Bridget

I absolutely disliked the new tree when it was introduced, too many glitches and mistakes, but now it is much, much better than it was, of course this is on a computer not an iPad, although I still preferred the old version.

I had some good news the son of one my cousins, who are from the Czech Republic, contacted me from Australia, where he lives with his sister, we hope to swap some photos and history. (I have a photo of his English grandmother holding me when I was a baby!)

Church will be back to normal this Sunday (after the holidays) - it will be great to have the choir back too.

Looking forward to your postings
Love and Prayers for all
Gerard :-) <3

Bridget, I have not tried to access my tree on my IPad but sometimes when you need to hover, with the IPad you need to 'touch'. i.e. if, on this computer, I want to see when somebody joined I hover over their name. On my I pad I have to touch then name or just under and it will give the same information.

Unless you need to access a lot of records, if I were you I would downgrade to standard when you renew. A lot cheaper. :-D

Gerard, a bit puzzled as to why church will be better now after the holidays. In my memory church never had a holiday and just continued the same. Have things changed?

Ann

They don't use the High Altar in August, and the choir is absent - so it's a lot less formal :-(

Am I the only one who likes the new tree ? I only have a lap top so does that make a difference ? Do we all need the threads more in the darker months, soon to be on us ?

Good morning to all my cyber friends. It is pleasantly warm today, thank goodness for that! The heat this summer has been almost unbearable.
Jet and Joe are definitely getting old! Gone are the desire to run everywhere, they spend a lot of their time dozing or just sitting on patio watching their world.

OH is down stairs, having looked around the garden making sure that they are having the right level of water, and feeding when needed. Yesterday we were lucky to find that many of our figs were ready to eat......I have had several and they are delicious.

I have been rather annoyed about the changes to our trees...however I have now found how to use the system BUT it still does not allow one to see the whole person and family! I like many others will just have to jog along but I am still going to leave the highest cost and go back to the minimum,

I have been watching the news, especially the changes in education in schools. It is all so different to when I was at school. I cannot decide if grades have changed which is why so many people get such high results or are they just brighter than my
time at school?

Well enough from me, so enjoy your day

:-)

Bridget I think that it is a mixture of things. GCSE certainly didn't seem so difficult as O levels (I have taken both).

And the exams themselves changed whereby some of the marks were allotted for course work and some for the actual exam. In my opinion I feel it is easier to get a higher mark for course work if, like myself, you found revising and retaining information difficult. and also exam nerves mean that sometimes marks are affected, so if the course work gives a good percentage towards the total it will raise the levels of passes.
However, I think that is being changed back to exam only.

The problem this year was specifically with English when the exam boards changed the marking to make it harder to get a C pass and above. This being the pass mark that many need to get into 6th form college to take A levels. The problem arose when it was realised that one group, who took the exam earlier in the year were marked more tolerantly than the later group. So you could have two friends of equal ability one with a C pass and one with a D.

Thank you Ann for explaining why there is a problem this year.

Will be back soon, Jet & Joe are demanding that I play with them!!

I am becoming more excited every day.
Only a few days now and I will see my lovely granddaughter Evie for the first time!
I have many many photos but not the same as holding , watching. Looking, learning all about her whilst I can see her.
Mum and dad, one of my sons, are not forgotten as they are a wonderful couple.....

I am pleased that two hours ago an Agent asked if he could look at out house as someone has looked at it from outside on several occasions and now they want to know the details. Agents been and just left and the chap is interested.
He telephoned the person who is looking and will call back later today to agree a time and day!!

Tess, thank you for interest and please keep the fingers crossed.

Realistically of course I expect the house will take a time to be sold but I live in hope that it is not to long .
Thankfully we are not selling the house for financial reasons but purely because I want to be nearer to our children......someone's law will most likely mean that when we do go back to UK they will start moving as well!

OH had had only one point to make....when / if we do go back he will get an annual ticket to go to the West Ham matches.....seems fare to me!!

No other news at the moment but will look in a few times today to see who else is keeping the thred going
. It is a lovely sunny morning, the church bells have just started ringing, jet and Zoe are snoozing, the birds are twittering, and the washing is already out for drying.

Bye for now :-D :-)

It's a cool September morning in London - the sky is blue without a cloud so we can expect a nice warm day.

Would you believe it the cat from across the road (a beautiful black Persian) has waltzed through our cat flap and demanded breakfast (at 4 am) - discovered that he had been locked out all night - it was nice that my four cats let him in the house at all, either that or they are all scared of him.

Talking of cats, I have a dilemma. One of our boys - Fluffy - a Maine coon/Tabby cross is blind but has been fairly normal otherwise up until recently, when he forgets where he is and what he is doing. If he were human I would say he had Alzheimers - because on some days he is quite normal. My neighbour thinks we are being cruel and the cat is suffering - but he eats well (although he is getting a bit thin) and when you give him a cuddle he purrs like a good 'un. Surely if he were in pain or suffering he would let us know - I mean you don't put a human down because he/she forgot to eat their dinner!! I just can't take him to the vet and have him put down - I love him too much for that!!

Took OH to work early as usual this morning (4.30 for 5am) in our car which when we had it serviced last (December 2011) - 'Will probably let you down in four to six weeks' - is miraculously running better than ever - who says prayers don't work!!

Bridget - good luck with the house sale - I am assuming you will be looking for somewhere in East Anglia or Essex to live so that OH won't be too far from the Boleyn Ground!! - mind you could live in East Ham and be as close to the Hammer's Stadium as we are to the Emirates!!

Must sign off now - have to meet OH and give her her Lunch!!

Gerard <3 :-)

Berona

Berona Report 5 Sep 2012 11:24

Gerard. I know what you mean that you love your pet so much, but he can't tell you if he is in pain. A trip to the vet would put your mind at rest and if the cat is in pain, you must do what is best for him. Putting it off could only be extending his pain, and you don't want to do that, do you?

I hope he is with you for a long time yet, but I urge you to take him to the vet as soon as you can.

SpanishEyes

SpanishEyes Report 5 Sep 2012 13:36

Gerard, I am sorry to read about your precious cat. I think that Berona has given you good advice. Many years ago when my children were young we bought a beautiful dog with such good lineage we did not imagine that he would be so I'll. The children and I were devastated when the Vet said, after three or four months of trying to help " the kindest thing that you could do is to allow him to fall asleep with you both present, but you will know that he will not waken."

My daughter and I went to say good bye by taking him for a short walk around the green then back we went and stayed with him until he had stopped breathing .

It took along time to get another dog but we still believe that what we did was for the benefit of our dear dog.

I hope that you will be able to keep your cat but one just never knows what may happen.
