Hi everyone. Wish I could win the Lottery!! Wonder what I would do with the money. I have a few ideas! Went to a BBQ today - the weather suddenly turned hot and sunny and I now have a very red face! Did not put any sun block on. Silly me. We had a great time - it was at Pacific Palms Resort. Most people have bought units but a few are holiday lets. It has a beautiful heated swimming pool set under Palm Trees. A large BBQ area - covered in should it rain! Very well kept gardens. It is walking distance to the beach also. Quite expensive to buy a unit or apartment and a service charge of $1000 dollars per year. But the units and apartments are all freehold which is unusual for the village resorts around here. Makes it more popular. Still great excitement regarding the Icebergs which have floated along to the coast of NZ. The tourist operators are busy with their helicopters taking people to see them and even landing on the very large one. This is has never happened before. My Christmas shopping isn't going too well - lots more to do. Posted the UK ones thank goodness. It costs more for postage than to buy the gifts! Had my first Christmas Card today. From my ex sister in law in America. She is always the first one to send. She must be very organised! Tomorrow we have a quiet day - at the moment anyway - so hope to pop to town and do a little more shopping. Must go. Regards Mavis NZ

Hi all, Well I feel a lot better although still an irritating cough. I received my first Xmas present and card yesterday and me not having done much shopping at all. My days have been taken up with hospitals etc. lately. I think I'll have to ask my granddaughter to help me with a few presents. She always seems to know what her brother and mother would like. But, what about my granddaughter? I'll have to ask her mother I suppose. I hope it is a bit drier here tomorrow then I can look at the shops. We don't really have any gift shops here, only a book shop. Our voting went very well here - 80% of the population voted. I suppose a lot depended on the weather, and yesterday it was dry! Johan and I had a busy day by voting, having our anti-flu injection and going to look at new shower stools. The stool in our shower has gone rusty and I have applied for a new one, but wanted to look at them first. I am now looking for a nice big rug with a zip in for when I am on my scootmobile as I get quite cold. See you all tomorrow. Sylvia xxx

Hi all, Well Brenda, I hope you have hinted to your husband that you would like a new computer for Xmas. I would like a digital camera but as we are going to buy a DVD player I think that won't be on the list this year. Having just bought a car a short while ago we have to be careful. Tony Blair still only gives us ten pounds bonus at Xmas and that doesn't take us far does it? It has been rain and storm here the whole day so have spent the day pottering around. Made 3 loaves of dark brown bread. My cousin has made me a CD Rom of our family (mother's side), including photos etc. He ran a few sheets of paper out to 'whet' my appetite he says. I now must run the disc myself. He has answered a lot of questions for me, so this has saved me a lot of work. Now have a nice evening. Sylvia xxx

Morning all,i am going to the sons again very shortly to help fix the electrics on his carbut have a few minutes for a chat on here and a cuppa before i blast off lol.The weather isn't to bad here ,i wish i had a garage at times like this ,i hate working on motors in the rain [sigh] Like you Sylvia ,a family member has sent me a cd with loads of family members on ,all to do with my Rowan and Manners ancesters and as my contribution to the searches i am making a list of the streets and house numbers of these peeps in South Shields Jarrow and Sunderland so that i can go across and get photos of them all for him,and ,come spring have agreed to do the graveyards in those areas too for infomation which will be added to both our files. Lots of bits and pieces have already been added to my Bairds and Rowans,Manners ,list ,it would seem that the manners and Rowans came over from ireland ,and the bairds came down from Scotland lol,no wonder as a kid i had such a paddy on me ,long gone thank goodness ,although the old pet lip can come on still ,once in a while.hee hee. I hope your son soon get's your puter sorted for you Brenda, you may have a bug on board,or you may be missing some paths in your programme files, ask him to download windows registry pro for you,a free utility that enables you to repair all the faults in the computer regisrty and keeps your puter on the top line,i had to learn the hard way too. It might even be the power pack on the way out either, easy to sort costing about ten to twenty pounds for a new unit. I got hold of Edwins birth certificate by the way Brenda so i will soon know where for sure he was born, confirm that richard is the dad ,and ,a new line for tracing richards birth place for sure, his wifes name ,but i'm on tenderhooks, the envelope is in the bedroom ,the dragon is still asleep [gulp] and i'm not going in there to get it ,untill the boss wakes up lol. Off to see to the car now ,but will be back this afternoon as we are not at the sons for the day ,seeing as Steven is working all weekend ,but we will be seeing him on his days off [thursday ]next week. Take care all ,and enjoy Sunday.Fred,

Hi all, Well a real typical lazy Sunday. I woke up late and Johan had done the breakfast, and from there on everything was late. Cannot say I have done much at all.Still nice to have one of those days now and again. Oh, yes I did write a few Xmas cards which are now ready for posting. Should do a few more this evening I suppose. Johan has been busy looking at what there is for sale in the way of DVD players so we will be buying one soon I suppose. He wants to learn how to put our photos from Nigeria on to disk. Well will sign off now as news is short. Sylvia xxx

Hi all, Well the weather has been fantastic here again today, plenty of glorious sunshine. Johan and I had to go to the hospital for echos for our hearts and also give blood, ready for the cardiologist next week. We heard that Johan's heart valve is not working properly again. It is about 10 years now since he had his heart valve repaired. My heart valve is also bad, so will see what the cardiologist has to say next week. I now have cystitis and taking anti biotics for this. I just don't seem to be able to get on top of life again at the moment, although feel a little brighter in myself. I have received 3 Xmas cards so will have to get round to writing mine soon. Tomorrow I have a friend coming for coffee and lunch so not much time. Thursday will be spent at the wholesalers and Friday market day. Oh well, Saturday perhaps. I have received this CD Rom from my cousin and am dying to play it and read all about our family. There are also pictures of streets which I don't recognise so will have to ask my cousin. See you tomorrow. Sylvia xxx

Might get up to Bury on Friday will probably be the last market day that I can go ,(due to work) before christmas, apart from the day before Christmas Eve. Glad you got those piccies Fred,I must do something like that,I know a lot of the streets ,but as the houses have gone I don't know where they actually lived. But they are being developed fast ,as they are inner city which is developement mad Working all day tomorrow Sylvia hope all goes well with your cardioligist, sorry for spelling.! hello brenda well you are doing well with the xmas shopping, as usual I envy you going to bury market but I can see it all in my minds eye, some people will think that I am daft getting envious of people going to a market but it is a great place, we are having strange weather here in ontario quite warm and wet and foggy the other end of the country is in a mess vancouver has tons of snow and calgary is in the deep freeze -25 degree's, my sister and her husband are moving there in april next year, when he retires I don't think that I will be rushing to visit her in the winter anytime. I have been helping with the family this week as my son is travelling and my daughter in law is busy studying at teachers college, I do enjoy the three children I think tht I am finished my shopping just the local cards to write. well its late so I am off to bed I hope that sylvia feels well soon and fres seems to be having a great time these days bye for now dorothy

Good morning from a sunny but chilly Manchester, working all day today but its very slow here this morning, which is unusual for a Wednesday as we have coffe and biscuits for the borrowers today.this is done in each library on one morning each week (same day in each library) Are you still finding time to go to the gym Dorothy? my friend couldn't go the last two weeks due to a family illness and found she really missed it and the way she feels afterwards.Would love a day I could say I was going to a gym,but with the hours I work being like they are its not possible. Have to get back to work now,Brenda.

good morning brenda it is a great day here the sun is shining through the rain!! it is supposed to be 17 degree's to-day and just 1 degree on friday I guess winter is coming plus the snow is supposed to start, yes I am still going to the gym three times a week and monday was the weigh and measure day for me, the results I was very pleased with a total of six and a half inches lost over all and point 8% reduction in the dreaded body fat. I was so pleased but had gained 3 pounds though they told me not to worry about that, for the ladies I lost ones inch each of the following bust, waist, abdomen hips and legs not sure were the half inch came from. I am off to the gym after I finish this, I saw on line that CURVES has a place in radcliffe so next year I will be able to keep up the good work when visiting anne, I think that she is thinking of joining but she is not sure as yet, I must say for a 64yr old I am rather proud of this months results, and am determined to keep going, this week is busy with the grandchildren who are staying over thursday night and I will take them xmas shopping on friday to get surprise gifts for mommy and daddy, then I suppose a movie, I hope that they do not get up in the night and go peeking in all the closets to see where I have hidden the xmas gifts, well enough from me again brenda I will be thinking of you on friday as you go around the market. I hae a very old small painting of the ROCK in the 1800's on the wall in the hall how that has changed over the years along with kay gardens, it is funny I was 15 when we left bury but those years were so important to me, canada has been very good to me and of coure with andrew and the children is home but bury is so special to me and the village of walshaw bye for now dorothy

Good after noon folks, been a lovely day here ,sun shining and soooo mild for the time of year, long may it last. My brickie got finished last night so i spent a couple of hours this morning putting all the bits and pieces back into their places for the winter, and the garden looks a lot better now. We took a bus over to Byker late this morning and picked up a few bits and pieces for the room decorations and so forth. I have a feeling that Liz will be starting the decorations tomorrow ,so i had better sort my car santy claus out ready to put into the motor,in place of the little lamb that hangs there the rest of the year,a throw back to the old days when it came in handy to keep the grandbairns quiet on a trip to the shops. .I think it's a bath and early to bed for me tonight seeing as it looks like the sniffles coming on,but i am due my flu injection tomorrow morning ,so if i get a cold now ,it will be out of the way for christmas. Back tomorrow,Fred.
