badger Report 28 Apr 2012 17:19

Not a lot to report today troops ,out in the greenhouse early on to find my seedlings are well through ,and potted a few more into cups .
The Horseradish is in as well ,yum ,roll on the first cut so that i can make my own sauce ,far hotter than you can buy.
I Have two more troughs lined up for planting ,one carrot ,and the first Parsnip ,now that i have found the variety i like .
Apart from that i have sat outside with the cat in a sunny period and a cup of coffee ,and done the upstairs floors and dusting.
Found a nice little chuck for tomorrows dinner ,which i will do with some home made stuffing and the usual veggies ;-) no puddings though ,what with blood sugar level tests next week, and other concerns.
Catch you later peeps ,hope everyone is having a decent weekend ,Fred. :-D ;-)

Leg wasn't to good as I was standing about a bit looking at things, hope the visit to the pain clinic on wednesday will help sort it out.
Hope you all have a good weekend.Take care Brenda

Well we had a lot of arrangements changed around a few few times last week and it llooks this week is going to be the same,!!
There are too many things to explain to tell you them all,but one change means that I am now going to meet my new grand neice tomorrow instead of later in the week, which is a nice thing.
hope everyone was ok with the weather and nothad any adverse effects from it.

Hope everything is okay there Brenda ,,nice to hear that you have a new addition to the family ,it's been a good while since Liz and i had any ,he he ,showing our age now :-).
Yes ,even up here in our little Tyneside bubble where we seem to be in a less fraught area than the surrounding areas ,we are getting a lot of unsettled weather ,with tons of rain ,hail ,and whatever ,lol,if it were warmer up here i would even think of growing rice it's that wet :-(.
We are going to go to the builders yard this week and get three concrete slabs to build the new barrel hard stand ,and then go to Cramlington on Wednesday to buy the stand and water butt,to ensure that ,at least we have soft rainwater to keep the greenhouse viable, and the seedlings moist.
Have to go for my blood sugar test tomorrow morning ,bright and early ,so i hope all will be okay as i have tons to do as soon as the garden dries out a little
:-D.
Time to take the missus her cuppa up ,hope everyone is okay ,including our Dorothy ,hopefully she can still see us on here ,even if she is unable to put a post up .
Catch you later all ,Fred :-D

Afternoon all.weather today is sunny and breezy, such a change from yesterday!! Have managed to get the washing on the line and its all dried .!!
Had a visit from my sister and her daughter and granddaughter, which was wonderful, she was so well behaved and is just gorgeous!! very much like her mum and dad in a funny way ,depending on the face she was pulling.!!!
The last five babies we have had in the family have all been girls,so in a way wehope the next one who is due to be born on Friday will be boy,but as long as it is healthy is the main thing.
I keep thinking of getting a water butt ,but as we have not got anything in the garden but a couple of bags of spuds and three tomatoe plants we are ok at the minute. hope it goes ok for you Fred.
John is at the docs tomorrow first thing for bllod tests and then goes back next week for the results and to see if he needs any change to his medication.
We are having fish and chips for tea , but its a lightly coated haddock with spices and nuts ,with oven chips ,not had them before will see what they are like.
David is off to the match soon, and John is watching it on tv ,will watch a bit with him as I have to be nutral tonight .!!!
Take care Brenda

afternoon to all .crikey ,two days of morning frost and cold winds ,enough to make my garden go back into hibernation ,and a lot of it has ,lol.
I do haver my new water butt in place on the 'tother side of the greenhouse door, upon two sandstone paving slabs ,and got the drain pipe from the greenhouse gutter in place too, since when there has been no rain ,[sounds about right ] ,but when they are both full ,will give me 90 gallons of rain water for my seedlings.
I did manage to get the fir hedging trimmed this morning ,arms and legs both covered in goose bumps in the chilly air with me in me shorts and body warmer ,causing the post man to shudder as he opened the gate with him in his overcoat, soft aporth'.
Going to have a change of venue in July Brenda ,5 nights in Liverpool,at an Hotel, because ,A never been there to stay, and B because i want to visit the Titanic museum and C it is within striking distance of Southport which i am still determined to visit, and i may even take time out to visit North Wales for the day.
Well ,i think ,crumpets for my tea today ,with a light covering of blue cheese ,with a slice of tomato topping.
Catch you all later ,Fred. :-D

The visit to the hospital was ok and I am starting on some tablets tomorrow,if they do not work I am booked in to have an epidural injection. So I am hoping the tablets work!!.

That's a favourite light tea of mine Brenda ,three Kingsmill crumpets ,cooked until the tops are semi firm ,spread with a light covering of blue cheese ,and slid back under the grill to brown off a slice of tomato ,nice .light and just the job for something, just before bedtime.
Been out nearly all day with the birthday girl ,gave her £60 this morning threatening to do her a mischief if she didn't spend every penny on herself ,brought her a,bunch of mixed flowers ,picked up the last of the stuff for the garden ,from Cramlington ,and then took her out for her dinner at a carvery,he he ,worth every penny ,and then some to see the look on her face ,after pretending this morning that i had forgotten what day it was ,lol <3.
So much for the dry day we were promised ,lol,it started to rain on the way home at 1-30 ,and it's still chucking it down, hmmmmmm ,looks like my new barrel is getting plenty of water in it to hold it down when it gets windy out back.
:-).
Nothing else going on here today ,so i might just have an early night ,Catch you later all ,Fred. :-D ;-)

Hope the weekend weather is not going to be as bad as they predict, its apparently going to be freezing again.don't think there will be many BBQs taking place!!
Better get on with the tea .Have a good weekend

Looks like you ,me ,and Dorothy will be doing indoor B B Qs this holiday Brenda,it is supposed to be ,at least -3c here tonight into tomorrow morning ,and i have got the background heater in the greenhouse on standby ,too many plants in there to lose at this stage of the spring.
I don't know what made me wait for the planting of the Parsnip .but it's just as well i held off ,the one batch i have in already are in a trough which i can put into the greenhouse for a few days ,but the others ,going into a box will have to wait a couple of weeks ,until things improve ,Parsnip do not like cold ,wet loam and will just rot in the ground :-(.
I am going to have a look on the net to see if there are any buses from southport to Bury ,via Manchester ,it would be a day out ,and better still ,i could leave the car in Liverpool and be a lazy git for the day ,lol. once we are in the Hotel ,i intend using the car as little as possible ,making a good amble around even better 'cause i can have a half of lager in safety :-D.
The latest parcel to arrive here for the grandson makes 5 all told ,don't know if he thinks i have a truck instead of a car but if i get any more ,i will have to ship some down by carrier ,and this time ,i will charge him for them, because three of them are big ,and heavy . :-0.,he will not be best pleased ,but i don't know why he just didn't wait to order them until he got back home .
Have to go to the shops now ,a few things i need to get for the weekend .
Catch you all later ,Fred. :-D :-)

Don't forget the Kingsmill crumpets ,and the blue cheese and tomato's our Lass ,just the thing to take the hunger pangs away until you settle in when you get back home ,lol :-).
Already done ours this morning ,and ,plurry hell ,forgot the main thing we went for ,Rhubarb ,i use for planting my brassica out ,a little piece in every hole keeps virus and wireworm away from the roots, the rest i get the lass to make me some crumbles for the freezer ,weeell ,you can't waste good fruit ,can you ? ;-).
Any of your old crew working at the new Library Brenda? or have they all been forcibly retired do to council cuts like so many of my friends out of the local offices and town hall.? seems a shame ,we were doing so well still with our local council still under the liberals ,then ,as soon as Labour got back in the knives came out and the lay offs started, our new council even starting to charge for green bin collections ,another stealth tax by Labour grrrrr.
We are glad we have started booking our rooms with the hotel chain ,instead of Haven ,with the jubilee and the kids holiday season starting they have started the rip offs a four night break at Carla has gone up to £400 plus ,and you can get a full week in Cyprus for that ,in the sunshine via Thompsons.
The government start it all by refusing the working class time out to take their kids on holiday during term time when the poorer workers can at least get cheaper booking so they can't afford to go ,the holiday parks pick up on this and shove their prices up to make a killing ,and the government shove extra taxes on to the holiday parks via higher tax ,and rates and holiday homes .result ,government win again ,at every ones expense, what a plurry carve up :-|.
Well ,i is off to do my crumpets ,yum ,after i have fed this cat ,who is now sitting right in front of my puter screen ,lol ,not daft is she :-D :-) xxx

Hi all.Well Fred i was wondering what to have for lunch when you mentioned the bluecheese and crumpets,!! Only the crumpets are in the freezer,!!!!but will get them out for tomorrow.!1we are now having some soup,it is tinned but they were a very good buy from the B&M store nearby.!! Should have gone to town today but the weather and some jobs I need to do in the house stopped me going. But with I bit of luck I am off to Bury either tomorrow or Saturday.
A few of my old mates are at the new one,but the way it works is that you are in a certian group that covers four libraries and you canbe rota'd on to any one of them,,many a time I have been at a different library each day!! But there can be weeks when you are at the same library ,it depends on what is going on at the library that day and what you have been trained to do.!!
Better get that soup on as its getting a bit nippy again,Have some leeks to do \ aleek and potato soup for tomorrow. yum
Take care ,Brenda

Evening all ,Fred is now knackered after spending three hours in the garden ,putting in most of my Brassica [only one row left to do in two weeks] putting the anti pest dust ,slug pellets and windmills [to keep the ruddy pigeons away, and checked the car over prior to tomorrows trip down to Brize Norton ,with the grandsons ruddy computer.
This thing ,if the size of the boxes is anything to go by ,must be nearly as big as the Bletchley park Colossos that was built in the last world war ,and a darned size more powerful,by the time i have the five boxes intro the car ,our luggage will have to go on the back seats ,and in the rear floor well :-(.
Just about finished the packing and will be starting off early in the morning to hopefully miss the worst of the traffic. :-).
Time i think ,for a sit outside with the cat and a coffee before the sun gets watery as it's apt to do at this time of year ,but there are a few more minutes worht of warm in it's rays yet.
Catch you all tomorrow in the sunny south ,i hope , take care all . :-D xxx
