*$parkling $andie* Report 21 Jun 2011 18:55

Hi~~~

Hope all are coping well enough :)

The workmen who did our drive were great.. they have tarmacked a drive opposite today , they have a trailer which they keep a lot of their equipment on, which was parked around the back of our house when they were doing our drive safe of prying eyes, and on neighbours drive before they did the tarmac.
But they had to move it once the tarmac was down, and their boss asked if they could put it on our newly paved area !!...( which was put down to accommodate our cars)... said the hitch on the front was broken and it could get stolen if left on the road.
Hubby said tough ! 'As a boss if the equipment is faulty you should sort it out for the workmen'.... We paid a lot to have it paved and not having anything on it other was intended.
The workmen were great about it. In fact the one was embarrassed to even ask. He suggested I tell their boss what a check it was to ask.
Their van is now parked in the street below, and being nosey I'm going for my walk in a bit and see where they've parked their trailer.
Today's groan over :)

Morning all~~~

Quite pleasant weather wise here so far.

The workmen are somewhere around cos their car is parked on the hill ( unlocked as usual) don't know where their trailer is.
We couldn't have blocked them in Maz cos our cars are gone by 8 and they don't arrive til about 8.15...Good idea tho. :-)

Morning all~~

Beautiful here at the mo, bedding and towels already dry.

Got home from my half hour brisk walk from Asda, carrying shopping :-) and dau had put another load of towels in , which will have to go straight out as they have forecast rain for this afternoon. She went late to work, lucky she's on flexible hours.

Now dau has her own car she is getting up later and instead of going to work with her dad at 8.30 ..they work in the same building.. takes hers more often than not, when she goes with him, he's ready to go and she keeps him waiting for on average 10 mins whilst she she's making up cleaning teeth etc etc. She's lucky she doesn't have to travel far to work.
Talk about Carbon footprint !!

Son on the other hand has to go over 20 miles and gets up at about 6.
We bought him a car to travel to Uni, he didn't stay away , where dau did so last yr hubby decided we should buy her a car.. as they both get treated the same... no favouritism.
We still pay their insurance for now (young drivers), but they have to cover the rest of the running costs.Son is youngest but had his car first so has built up a No claims bonus, but dau was a named driver on my car so has only one yr as yet.

We've set them up, now they are both working :-) :-) they will soon be covering all their costs... even Board and Lodge... is that old fashioned.. I don't think so, they have to learn to budget .
My dad left them money in his will plus he had set up Child Saving Bonds for them to eventually expire at 21. Dau used some of hers for a laptop, son is talking of investing his, which he hasn't yet spent.
I think son has inherited my Dad's and hubby's sense of saving and investing :).. Ouf friend and financial advisor was here last night and son was listening intently.

The workmen who did our paving are still in the area as I seen their car again this morning, ...if I'd allowed them to park on our newly paved area their trailer would probably still be there !!!!! 3 days later :-(

Hi~~

Damp and miserable here :-(

Managed to to dry all the bedding and towels yesterday, son's may have to go in the tumble drier.

Hubby is on the phone 'again' to his big bro ,as a helpline for computers.. we have a quick chat ,when I answer the phone, and then he wants advice from his little bro. My son would be his best bet, but he's gone out.
Oh what joy ! If you can help somebody as you go along..as they say :-)
My men love to tackle PC probs

Afternoon all~~

Late today Maz ..lol
Sunny here at the mo
It was drizzly and grey at 6.30am but it's blown over now.

Hopefully the potatoes from lower down the garden will be better than those at the muddy top.
Hubby is out sorting it :-)

Hi~~~

As Brian used to say we were all washer women ! But who else does it..?

I am most miffed , had 2 lines of washing dried this morning and then on the 3rd, that nasty water came down from the sky ....so quickly , sons bedding which was almost dry got soaked ... as did I :-(

It was glorious first thing.. but it's Wimbledon week.. so it's par for the course.

Think I'll go and check up how things are going there, give my arm a rest...
At what do you reckon I could sell my Strawberries..?

Hubby said we'd have cold meat salad for tea.. which we have.. but it doesn't really suit June tho

Afternoon all~~~~

Unusual for me to to be first posting.
Got in about half and hour ago ,just as well, cos a council guy was coming up at 2pm to give us details on dropping the kerbs at the front of the house.
My jaw dropped when he said £776..!!

Done a bit of retail therapy today. Closing down sale is one of the little shops in town.. a pair of Lotus loafers and Rieker sandals for £30 and 3 reduced priced tops in Tes*o for just over a tenner.... not t shirt tops. Smart ones .lol.

Sandie.x the bargain hunter.. :-)

didn't get in till late as it was our womens rally at church.I am shattered now.
It's great to see the church full and the singing was lovely. Our little Ava even stood on a chair at the front and sang,"With Jesus in the boat" to everyone.
We had a lovely tea afterwards with 4 types of sandwich, sausage rolls, meat pie, quiche, scones, fruit pies and plain and cream cakes. :-D
this was after the coffee morning earlier so apart from popping home at lunch time to walk the dogs and change my clothes it was a full day spent waiting on,washing up and carrying tables, chairs and vacuuming the floors.
Reckon I will sleep tonight :-)
