Shame they missed a medal, I did see them dive and thought they were good, but then had to go and do something so missed the results. Who won the medals?

can any one explain how the BBC red button works? do you have to have a special telly? should it work on freeview? is it a paid for function...........???

I am so far disgusted with the way the beeb is presenting events, I am really only interested in shooting , but all I can find, is catchup........and thats on the Pc.....not telly....

Hello Bob
You can use your freeview on red button, go to bbc 1, then press red button, you can only watch the live sports on this. At the moment the choice is Volley ball, gymnastics or equestrian sorry no shooting at the moment. i will see if i can find out when the shooting is Bob

OH is getting ours through a satellite. Earlier last week when the box hadn't 'woken up' in the morning and freeview was coming off the ariel, there was some message about needing to up date the freeview channels. If you haven't done that, it might help.

OH says the Red Button on BBC does take a little while (30sec?) to load, and that's using the Satellite.

Such a pity about Tom and Pete,in gold medal position at the halfway stage then their fourth dive went disastrously wrong :-(

Have also been watching the gymnastics....silver for the men :-D but then a dispute and Japan get extra points.......so now GB have bronze? :-|

Mau

edit: of course it's wonderful our team has won Bronze, still an achievement :-D

~Lynda~ Report 30 Jul 2012 19:34

Sad for the GB team to have silver taken away, but it was the right decision. Bronze is wonderful, we haven't been in the medals since 1912 apparently, so a fantastic achievement, well done again GB keep at it :-)

Bob, the shooting was on earlier today, men's skeet is on at 9.00a.m and the finals are on at 14.00 tomorrow. Are you with a provider for you t.v, like Sky or Virgin, if you are get in touch with them, if you're having problems getting the BBC Olympic stations, there are 24 of them, so BBC are doing a fantastic job, showing every sport. I'm not sure what you do if you have preview, but if you have the red button on your tv I thought you would be able to get the stations you want. Have you got someone who is under 40 you could ask how you do it, not being rude, but it seems if you want to know anything about tv's computers or phones ask them, and preferably if they are under 12 even better. Hope you find how to work it, because the shooting has been good, and the archery's been great, as has everything really:-D

Don't forget TONIGHT Gemma Spofforth is in the 100m backstroke final @ 7.50 it should be another medal. It must be so much harder being an competitor in your own Country, the noise must be ear bursting, so much expectation for them.

Come on GB :-D

Gemma took 5th place in the final 100m backstroke. Liam Tancock took 5th in the mens 100m backstroke final well done to GB :-D :-D :-D

if you go here, you'll see why I'm annoyed

Bob
yes I watched the air rifle FINALS on my laptop, but not on TV

they can show qualifying for other events, but not this...........why?

~Lynda~

~Lynda~ Report 30 Jul 2012 20:49

Bob ? why don't you ask on the boards if anyone has a freeview box, and how they view the Olympics?

Other than that, ring the BBC, and ask how to access it. On any advert i've seen re the other stations, it's never mentioned, having to be a subscriber to any package to access the Olympic stations, I've not paid any more to watch these stations, so they must be free, and if you have the red button I'd say you have the facility, but somehow you just aren't getting them, like I said before, if you know 12 year old, they'd probably be able to access it for you in the blink of an eye :-D

Good luck in finding the stations you want, it's worth persevering with, because it'll give you the chance to look at sports you wouldn't think you'd be interested in, like me with the archery :-D

ChAoTicintheNewYear Report 30 Jul 2012 21:37

Lynda, I think Bob's point is that they don't seem to be showing the qualifying heats of the shooting events on the tv.

~Lynda~

~Lynda~ Report 30 Jul 2012 22:03

The link Bob has ChAoTic, are for Fridays events, and in my schedule book, which shows what's on tv, are the same events, so I will be able to watch them. Only other thing I can think of is does the TV have to be HD to see all programmes, mine is, so I don't know if you haven't got HD, you can't watch?
It's all too complicated for me , I'm as old as the hills :-D :-
