Bolt the telly to the floor, put any shoes in the garden shed under lock and key, in fact, move everything out of your living room except the telly and a cushion to sit on.

I have a feeling Lenny is going to (tongue in cheek) ask for a membership card ....

Dermot

Dermot Report 21 Oct 2009 16:13

Surely, Jack Straw isn't that bad!

MissFitz Report 21 Oct 2009 16:41

It should be very interesting

Muffyxx Report 21 Oct 2009 16:46

I think it's going to be very interesting.

It's about time Nick Griffin was publically challenged on live TV ...... any politician worth his/her salt should be able to make mince meat out of his policies after about 10 minutes....if not a bit before.

I just hope the guy is given the chance to speak.....without being boo'd or shouted down as that is likely to make some people sympathetic to him and his cause.

Not mad keen on Jack Straw though.....who are the lib dem and Tory MPs on with him do we know? xx

No idea Muffy, they've only focussed on those three in the run-ups.

Rose, Lenny can't do anything seriously, he certainly won't give Nick Griffin any credence by treating him seriously either. I really can't see Lenny Henry getting angry at him, rather taking the p*** to make him look small.

I should imagine there will be a lot more security than usual at the studio :-)

Uggers Report 21 Oct 2009 17:14

Really looking forward to it but Lenny Henry wasn't in the line up I was expecting and I'm a bit disappointed.

I hope they don't move the time at the last minute like they did with the expenses row....

Muffy, I agree - I hope he's given as much chance to speak as possible.

I thought Baroness Warzi (sp) and Bonnie Greer were meant to be on the panel? Perhaps someone has pulled out, so Lenny is a replacement.
Just to add a little fuel to the fire, I wonder who Mr Griffin will sit next to?

I know the questions will have been vetted by the Beeb, but it will make interesting watching, if I can keep the "Off" button out of reach.lol

Ole Dimbleby said only last week that nobody knows the questions until the member of the audience actually asks them, but I can't see that they would allow random questions, especially on Thursday.

I read earlier that the BBC are ready to move venue at the last moment if it all kicks off....

I'll be having a very early night. I can't see any point in dignifying this "man's" appearance on TV by watching. He can have nothing to say that I'd be remotely interested in hearing.

I'll leave it up to Jack Straw to shoot him down in flames (allegorically) with legal stuff, Lenny Henry to take the mickey out of him and those who chose to vote for him to - hopefully - reconsider their position.

The BNP latest ploy of using our troops as some kind of propaganda weapon in his "cause" descends to new depths. Despicable man, despicable opinions. I think an early bath.....

Regarding the "vetting" of questions, my friend was in the audience a while ago, with a question for the then health minister. She said they have to have two questions ready and there is an audience rehearsal. Sadly the question she really wanted to ask was disallowed.
So much for free speech!

Dermot

Dermot Report 21 Oct 2009 23:22

Which other politician should not be allowed on the show? Perhaps Jerry Adams may expect an invitation shortly.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 21 Oct 2009 23:31

According to the BBC website, Nick Griffin 'may appear on question time'.

But then again he may not!
The line up of him, Jack Straw, Lennie Henry plus two others would be good!
We shouldn't sink as low as the BNP and not allow free speech/access/a right to 15 minutes of fame - cos I'm sure Nickie boy will be so full of himself his foot will be in his mouth a lot of the time!
Poor lad didn't stand much of a chance with his parents (both were fascists - particularly his dad)

suzian Report 21 Oct 2009 23:33

On that basis, Dermot - either or both.

Maybe we could expect a visit from Mugabe?

In my view - bring them all on - they'll show themselves up for what they are.
