to butt their butts once in a while for good measure.lol. The grandson has his 21 party tonight so i won't be able to stay very long ,and he is already looking over my shoulder ,waiting to pounce the moment i move ,so ,if i'm not around much for ther next two weeks ,you at least know why. As soon as the misses gets out of bed it will be off to the shops for some gear ,and then it looks as though it's a mammoth backing sesion ,but i don't miond really ,i quite enjoy a dabble with the tattie cake ,and bread pudding ,and i'm a dab hand at sandwich making . Nice to hear from the two Sylvia's as well ,both of them sound a lot more positive of late ,and that can only be a good thing. Hi Sue from Tassie, see ,i hav'nt forgotten you ,and will be getting in touch shortly ,seeing as i have at last got myself up and runing with the headphones and mic ,which is a lot more fun ,and quicker than the keyboard. I must just make time too ,to mention June [in case she pops in ] i got my wrist slapped last time for forgetting ,which is only right ,and she did it in such a nice way.Morning too,to anyone i forgot ,including the gaffer ,[morning Michael] i hope to be back shortly, grandson permitting.Fred.PtfA&G&G&S.

Hi everyone, We have sunshine and showers at the moment but when I read of what the rest of Europe is having, I think we are lucky. We took my grandson around to the house yesterday, which was a good job because he preferred the room we were putting the computers, so he's quite happy now. Hi All Fred its good to see you back, I could use a mic at this moment, with my finger still being a bit sore where I took a bit of the tip off when I fell. Well Im off to the family fair tomorrow, David is looking after the children so I can take my time and have a good look at things. They have also got a free bus that goes around and shows old homesteads and gives info on who used to live in them in the pioneer days. There is also a guided tour of the church, which should be interesting, as a few of my ancestors were married there. Well see you all later.

Hi all, Yes, it's me again. Had another busy day. Who said pensioners are lonely and don't know what to do? This morning Annemie and I went to the market, very windy and cold scooting today. Bought some new saucepans as I've burnt so many this last year - it's the wretched computer's fault, I cannot leave it and I forget everything else! Linda my granddaughter was late coming as she was down south looking after her girlfriend's kittens and part of the ceiling fell down last night. Poor Linda had to clean this up, with the help of the kittens, before she could come to me. When she left me she had to travel to her boyfriend - 2 hours away, so I had her for dinner today. Salmon, chips, salad, beetroot, followed by ice-cream. I went this afternoon to my hairdresser and had my hair permed. Always go to her for a perm as I don't like all the mess here. When I arrived back Linda came followed by her brother, our grandson, and his friend. He brought me another bag of washing and took away his clean washing. Another satisfied customer! We have the triathlon here tomorrow and when I scooted round the harbour this morning the music was blaring out, tents had been pitched everywhere and portable toilets, Red Cross tents, etc.etc. I do hope they have good weather. Also tomorrow our motor caravan club are holding their annual autumn meeting and many of our friends are going. If it wasn't so far away we would have popped in to see some of the old faces who have been with us on tours. Just in case anybody does pass this way on the way home I think I'll make a large pan of soup and bake a cake. So I know what I have to do for Saturday! Well have a nice evening everybody. Nice to see you back again Fred, really missed you chuck! Sylvia xxx

Hello all, Hi Fred, good to see you back again. The double messages are probably more to do with the site than your computer - seems to happen to us all at some time or another. June, have you got a date for your move yet? Moving house is very stressful, I still have quite a few of my sister's boxes stored in my house. She moved from a large flat to a much smaller one and can't fit everything in. Has sorted most of the stuff she wanted to get rid of but still things that need sorting. Now I have forgotten who has said what - always mean to print off the messages. Sylvia W. you will have had the biopsy now, keeping my fingers crossed for you that all will be well. Sue, I was always slicing the tips of my fingers with kitchen knives - makes typing very painful !!!! It's nice to see that more people are adding to this thread, love reading about what everyone is doing in their part of the world. Susan is nearly at the end of her treatment now, by the end of September hopefully we will hear that she is all clear and by Christmas she should be feeling well again. It has been one of those days when nothing went according to plan, I did some work and didn't get home until 8.30, had to give up as it got too dark to see house numbers - the plan was I would do it all in the middle of the day but you know what they say about the best laid plans......!! Hope everyone keeps well, have a good day and apologies to everyone I haven't mentioned, feeling a bit tired now and my brain is 'resting' lol !! God bless Love Kathleen

Hello Everyone again. I just wanted to let you know that I had the procedure for the biopsy done yesterday and all went well but I didn't know it would be so painful afterwards. It is really hurting today so I hope the result will be worth it. I will let you know when I hear. I hope you are all well. The weather has been quite nice here today. Are any of you watching the cricket? Norman and I sat up till 1 o'clock am last night watching it and I expect we will do tonight as well. It's a good job we don't have to get up early in the mornings. See you all again soon, Love from Sylvia XX

Hi All Well I am feeling better now my hip isn’t as sore and I have now got my finger uncovered when I am not doing anything much as it is still sensitive to touch and with my thin blood it wouldn’t take much to set off bleeding again. Sylvia, I hope you get good results with your biopsy, thinking of you and Norm. I haven’t been watching the Cricket, I don’t really follow it but the scores in the paper don’t look too good for the Aussies. Well I went to the Family fair yesterday and I found it very enjoyable. I didn’t get away kid free as my youngest Dannielle decided she wanted to come for a drive, but she was good and didn’t moan about being bored. I only bought a couple of CD’s one only had information on as in links to sites etc and programs on it especially for research in Aus, NZ and UK. We had a look at all the boards that were set up in the sports centre and I saw a picture of a pioneer hut that was built up in the mountain by my Great Grandfather and one of his sons. I knew about the hut but I haven’t seen it yet, my brother is going to take David and me up there in his 4 WD when it gets a bit warmer. I then went and checked the church out and it had beautiful wood carvings done my a local girl, it also had an old wind organ on looking at the back of the organ I saw all the carvings the young boys had done while they were behind the organ pumping the wind into organ, you could guess what the darlings had carved about lol. Then Dannielle and I walked to the local cemetery to see if I could find any graves that belonged to any ancestors, Dannielle was a good help looking for the names until a couple of plovers decided that we was getting too close to their home and they made a mild attempt at dive bombing us just enough to scare us but not hit us, Dannielle got a bit frightened then a magpie showed up and that was enough for me as I had been attacked by a magpie before, so we left without finding any info out, I bet it had something to do with my jumper I had on I follow the Hawks and there is another team called Magpies for those who don’t live in Aus lol. Dannielle wanted to buy a book that was for sale at the fair, it was about a famous bull we had that lived all alone on an Island in the middle of the Tamar River, that was until the council decided that it would be good to built a footbridge to the island so people could visit the island, so poor Bruno the bull had to be moved, they finally found a home for him on a farm beside the river so he could look out to his island. The author was there and she signed it for Dannielle. I also went to a couple of workshops one was done by Gould Genealogy that does a lot on putting archive books on CD. The other was about The Limestone caves in a place called Mole Creek, which is where some of my family migrated out from England to, I found it very interesting as one of the caves talked about was actually on one of the farms owned by my family and named after them. Well that’s about it for now I will catch you all later. Hello to all who I have not mentioned, I am still thinking of you.

Hi all, Come back Fred, about time you put a nice long thread on here. What have you been doing and why did you buy a new computer? Johan and I tried to book our holiday on the internet but needed a booking number so it didn't work. Will phone tomorrow. Anyway we will hopefully leave here on 25th September for 2 weeks, arriving in Newcastle and travelling to Scotland, near AYR is our first stop. The weather is quite nice here at the moment. We had the triathlon here yesterday and a Belgian won it for the fourth time. Well done! See you all another time. Sylvia xxx

Hi everybody, And where is everybody this glorious Bank Holiday Monday? No, it is not Bank Holiday here, but I do know it is in the uk. Today Johan and I went for diabetes control and they were quite pleased with us. The only problem is my heart valve seems to be getting weaker. The cardiologist did say he wouldn't do anything until it got worse, so??????? I see him in November. Johan phoned the DFDSseaways about our holiday and they will phone back by the end of the week to confirm that the dates we want to go on holiday are ok. We've now changed it from Sunday to Monday 26 September and will be arriving in Immingham, Newcastle. We then drive on to Craig Tara near Ayr, then Seton Sands, on to Haggerston Castle. We are staying 4 nights at each of these places. We have asked for a larger than usual static caravan. I know we're only two people but we like the space! Now see you all tomorrow. Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone, I hope you have all had a good weekend, I cant remember when I added last, it has been rather hectic here with family all staying. I have to get up early to get on the computer and even then, someone seemed to have the same idea and all 3 computers were in constant use. Sue, Your day at the Fair sounded very interesting, you told it so well, I felt as though I had been there with you. Bless Dannielle, she was very good taking such an interest, pity about the Magpies and plovers, spoiling it for you. Fred, Good job you reminded me of your move just before last Christmas, I think being as you are experienced now, you should come and give us a hand, lol Sylvia v O, Ity sounds so nice where you live, there always seems to be interesting things going on. Kathleen, I'm pleased Susan's treatment is nearly over,She certainly will be glad to see the start of a New Year. We haven't got the date of our move yet, I think I will feel a lot better when I know that. Sylvia W. Its good to see that Norman is interested in the cricket, its something you can share together. Brenda, I could swear that I had added a message too but it isn't there. In my case its my age but what is your excuse? I think I had better go to bed now, this weekend has tired me more than I thought it would, it has been so hectic. see you tomorrow, June xx

Aussieone Report 30 Aug 2005 04:37

Hi All Brenda yes I was lucky to have the family documented so well in the area they lived, I think because it is a small town and in the pioneer days there was about only 6 different family names, most of them migrating from England as ag labs around the same time, I also believe the name of the town Mole Creek, may have connections with a place in England that maybe named the same or very similar, not sure if it is a town or river. June yes the plovers, and Magpies can be a pain at times, but I suppose they are only protecting their territory, if only they could tell that I wasn’t going to climb over the barb wire fencing to get into where they were, that I was quite happy staying on my side of the fence lol. Well I had a bit of fun this morning I don’t think…… Firstly it is raining quite heavy here and I had to take a tyre to the servo to get a screw taken out of it and have the hole plugged, so I took Dannielle to school at the same time. When we arrive at the school Dannielle informed me that she had a form in the classroom that should have been back at school today, it was for a sausage sizzle on Friday. So I decided to make a mad dive to the classroom as I didn’t bring my coat or umbrella as I hadn’t planned on getting out of the car, Well you probably guessed it I got out of the car and shut the door, of course I pushed the lock button down and shut the door locking it, Dannielle had also done the same, then I realised that the keys were in the ignition. Well you could imagine what I said …. Under my breath of course lol. Well I then after going to the classroom to sign the form and leave the money for the sausage sizzle, I went and stood at the bus stop, that had basically no shelter til the bus came, so I could get home to get the spare set of keys then bus back to the car. I suppose the only lucky thing is I had the house keys, which are separate to the car keys, in my pocket. So after all that I went and had a nice hot shower to warm up and put a nice dry set of clothes on. Well now I have had my little moan for the day, I feel a lot better, lol. Catch you all next time.

Hi all, Well went to the dentist again today so that he could take an impression for my partial top and partial bottom dentures. I then arrived home and had a sandwich at lunchtime and duly broke one of my gold crowns. Phoned the dentist. Went back again and he pulled the rest of the tooth out. He had an awful job getting it out. I told him that it had been there a long time! My poor grandson arrived here just after I came home with a prop in my mouth, with a look of sympathy, felt sorry that he should come at such a time! Tomorrow Johan and I are going into town, me to scoot round the market and Johan will sit in the library. He doesn't like going round the shops and is still aching after walking around the shops in Belgium! We can get coffee in the library and I can find something nice to eat on the market for him and he is ok. Now see you all tomorrow. Sylvia xxx
