I was just going to ask if it had been cancelled but obviously not going by your posts. Just spoke to my daughter in York and she said there were no trains between Doncaster and York yesterday but I checked the website and it does not mention anything about buses instead of trains so hopefully it will be okay.

Spoke to SBPF Wendy today. She's going to find out what the roads are like for travelling to York. I see they've forecast rain for the weekend again though!

I am going to train station in morning to enquire about York. As far as I know there are no GNER trains running between Leeds and Wakefield and Doncaster and York. I have been told there are trians still running between Leeds and York though, but will definately confirm this tomorrow. Most of the East Coast mainline has been closed due to flooding. I will let everyone know what happens. Gem:))))

Hello everyone. Here is a list of all those going to the History Fair. Gemma in Wakefield. Little Lost Cousin. Jan from York and Del. Haddock. Sue in Leeds (Otley) Ann in Darlington. Maureen 10. Mau and Barry. Helen Welsh. TOR. Angelic Alaina. Mac. Peggy. Me and Chris. Hope I've not left anyone off. I think those travelling by train are meeting at the station around 9.30am. We are picking Ann and Maureen up in Darlington and going straight to the Racecourse, arriving around 11am. There will be a Floor Plan posted somewhere, and we are hoping to all meet at Ron's 'GENEALOGY PRINTERS' stall around 1pm. For those who wish to meet for some lunch and drinks, we shall be at Weatherspoons PUNCHBOWL in York itself. The car park is on Nunnery Lane and just a few minutes walk to the pub. The is a Tannoy system available for those that wish to use it PMSL. Looking forward to seeing you all again, plus some new faces. Jenny. xx

I have been in 2 minds about this all day as more rain is forecast. I checked this morning and they said there are no trains between Scunthorpe and Sheffield but I only go as far as Doncaster to change so its not to bad. My daughter checked the trains for York and they are running about 40 minutes late. (well whats new) LOL. So hopefully I will be there as I am travelling up tomorrow after work. I will look forward to meeting you all at 1pm. My grand daughter is excited at me coming and has told everybody at school that I am sleeping in her room so I would hate to disappoint her. I have to go out again later today so I will check at our local station to see what they know Gloria

There have been some trains between Doncaster and York and a bus to replace the ones not running Same went for Leeds Roads here are Ok we have no flooding although you could go for a mud bath and paddle on The Knavesmire lol The Buses to Knavesmire are No 4 ( FTR Bendy bus most likely purple but they have other clours too ) I think the stop you want is 3 stops froom York station ( not including the station) You get off at the end of Knavesmire Road and walk down to the Grandstand No 11 bus takes you down Campleshon Road and you get off at the Race Course ( just at the end of the road down to the Grandstand) Will post on here on Sat when I get up to let you know the Weather and if there are any roads closed around here. Shouldn't be unless it rains non stop from now ( and it aint raining yet !!! ) Weather forcast said 60% chance of rain on Saturday See you at FHF Love Jan PS Liz can't come now but will keep her informed of how we are all doing on the day LOL !!!!

Just to say Hazel has been in touch and is not able to make it after all. Also Jan has rung to say Liz in Yorkshire cannot make it either. Perhaps they can make it to the Gateshead meet in September. Jenny x
