Am I missing what a quote from Lord of the rings has to do with the election??

maggiewinchester Report 19 Jun 2017 13:11

Yup! Mixing quotes - tut tut!

Maybe Tolkien used Nietzsche's quotation from 'Thus Spoke Zarathustra' in Lord of the rings - but out of context - not good :-|

I know where Rollo works it's at genes, that's why he gets away with so many insults and bad taste comments.

To get back on topic, it seems that the DUP are not the pushover that the Tories expected. There's even talk that an arrangement with the Lib Dems might be possible.

Joy Report 21 Jun 2017 09:11

Indeed, Ken.
I would have quoted your post but that isn't possible, so:

The Northern Irish party, which has ten MPs, ramped up pressure on the prime minister by saying that talks over a deal to prop up her administration were not proceeding “as expected” and cautioning that their support “cannot be taken for granted”.

PMS a la carte...

Strong And stable, weak and wobbly, Prosperity first, man most likely to, even a return to the rose garden promises. Apparently the decision depends on just how much cash can be palmed to Stormont without enraging the Scots blues. The answer of course is not much.

The numbers man Phil is now in effective control tightly allied to Mark Carney. much to the chagrin of the Brexiters. DD hardly aquitted himself with honours at first skirmish.

It is somewhile since we have seen the spectacle of half the Ukgov apparatus frantically u turning while the other half just charges on towards the cliff edge. No wonder the Queen has not got her hat on hip hip hip hooray.

Still in sunny Bournemouth... The Chinés this afternoon childhood revisited. The view from Iow to Purbeck is better than the Riviera :-) The Rentawreck has A/C which is a very good thing.

Lots of spare time the guy from Gc we rehoused is minding the fort.

The D.U.P. are demanding £ 2bn in extra spending which as usual will suffer serious shrinkage. No chance May will just have to go it alone, far less risky. Labour, SNP LDs won't risk a confidence vote until and unless a. They can be sure to win it and b. They feel that they have the country onside. So so long as she kicks the Dup into the long grass she is safe until the autumn barring a row with Barnier.

Her big conjoined problems by then will be the start of trade negotiations and the brexiters throwing their rattles out of the pram.

brexit as envisaged by Ukip Liam Fox Rees Mogg et al is dying on the vine.
careful expectation mgt and Hammond is almost there. Not if the economy falls off the brexit cliff though.

Like as not by the time 3 to 5 years of transition taper off the UK will quietly rejoin.

You know those brain teasers you get on Facebook etc where the words are spelt incorrectly and yet you can still read it..........I suppose it's the same when there's so many abbreviations and half thoughts too.
