The Book for May is Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence by Laurens Van Der Post. Thank you all who suggested another thread... So far we have a leader on 2 votes for next months Book..as I won't be around next week nominations will close at midnight tomorrow ( thats sounds posh? lol) |

Stel, Lol yes -- you're confused so am I and I started it! We read Mr Lawrence now and then review the 23/30 in the meantime we have another book on the go ( cos some read quicker than others) its only a short book but some have to get to a library to get it.. Why am I sorry I started this? Lol |

If it's not too late I'd like to put in a plea for Lorna Doone - RD Blackmore. Or maybe something by Thomas Hardy. I have reprobate ancestors in the West Country and enjoy reading about what life was like for them. Northern Lights is probably a good read (according to young people I work with) but I'd rather read a book written for adults. Gwynne |

Just looked up the reviews on 'Ragged Trousered Philanthropists' and it looks good. Thanks, Dave for bringing it to my attention. It has gone on my books to read. Between being on here and reading all these books people are recommending I can see that not much else will get done Dee x |
