The friend must have been suprised that you were your normal smiling self when you answered the door to him Brisget.
At least he can spread the word that your OH is alive and well.
I don't know of anyone else this has happened to, it must be a weird thing to happen. I vaguly remember though that some famous man (I did say vaugly) read his own obit in a newspaper, and responded with an "advert" saying "Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated!" Or perhaps this is just one of those (untrue) stories that ciculate from time to time
Will try to get back for a chat tomorrow.

Have been busy this last couple of weeks .. and that means that I have been well :-)
Deieded that the curtains in the newly painted room looked rather grubby, so tried to tsake them down to wash them. That was the plan anyway, but the reality was, the curtains stayed on the curtain rail, no matter how hard I tried to unhook them. Even tried sliding them off the end of the rail... the end resultwas curtain and rail fell to the floor!
Had remembered to take the stewing meat out of the freezer to have a nice warming stew the next day. All went according to plan till I realised that I was all out of parsnips... Stew just does not taste the same without parsnips. (IMO)
Had a few other mini-mishaps like those above, luckily my bad memory has now kicked in and I don't know what the mishaps were. This means that I can't dwell on them. (Big smiles)
I have a lovely sister and brother-in-law, bro-in-law came round to fix my curtain rail for me. The brackets had snapped in two.
My very knowledgable brother, knew of an old fashioned hardware shop nearby, they stocked the exact brackets I needed, so problem solved.
At last I got organised enough to phone in my order for Christmas gifts, to a catalogue that I have often used. Around six of the items I wanted were sold out! That will teach me for leaving it so late Have now been looking on the internet to seeif I can get them from somewhere else (Including an "Isle of Lewis Chess Set").
I am hoping to go into Birmingham city centre tomorrow to get some things there. Unfortunately I can't get my special Ring & Ride Bus, so will be attempting to travel by ordinary bus. That means that I won't be able to get anything heavy or bulky. If town is very crowded, I will have difficulty too. So keeping my fingers crossed.
On Friday I went to last of the (six) Deaf Awareness Workshop Sessions. HAve had a good time, meeting new people, having a laugh and learning something new.
Still trying to go to my weekly exercises too. (but have missed a couple recently).
Basically, all is good in the House of the Fidget.
Hope that everyone else is well.
:-) :-) :-) :-D

It's a very strange feeling to know that someone thinks you are dead.
I have been doing my four branches of my own tree and one direct one for my OH's tree for about twelve years now - on and off. I have a rest when I hit a brick wall, then I might get a contact, and off I go again.
I did find that another person was born with the same birth name as mine - and only about three years before me, too. I never met her, but my daughter once met the husband. He was actually my third cousin and apparently he and his wife were fifth cousins. Whether that makes me her fifth cousin or not, I don't know because I have never come across her in my research (well, not yet, anyway).
One time, I was looking at the tree of another GR member, and found myself on there - shown as dying in 2002. I checked and found that the other one had died in that year. Since then, I found that others have copied, so I am dead on a few family trees. I do let them know when I see it but it doesn't make me feel any better. I'm not ready for that yet!!!

ooh a party, hope it was enjoyable Tess. No parties or 'dos' for us this year except for last Thursday when we went out for a Chinese meal with a group (28 of us) from the seniors section of the golf club. Had a very good evening. But we are very much stay at homes (never thought I would say that), these days, used to go to the big golf club Christmas 'do', but got fed up with it, always the same, music so loud you couldn't talk. And it got expensive too. So we choose not to go these days.

Had a wonderful (and energetic) time at the party.
It was in fact the last of my exercise sessions of this year.
We celebrated by taking food, having a secret santa, dancing (a lot), and playing games like, pass the parcel, and egg and spoon (or in our case a small potato and spoon race).
Rather over did it with both eating and dancing but enjoyed myself.
Tired wehn I got home - the Ring and Ride bus driver had seven passengers, he seemed to choose the long (or possibly wrong) way round when going from house to house. So was on the bus for nearly an hour and a half on the return journey.
Still recovering yesterday, so didn't come on here.
Have managed to order some more Christmas presents this last two days (yes, I know that it is very late). So feeling a lot happier now.
The only cost to me for the party was for the food I took, the present I bought and 60pence each way bus fare on my special bus. So quite a cheap do really.
Tomorrow, I shall be searching for the sellotape (I reckon that I have got at least two rolls of it somewhere. It does have it's "oown" place, but isn't therte. There is also the little cupboard where it "lived" previously, it isn't there either. Tommow I will be attempting to crawl around the floor, to see if it has rolled under anything. Please keep your fingers crossed for me as I'm pretty hopeless at getting down to floor level and crawling round. I am also not all that good at getting back up again. Luckily, no-one will be watching (or listening to) my struggles, so I won't embarrass myself!

Tess, have you found your cellotape? Or are you still rolling around the floor looking for it? Or unable to get up?
Glad you had a good time at the party anyway, sounds good.

I know the feeling when you have something which has a place of its own, then isn't there when you want it. Happens to me a lot........LOL
Whilst I'm here - don't know how busy I will be or how busy YOU will be, so I will take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for the Christmas season. Wherever you are, whoever you are with, I hope you all have a lovely time together.

Haven't found the sellotape. Asked son about it days ago, he denied all knowledge. To-night, around 9.30pm, as he was heading out to work he says "I Think that the sellotape is in the box on the bottom shelf of the new shelf unit" I didn't have time to moan at him before he "walked out the door"
Have looked in the box, (the top layers anyway. Haven't found the sellotape (yet) but have found the christmas cards, left over from last year! As well as quite a few things from my kitchen.
The box by the way, is one for my family history research (and nothing else).
Had already done some crawling, and managed to get back up, so quite pleased with myself.
Will be shopping early tomorrow, and will get some more sellotape then, just in case I don't find it in the lower layers of the family history box.
Off to bed now.
Thanks Berona, hHappy Christmas to you and your family, and to all my cyber-family on here.

Hello Everyone
I hope that all your dreams and wishes for Christmas came to your fruition.
We had a splendid day. We opened the gifts which my daughter had sent to us and as usual they were great, nothing expensive but carefully thought about and even Jet & Joe had a present!
We managed through the wonders of Skype to not only talk to our 6 children and all the grandchildren, but also my two sisters and between them their 4 children and my nieces and nephews...........it made me realise just how lucky we are to live at such a time. Does anyone recall how when I was a child and we wanted to speak to family abroad we had to book in advance at a time delegated by the provider and then we only managed about 3 or 4 minutes!!
Today we are just relaxing, the sun is shining but it is not very warm, but certainly warmer than the UK. We have been invited out at 6pm for a few glasses of wine and nibbles, we will go but only stay for about an hour as we know that this is most likely to go on &on &on etc. The police are everywhere this year, in the past one hardly saw a policeman at this time of year but as Spain needs more money, maybe this is a chance to bring some in......
well that is about all except to say my Christmas cake was disappointing, not in flavour but it is crumbling, I have used the recipe for years but must have done something wrong.......
Bridget :-D :-D :-D

Hello Bridget - and all who look in. Hope you all had a happy Christmas and will have a New Year that is brighter than ever!
It's all over here. Thursday morning (9am) but very quiet. I think a lot of people have the day off in some way - either they take part of their annual leave or their employer closes down for a week or two, so there are not so many 'workers' on the roads this week - but that doesn't stop the accidents! Many people take their full annual leave, as it is coming into mid-summer, and with schools closed - an ideal time to take holidays with the family.

Have had a lazy few days, after the hectic run-up to Christmas. The last of the stuff I ordered for Christmas preents arrived on 23rd and 24th December. Arn't I lucky! Managed to get them all wrapped (having bought some new sellotape) and sent off to their respective "new owners" So that all went well. Had a beef dinner on Christmas day, I was very tired so was pleased to be alone. Went to my sister and brother-in-law's for the family get together, al went well there too. Except that the Christmas Crackers I had provided were a disappointment. One (of eight) had no gift. Another was empty too, but a gift had fallen out into the box, as the hole in the cracker was too big. Will have to (think about) take them back and ask for a refund. Trouble is, I got them from a shop a few miles away, only went there (with my son taking me in his car) to get some curtains.
Luckily there were only five people at the "do" so I had spare crackers, otherwise someone would have gone without a gift.
Haven't been on here on worked on my tree much this last week. Have been catching up on my sleep. But am feeling ok generally. Just need to get ficused over the next few days.
Have a great 2013, to evryone on this thread.
