QuinsGran mentioned further back that she had hit report by accident sometimes, easily done, just wanted to assure her it wouldn't have any effect unless you then give a reason and submit it :-D

Well it seems Genes are happy with this thread to stay :-D

Margaret, Post Date is miles away from Report but if you do hit RR by accident, there are options you have to go through before its sent on to abuse.

These reportings are no accident :-|

Lets hope these latest reportings are a swansong, sung before the net catches the Rat. ;-)

If a post is RR'd, Genes should the name of person complaining and the reason for complaining. This would quickly reduce the number of complaints.

Oh how I would love to have the RRer named (without prior warning) so if a member reports it pings up "this post has been reported for review by **** ****" what a shock for them :-D :-D

MR_MAGOO

MR_MAGOO Report 18 Mar 2012 16:35

It would make them think before hitting the RR button.

Uzzi xx

I also believe that the RR should be removed for non paying members, if they wish to report a post they will have to mail abuse.
Then it will show who RR´s all the time.

It´s not my posts that are being RR´d so you could say it shouldn´t worry me that much but I can understand how annoying it is for the posters to be constantly being the target. It´s also annoying when you know the post was a valid post and one that you might have wanted to read and comment on.
From another point of view looking in on the boards and seeing 1st posts RR´d just makes me go away until the children have been put to bed. What must it look like for those who are new just about to dip toes into the unknown ? I would have run a mile ...... :-S

*likes* Sue but that then has the problem that nobody would review even when it needs to be. Well not nobody as several will say they are asking for a review ..

Joan ..................

That is their standard reply. The one you get every time you ask about a post that has been RR'd. Just as there are standard replies for any other problem reported to Support.

It hasn't changed in at least 8 years .................. and was also used on the old Friends Reunited (parent company of GR) ................ the "old" version being the one started by Steve and then sold to ITV.

The only thing that changes is the name of the member and the name of the staff member. In other words, it is a standard form letter

It works, doesn't it?

Very few people bother sending a second email asking for more information, or pointing out why it is not telling the exact truth.

I now do continue with the "correspondence", getting more and more insistent that I want an answer from a human, not the one on the computer. It may take 4 or 5 emails, but eventually I get an acceptable, personal response!

I also have taken to saying on the first or second email that "Please do not give me the usual platitudes of ..........". I've had a pretty good response to that as well :-D

Thanks for adding everyone.

Our combined efforts with other members have at least got Genes attention on the matter :-D
