Hiya peeps, just back in from work, and had my tea,the haggis that my son made[ the other half] and a stuffed pepper, both loveeeeerly, and both made by my eldest son,i sometimes think they should have got together and started an eatery between them, but i suppose it's a bad idea in a way,i would more than likely weigh about twenty stone instead of thirteen. Well, tomorrow i have the five oclock shift to do ,then it's a straight seven days to go ,my last day at the temp' job [lol]being Saturday week. Your recipie is here Sylvia but i need your e,mail addy again so that i can send it to you,and you have a bonus ,a recipie for a couple of flans on tother side which i scanned at the same time to give the scanner a little exercise seeing as i havn't used it for a long time, hee hee,i'm dreading trying the printer ,cause the ink jets are bound to be clogged after all this time ,and it's a right pain to clean them out and re aligne the heads. Nice to hear that you had a good time Mary, and it's not suprising that you are tired, but a few early nights and some milo will have you running around in a few days, enjoying that pool of yours . well .it's time i made myself a drink and got myself away to bed,i have my granddaughter Sophie here at the moment and she wants me to take her to the metrocentre tomorrow ,so i need all the rest i can get. See you all tomorrow .Fred.

Hi everybody, Well we have had another nice day here today, some sunshine, but dry. Made 3 dark brown loaves of bread and ran a washing machine, but haven't done much else. This afternoon my ex son in law came round with his wife for a drink. It was nice to see them again. Oh yes, my hairdresser came round as she couldn't do my hair yesterday because I went shopping. See you all tomorrow Sylvia xxx

Hi all, Hi Linda Evans, have you been on this site before as I cannot recollect your name? Today we have had another lovely dry day. Against all my principles I went to the supermarket today as I have been busy all the week and had forgotten a couple of things and now will be busy again Monday and Tuesday. I was just going outside the door when a neighbour stopped me and asked if I was going to the shop I said yes and I asked if she wanted something. However, she wanted to come with me for a walk and talk. At least I have made somebody happy today. She even went past another neighbour here and said how happy she was that she was allowed to come with me. I felt rather sad as she must be lonely having lost her husband 5 years ago. I don't want to get too involved though as she has a very loud voice and when walking with me the whole street knows what she is talking about. Help! I was up at 5.00 am as I couldn't sleep any more. Not knowing what to do at such an unearthly hour I did my ironing and then on to the computer. Whatever did we used to do before computers? Now have a nice evening everybody. Sylvia xxx

Hi everyone. Well, our weather has gone all to pot!! Heavy rain and strong cold winds. Just as the roses are opening out - the wind ruins them. The forecast is still bad until the weekend and then warm sunshine should arrive again. Must get up and get going tomorrow as I have my Mahjong girls here in the afternoon. They will expect afternoon tea!! Thought I would make savoury whirls, date and walnut layer cake and sandwiches of some sort. Not good for our diet though! Saturday evening is our Guess Who's Coming for Dinner Night. We are hosting again. Will make a steak and kidney pie and a macaroni cheese - just in case someone doesn't eat meat! My daughter has settled in Ok in her new house(renovated old one). It is really nice. Much larger this time. 4 bedrooms and a study. She needs the extra bedroom for foster children. Andrew (grandson of 14 years) has always shared with foster children but is so happy to have his own room at last. He never once grumbled. Must go to bed now so that I am up bright and early in the morning. Love to all Mavis NZ

Hi all, Well we've had some rain today. Johan had to pick up our neighbour from town as he had taken his car in to be serviced. This was 9.00 am this morning. Next he had to pick up his sister and brother in law at 12.30 noon. They had coffee and cream cake, then we had some homemade soup and ham and cheese rolls. We had a drink in the afternoon then they stayed for dinner. I made goulash, potatoes, carrots with homemade apple puree and spiced stewed pears and whipped cream for seconds. In between Johan had to take our neighbour to town again to pick up his car. After dinner he had to take his sister and brother in law back to town, so in total 4 trips in to town, and at his age of 81 years! Tomorrow we are going into town as it is market day and the weather should be good. They have forecast 20 degrees for Thursday - midsummer at the end of October. Crazy. I have been asked to make two cards. One for a 25th wedding anniversary and the other for grandma and grandpa whose daughter has just had a baby girl. Must sort through my odds and ends and see that I have everything to make these cards as there is a stall on the market where I can buy craft items if I haven't. Now have a nice evening everybody. had to go to page 12 to find us today, was working yesterday morning then went to meet an old friend who neded some cheering up.So did I with all the rain we had and walking in town in a down pour, why is it the rain is always blowing into your face ? my hair was flattened ,even with an umbrella and the front of my pants were sticking to my legs.ugh!!! Still my friend was pleased to see me and we had a nice few hours at the Lorwry centre ,did some retail therapy and had a lovely chat over coffee. We had another friend join us when she finished work,as she works at the shopping centre and was in her car so we got lifts part way home for my other friend and all the way home for me,(she had to pass my house to get to hers and the other friend lives way over town) Had a chat with another old mate on the phone later last night and a very good friend this morning, feel very blessed to have so many friends, who take the trouble to call and chat. Have to be in work at 12.0 so need to get ready, there till 8pm so don't think I will be back tonight. Tale care .Brenda

Hi all, Well I didn't post at all yesterday so must do so today. Holiday time there seems to be so few of us. Yesterday Johan and I went into town and I managed to buy some more jumpers, tops for myself and some T-shirts for Johan for under his shirts in the winter. On Wednesdays we have quite a big market in town which I like to browse now and again. Johan went to the library so without him am free as a bird! There were two new shops opened which brought a lot more people into town, balloons everywhere, men on stilts, and children, yes lots and lots because they have Autumn holiday. I was asked to make a card for a 25th wedding anniversary and was able to finish that off today and another for grandparents of a baby girl. I now have to clear up my workroom over the weekend. It looks as though we have had burgulars and the place ransacked! Tomorrow I am going to our local market, not that I need much but I hate going shopping on Saturdays and Sundays, so must do it tomorrow. I hope it stays dry. Brenda, you are lucky to have been able to find a couple of Xmas presents. I cannot even think about Xmas at the moment. I usually have made my cake by now, but cannot raise any enthusiasm for Xmas whatsoever. Whenever you come back Fred don't forget the Xmas pud recipe for me please. Now see you all tomorrow Sylvia xxx

Good morning everyone,Fred is up and about and enjoying these two half days before retiring for good[wahey]. I start these last two days at three in the afternoon and then ,that's it folks ,i can relax for the first time in weeks ,back to the garden, hedges greenhouse and jobs round the house. I posted the recepie to you last week sylvia ,using the email that you supplied ,which is the same one you gave me last year,so either you are not checking your email[naughty girl] or the email from me to you is blocked grrrrrr.. I therefore ask again, can you please unblock me so that i can send you this recepie ,i hadn't forgotten you. I had just signed on this morning when i glaced out side and saw mr mouse darting around on the patio,no doubt stocking up for the winter,so at least i have one of my regulars to watch in the winter monthe. I have also moved the B B Q nearer the house ,and have moved the two apple trees over to the fence,so the birds will have somewhere to perch again,so i'm hoping to get my wren and robins back I really enjoyed the sweetcorn and have two left,so i reckon they will do me for tea tonight, after which ,if i fancy any more i will have to resort to buying them. The kale is going like the clappers now so i will be okay for kalgannon until the spring as i will only have to buy a leek to finish the dish off . Apart from that ,all i have left in the way of eatable fare is my herbs ,of which i have already dried a lot off,the remainder being used straight off the plants. Mr farmer has been in touch saying my turkey is looking well, and next week he starts feeding them corn soaked in red wine which gives thenm their lovely taste and look, and of course they are free range ,i will not buy battery poultry as i reckon it is a cruel way to raise table birds,or eggs. The missus is beggining to cheer up now, knowing that our outings will be starting again next week, she has been very supportive as to what i was doing for her brother but me being out all hours was beginning to wear her down, and i must admit i am very tired myself. I have to crack on next week and find myself a builder who will repoint my gable end for me,there is no way i can get up onto scaffolding anymore to do it myself, besides which ,i can get him to do that while i start catching up with the garden ,which by the way,is well behind. At least ,that will keep me active over the winter ,moving the ground cover plants to the hedging ,between the flags ,and moving the iris from the flags to the garden proper, the idea being to stop damage from falling hedging ,and Freds plates of meat walking all over them lol. We had very high winds last night and i nearly got blown off the bridge as i got to the middle as i walked home.my old ticker was going like a trip hammer in case i went over the top and landed on top of a lorry travelling on the a1,not to be recommended, hee hee Anyway ,a quick look out back and front this morning revealed no damage at all ,so we have been lucky again. Must be off now, time to make a coffee for myself seeing as the missus is still in bed [sniff] alright for some i suppose lol. See you all later ,take care .Fred.
